I noticed it before he even realized he was doing it. Sky's lips had gone this weird bluish tint around the edges, like he'd been sucking on ice cubes for fun, and his jaw was locked so tight I could see the muscle jumping under his skin every time he tried to stop the chattering. He kept rubbing his hands up and down his arms like that was gonna fix anything, but all it did was make him look smaller, more pissed off at himself than at me.
"You're shaking like a wet dog," I said, keeping my voice flat on purpose.
"Fuck off," he muttered, but it came out wobbly. He turned his face away, pretending to study the cracked wall like it had the answers to life.
I sighed. Loud. The kind of sigh that says I'm done pretending this isn't happening. "We're both gonna be useless tomorrow if we freeze our balls off in here. Come here."
He didn't move. Just shot me this look that was half murder, half embarrassment. "I'm fine."
