Chapter 34 - go to her then

Office felt… normal again.

Files. Meetings. Quiet corridors.

Jay walked in with her tablet, already searching for Keifer out of habit.

And then—

she saw him.

Standing near the glass wall.

Talking to one of the employees.

A girl.

Nothing dramatic.

Nothing inappropriate.

He was calm.

Professional.

Polite.

Just… Keifer.

Jay stopped walking.

Her chest tightened for no real reason.

She watched him nod once… say something… smile faintly.

That tiny, harmless smile.

Her mood dropped instantly.

When Keifer finally noticed her, his eyes softened.

He walked straight to her.

"You were looking for me?"

Jay didn't look up.

"I need company."

He blinked.

"…What?"

She turned slowly.

Cold.

Calm.

Pointedly dramatic.

"You seem busy already. Go to her."

Keifer frowned.

"Jay—"

She crossed her arms.

"I said go."

He stared at her for a second.

Then realized.

Oh.

Jealous.

A small smile threatened his lips.

He stepped closer.

"Hey… I was just discussing the client file."

She looked away.

"I don't care."

He sighed softly.

"Okay. I'm sorry."

Jay didn't respond.

Didn't soften.

Didn't even look at him.

He leaned down a little.

"Babe… look at me."

She turned her face the other way.

"No."

He waited.

Nothing.

Then—

his mouth curved into that slow, dangerous teasing smile.

"Oh."

Jay glanced at him suspiciously.

"So…" he said thoughtfully, loud enough to annoy her,

"You're right."

Her eyes snapped to his.

"You are right," he continued seriously.

"She is alone."

Jay's jaw tightened.

"And?"

"She probably needs my company," he added casually.

Silence.

Very dangerous silence.

Jay stepped closer to him.

Her voice dropped.

"Keifer."

He raised an eyebrow.

"If you take one more step in her direction…"

He leaned in.

"Or what?"

She smiled sweetly.

Too sweet.

"I will expose every embarrassing thing about you in front of this entire floor."

His smile froze.

"…You wouldn't."

Jay tilted her head.

"Try me."

He stared at her.

Then laughed quietly.

Okay.

He surrendered.

Hands up.

"Alright. I take it back."

She looked unimpressed.

"I'm coming with you," he said softly.

She narrowed her eyes.

"You were just going to leave me."

"No."

He moved closer and lowered his voice only for her.

"I was just enjoying how cute you look when you're jealous."

She pushed his shoulder.

"Shut up."

He smiled wider.

But when the employee walked past again—

Keifer didn't even look.

His eyes stayed only on Jay.

And very deliberately…

he reached out and gently pulled her closer by her sleeve.

"Come," he said quietly.

"My company is already taken."
