Chapter 97 - Chapter 94 mood swings

The seventh month of the "Double Watson" pregnancy hit the Black Box like a category-five typhoon. While the first few months were about cravings and glow, the seventh month was governed by the unpredictable, lightning-fast, and often terrifying force known as The Mood Swings.

In the span of ten minutes, I could go from a world-class surgeon to a weeping mess, and finally to a "Monster" that made even Keifer look like a kitten.

It was a Tuesday afternoon. Keifer had made the executive decision to work from home to "monitor" me—which really meant he was hovering. He was currently in the glass-walled study, conducting a high-stakes international merger via video call.

I walked into the study wearing one of his oversized hoodies and fuzzy slippers. I stood in front of his desk, staring at him.

"Jay, honey? I'm in a meeting with the London board," he whispered, covering the microphone. "Is everything okay?"

I didn't say anything. My bottom lip began to tremble. "You didn't say 'good morning' to the left side of my stomach today, Keifer. You only patted the right side. Do you love Alexander more than Aurora?"

The London board members froze on the screen. Keifer's eyes went wide. "What? No! Weify, I love them equally! I was just... I was distracted by the revenue projections!"

"Oh, so money is more important than your daughter?" I sobbed, tears fat and dramatic rolling down my cheeks. "I'm just a walking incubator for your heirs!"

Keifer slammed his laptop shut, ending a multi-million dollar call without a second thought. He lunged across the desk to pull me into his arms. "I'm sorry! I love the left side! I love the left side more than my own life!"

The "Orange" Incident

Ten minutes later, the crying stopped. I was suddenly, inexplicably, furious.

"Why is the kitchen so bright?" I snapped at Keigan, who was innocently trying to get a glass of water.

"It's... it's the sun, Mumma?" Keigan whispered, backing away slowly.

"Well, tell the sun to turn it down! It's being loud!" I marched over to the fruit bowl and picked up an orange. I stared at it for a long time.

Keiran walked in, sensing the tension. "Hey, Jay-jay, you want me to peel that for—"

"This orange is too orange," I said, my voice dangerously low. "It's mocking me with its vibrancy. Keifer! Why did you buy such aggressive fruit?"

Keifer, who had been following me with a bottle of water and a pregnancy pillow, didn't even blink. "I'll have the staff replace all oranges with pale cantaloupes immediately. Keigan, get the aggressive fruit out of here. Now!"

The Section E Intervention

By 4:00 PM, the "Squad" arrived for a visit. They had heard rumors on the group chat.

Mica walked in, carrying a bag of snacks. "Hey, preggy bestie! How's the—"

"Don't look at my ankles, Mica," I warned, sitting on the sofa like a queen on a throne. "If you mention the swelling, I will personally revoke your medical license."

Mica slowly looked up at the ceiling. "I wasn't looking at ankles. I don't even know what an ankle is."

Kit tried to lighten the mood by showing me a sample of a silk baby blanket. "Look, Jay! It's 'Cloud White'!"

I burst into tears again. "It's too soft, Kit! The babies won't know how to handle the hardships of the world if their blankets are this soft! They'll be spoiled! They'll become TikTok influencers with no life skills!"

Kit looked at Keifer in pure panic. Keifer just mouthed, 'Just agree with her.'

"You're right!" Kit shouted. "I'll go find a blanket made of... of burlap! Something rugged! Something for a warrior!"

"NO!" I screamed, my mood flipping back to anger. "MY BABIES ARE NOT SQUATTERS! GIVE ME THE SILK!"

The Midnight Peace

By the time the sun set, I was exhausted from my own emotions. I was tucked into bed, surrounded by a fortress of ten different pillows Keifer had arranged in a specific "U-shape."

Keifer walked in, looking like he had just survived a war. He had a scratch on his cheek from when I threw a plushie at him, and his hair was a mess.

"Are we... are we okay now, weify?" he asked cautiously, staying near the door

I looked at him, my heart suddenly aching with love. "Come here, hubby."

He sat on the edge of the bed, and I crawled into his lap, burying my face in his neck. "I'm sorry I said the orange was aggressive. And I'm sorry I ended your London meeting."

Keifer let out a long, shaky laugh, wrapping his arms around me and the massive bump between us. "Honey, I don't care about London. And that orange deserved what it got. If you want to be a 'Monster' for the next two months, you be the best monster there is. I'll be right here to hold the snacks."

"I love you," I whispered.

I love you more," he said, kissing my temple. "But just for the record... I did say good morning to both sides of the stomach. Aurora just kicked me, so I think she was the one who started the fight."

I giggled, finally falling into a peaceful sleep. The Watson storm had passed for the night, but we all knew the "Category Eight" mood swings were just a few hours away.
