No matter how warm and deceiving his hug was, I still pushed him back before his hands could slide down to my lower back. Without saying a word, I picked up my shoes and left the room.
My heart was beating so loudly that I could swear the students around me could hear it clearly. The shocked looks on their faces gave them away, even though they tried to mind their business.

I shook my head, forcing the thought away. It was impossible. Ash would have kicked me out of the wing by now and handed me over to the authorities. So what could it be? Why the sudden care?
Could he be gay?
I doubted it, but that didn't make it impossible. And if he was—and realized I was a girl, not a boy—it would be worse than I imagined.
