Point of View: Eldrin
As I watched the settlement from the window, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of pride. In such a short time, that place had changed more than I would ever have imagined possible.
The houses were now sturdy and solid, built with durable materials and an architecture designed with the future in mind. The streets, once uneven and covered in dirt, were better laid out and, for the most part, paved with stone. Even the defensive walls had been remodeled: they rose imposingly, standing twenty meters tall and five meters thick, enough to withstand any known threat.
But it wasn't only the settlement that had grown.
We had grown as well.
Some of my companions already had children. Watching them run through the streets, laugh without worries, and fill the air with life was something I never grew tired of seeing. Their presence brought a special warmth to the place, a constant reminder of why we were building all of this.
Thinking of them, we began developing new essential infrastructure: daycare centers, schools, and—most important of all—the two academies.
The daycare centers were intended for children from one to four years old. Their primary function was not educational, but caretaking. Many parents worked long hours, and knowing their children were safe allowed them to fulfill their responsibilities without concern. Even so, the environment was designed to stimulate the children's natural curiosity; thanks to the system, even at three years old they could already learn basic concepts on their own.
The schools, on the other hand, welcomed children from five to ten years old. There, they were taught a bit of everything: reading, mathematics, basic history of the settlement, survival skills, and community values. At the end of this stage, each student could decide their own path.
The academies were reserved for youths aged eleven to eighteen and functioned as boarding schools. Throughout the year they remained there, returning to their homes only during vacations. Both academies were located at the center of the settlement, far from the residential areas.
One of them was focused on combat.
The other, on life professions.
The layout of the settlement had been carefully designed. Daycare centers and schools were located near residential zones to facilitate daily access, while the academies, due to their importance and level of rigor, occupied the very heart of the settlement.
Now that I thought about it, all of this had been made possible thanks to professions.
It had all begun barely a month ago, when the system announced that the Genesis Records had been updated and that professions were officially available. That announcement marked a before and after for our society.
Remembering it led me, almost automatically, to summon my own status screen.
"Status," I murmured.
The information appeared before me.

I observed the screen for a few more seconds. It had changed greatly from the way it had operated before.
Before professions existed, I would never have imagined that someone like me could exist in this world. I was not the strongest, nor the fastest, nor the most dangerous in combat. And yet, the system recognized me as something necessary.
A politician.
Someone destined to organize, mediate, plan, and guide.
We were building a civilization that no longer depended solely on strength.
Clarifications
Dear reader:
I have decided to modify the system's interface to make it clearer, and to change the name classes to professions.
Some of you may be wondering: what is the system, and what does it have to do with the Genesis Records?
The Genesis Records were created to fulfill two main functions on the planet:
1. To manage, as a priority, the circulation of origin energy throughout the planet.
2. To guide the inhabitants in their cultivation, helping them ascend more efficiently.
To fulfill this second function, the system exists. It is nothing more than the way the Genesis Records interact with the inhabitants. In essence, the system and the Records are the same; the former is simply the visible interface.
And what is the profession of politician?
It functions similarly to a class in a video game, such as mages, warriors, or hunters. Politicians specialize in leadership and strategy. They possess sharper minds, greater resistance to mental manipulation, and excel in wisdom and cunning.
In exchange, their bodies do not reach the strength of a combat profession. That does not mean that after an ascension they are weak, but rather that they will never be as strong, fast, or resilient as those who have followed the path of combat.
