Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Why Is Your Magic Different From Ours?

A Master Sorcerer.

In Kamar-Taj, that was the strongest figure aside from the Ancient One.

How strong was a Master Sorcerer?

Take Wong for example—his combat power could rival the Black Order under Thanos.

Among the Black Order, Black Dwarf had an arm severed by Wong using a Portal.

And Wong didn't only know a single spell.

He was a Master Sorcerer, having mastered most of Kamar-Taj's magic.

Most of what Doctor Strange knew, he knew as well.

With those powerful spells, his strength would increase drastically.

Even among the Avengers, he could be considered top-tier combat power.

At this moment—

The instant he released his aura, the pressure was simply astonishing.

"Master Sorcerer-dono, it's basically impossible for Kamar-Taj to be invaded by outside enemies."

"I'm guessing something else must have happened!"

Guanhe spoke while wiping sweat.

"That's true."

Wong thought for a moment and replied.

For hundreds of years, Kamar-Taj had dealt with countless evil existences—various dark gods, beings from hell—they had picked fights with just about all of them.

But those who could actually fight their way into Kamar-Taj?

Not a single one.

And now, there definitely wouldn't be anyone who could break in either.

"Come on. Let's go see what happened."

Wong said that, then strode out in front.

The two of them asked around as they walked, and soon found the source of the noise.

It was the training room built alongside the mountain wall.

"Who's training in the practice room today?"

Wong asked.

The training room wasn't in use all the time.

It was only opened at intervals when the sorcerers received teachings, or for the training of a small number of sorcerers.

So Wong naturally had that question.

"It seems like it's Karl and Aldrich."

Guanhe wiped the sweat from his forehead as he answered.

He had a bad feeling.

Looking at the cracked mountain wall, why did this style feel so familiar?

Aldrich definitely couldn't make a commotion this big.

Wong had clearly realized that too.

An expression—rare for him—appeared on his face.

"Interesting."

"Come on. Let's go in and take a look."

With that—

Wong led Guanhe straight into the training room.

Inside the training room.

Aldrich was scolding Karl.

"Do you know how dangerous that was just now?"

"If your power had fluctuated even a little, you'd already be dead—do you understand?"

"You would've exploded and died—turned into a pile of rotten flesh, leaving nothing behind, not even bones!"

Aldrich spoke with lingering fear.

"I know you're a genius, but don't treat your own life like a joke."

"Otherwise your talent is completely meaningless."

"Do you understand?"

Aldrich said earnestly.

"I understand, Aldrich-sensei."

"Next time I'll be careful."

Karl answered obediently.

He understood that Aldrich was doing it for his own good.

Aldrich didn't know how terrifying god-tier talent really was, so thinking it was dangerous was completely normal.

They were all adults.

When someone could be good to you without asking for anything in return, how rare was that?

Karl wouldn't be ungrateful.

While the two were talking—

Wong entered from outside with Guanhe.

Aldrich immediately sensed Wong's arrival.

"Master Sorcerer-dono, Sorcerer Guanhe-dono—why are you here?"

Aldrich stepped forward and bowed respectfully.

Karl also followed and bowed honestly.

"With that huge commotion, how could we not come?"

Guanhe rolled his eyes.

"Sorcerer Guanhe-dono, you know me—I'm not someone who likes causing trouble. I didn't do this."

"Master Sorcerer-dono is right here, so don't slander me."

Aldrich said.

Wong had no interest in two sorcerers exchanging pleasantries.

He looked directly at Karl.

Under Wong's gaze, Karl's heart jolted—he felt a kind of pressure on his mind.

But the pressure came quickly and vanished quickly.

It was obvious Wong had unintentionally let it leak out.

Karl thought to himself: Wong is actually this strong? No wonder he's called a Master Sorcerer.

While his thoughts churned—

Wong spoke.

"You're Karl, right?"

"This was you?"

Karl showed an embarrassed expression.

"It was me."

"I was training magic, and I don't have enough control over my strength yet."

Karl was very honest.

His power had increased all at once—of course he needed time to adapt.

"Oh?"

"So this happened because you were practicing a new spell?"

Interest appeared on Wong's face.

He had thought Karl was testing some powerful magic he had already mastered for a long time to produce that kind of destructive force.

Half a mountainside nearly blew apart.

That kind of power wasn't something ordinary magic could pull off.

But he hadn't expected—

This was done while Karl was training a new spell.

This kid really was a genius.

Wong thought.

"What spell were you training just now?"

Wong immediately asked again.

He thought: Could this kid have learned some powerful magic? With that kind of destructive power… could it be the Bolts of Balthakk?

"Kamar-Taj Combat Arts."

Karl answered honestly.

Wong: ???

What?

Wong suspected he had misheard. His usually expressionless face twitched.

If Karl had named some powerful spell, Wong wouldn't have been so shocked.

But what was Kamar-Taj Combat Arts?

It was the most basic body-tempering magic in Kamar-Taj.

If Karl said he had trained it for a long time, Wong could accept it.

If it were him, he could cause that kind of damage with just his physical body.

But Karl was practicing that spell for the first time!

The first time training Kamar-Taj Combat Arts did produce the biggest boost.

After all, a sorcerer's body was fragile at the beginning.

However—

Limited by what the flesh itself could endure, a sorcerer couldn't possibly strengthen that much on the first session.

Yet Karl was telling him—

That commotion was made during his first time training Kamar-Taj Combat Arts.

Who would believe that?

"You're not joking?"

Wong returned to his expressionless state and asked.

"I'll speak for him."

Aldrich stepped in.

"Master Sorcerer-dono, this kid is already at the limit, and this is still just an ordinary spell."

"If he trained those high-power spells, wouldn't that be world-ending?"

"He's lucky, too… otherwise…"

When he heard that, Wong still looked unconvinced.

Forget anything else—regardless of how strong these two really were—

Just listening to what they were saying, how could they be this arrogant?

Wong couldn't help rubbing his head.

Different spells had such huge differences in power.

How was he using an ordinary spell to release such absurdly powerful strength?

Was this the terror of a genius?

But—

Back then, Wong had seen geniuses too.

None of them were like this!

Had he been ignorant?

Or was this genius simply that much more terrifying?
