Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Flame Bagua

Before long, Yamato arrived at a clothing store.

"Welcome, beautiful young lady! What kind of clothes are you looking for?" the shop owner greeted her warmly.

Yamato glanced at the various outfits displayed in the shop. "I want to pick out a few suitable haori."

The shop owner immediately nodded with a smile. "Right this way, miss. Please, pick whatever you like. I have a full selection here." He then led Yamato to the back of the store to browse the collection.

After a moment, Yamato made her selection. "Wrap all of these up for me."

"Certainly!" The shop owner beamed and deftly packaged all the haori. "Thank you for your patronage! Please come again!" He personally saw Yamato out the door.

After walking for a short while, an old woman appeared in front of Yamato. She scrutinized Yamato very carefully, her eyes lighting up as she nodded incessantly.

"Is something the matter, grandmother?" Yamato asked with a slight smile.

"Little girl, are you interested in becoming an Oiran?" the old woman asked directly.

A strange look flashed through Yamato's eyes. "I'm sorry, grandmother, but I'm not interested. Being an Oiran or whatever doesn't suit me." She thought to herself that if her true identity were revealed, the old woman would likely regret ever making the suggestion.

"Is that so? Well, this old lady thinks you're very suitable. Think about it; becoming an Oiran is every woman's dream," the old woman continued to persuade her.

"Haha, there's no need to say more, grandmother. I have no interest in being an Oiran. I have things to do, so I'll be going," Yamato laughed and walked away.

Looking at Yamato's departing figure, the old woman felt it was a great pity. She believed that if Yamato were willing, becoming a top-ranked Oiran wouldn't be difficult at all. "It's rare to encounter such potential. I don't know when I'll meet another one like her. What a shame," she muttered to herself.

"An Oiran, huh? What use is that? If you can't protect yourself, you're just a decorative vase. I still want to be a powerhouse—a true powerhouse," Yamato muttered as she walked toward the city gate, her golden pupils glowing.

Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks and glanced behind her as a streak of red and black lightning erupted. With several thumping sounds, a few men dressed as idlers rolled their eyes and fainted instantly.

"Lackeys of the Kyoshiro Family, members of the underworld," Yamato noted. She withdrew her gaze and left the Flower Capital. After leaving the city, she traveled to Ringo.

Ringo is a place where snow falls all year round. Its northern side is home to the graves of many famous samurai, including the legendary Sword God of Wano, Ryuma. His grave is located there, and it was once the resting place of his sword, Shusui. However, Shusui was stolen years ago, and no one knows who did it.

As Yamato walked through the snow, her pink haori fluttered. Snowflakes fell upon it and quickly melted. "Gekko Moriah was completely defeated here by Father, and then he became decadent," Yamato exhaled, her breath turning into a white mist.

The area was a vast expanse of white with no signs of human life. Yamato had come here to pay her respects at Ryuma's grave, which was housed in a dedicated shrine. After walking for about half an hour, she arrived at the graveyard.

There were many mounds of earth here, each marking the grave of a samurai. The swords thrust into the ground were the weapons they had used in life. However, Yamato noticed that the swords were missing from many of the mounds, as if someone had dug them up.

"Kozuki Oden's retainers did this, preparing for the future great war," Yamato thought, unsurprised. She continued walking until she reached the shrine dedicated to Ryuma. Inside, there was a sword rack that should have held Shusui, but it was empty.

Yamato stood quietly before the shrine, lost in thought. Suddenly, a sound broke the silence. A tall, burly man appeared, holding a long-handled great sword. He had a rugged face and stared intently at Yamato.

"Who are you, and what are you doing here?" the man shouted.

Yamato turned her head to look. A cold light flashed in her golden eyes, her pink haori moved without wind, and a terrifying Haki spread through the air. The man opposite her immediately felt the danger. His hair stood on end as he pointed his blade at her. "Speak! Who are you?"

"And who are you?" Yamato asked calmly.

"I am Gyukimaru," the man declared.

Yamato's eyes flickered as she realized who he was. He was the one who wandered Ringo mugging people to collect weapons. She remembered that Gyukimaru's original form was a fox that ate a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit, the Human-Human Fruit, to take on human form.

"Then who are you?" Gyukimaru pressed, unwilling to let the matter go.

"Yamato, daughter of Kaido. How about that? Is that answer satisfying?" A playful smile appeared on Yamato's face.

The man's pupils shook, shocked by the revelation. "The daughter of... that wicked Kaido!"

"That's right, I am the daughter of that wicked Kaido. Do you want to kill me?" Yamato narrowed her eyes.

"Damn it! Daughter of Kaido, die!" The man rushed forward, lifting his great sword to slash at her.

Watching the charging Gyukimaru, a cold light flashed in Yamato's eyes. She drew the spiked club from behind her and instantly coated it in Armament Haki. "Flame Bagua!"

Flames ignited on the spiked club, and the scorching heat caused the surrounding snow to melt. In the next second, Yamato swung the weapon fiercely. Crimson fire erupted like lightning. Guided by fierce Haki, the great sword and the spiked club collided.

The snow within a radius of dozens of meters was blown away by the shockwave and instantly evaporated by the heat. With a loud crack, the great sword shattered. The flame-wrapped club slammed heavily into Gyukimaru's body.

"Gah... Pfft!" Gyukimaru's eyes widened as he spat out blood and flew backward like a cannonball. He crashed through the snow, plowing a trench hundreds of meters long.

Yamato stood her ground as the flames on her club died down. She looked toward the fallen man. "I'll give you a lesson for free: impulsiveness is a devil. Before seeking revenge on an enemy, you should understand your own weight."

She put away her club and turned to leave. She had controlled the intensity of the Flame Bagua so that it would only injure him, not kill him. Flame Bagua was a technique similar to Thunder Bagua. Since the Fish-Fish Fruit, Mythical Zoan, Model: Azure Dragon can manipulate flames, lightning, storms, and clouds, it was a natural extension of her power.
