Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Technology From a Million-Year Civilization Can’t Beat a Sorcerer?!

Karl's magic—

left everyone present utterly stunned.

That overwhelming power… even Thor—who came from Asgard and had seen the grandest of scenes—felt his mind waver.

This kind of power was simply too absurd.

Inside the Chitauri mothership, they very clearly realized that as well.

Several Chitauri Leviathans in the distance circled around, not daring to come any closer to Karl.

Afraid that with a single spell, those warships would be evaporated again.

However.

They had come to invade.

Naturally, they couldn't just retreat like this.

Very soon.

The spatial rift in the sky projected a large number of special devices.

Those devices fused directly into the Chitauri Leviathans as if they were being smelted into one body.

Then they flew straight toward this side.

"Are they coming over here to die?"

Tony Stark scratched his head and spoke in confusion.

But Thor was carefully observing.

Watching the Chitauri Leviathans continuously flying in from the sky,

he seemed to realize something.

Those devices… looked kind of familiar!

Very quickly,

he remembered what they were.

He immediately shouted:

"That sorcerer! Be careful!"

"These are traction-field devices mounted on large tow barges!"

"Most energy attacks will be disrupted!"

"Your attacks might be useless!"

Thor shouted.

At the same time, he was frantic with anxiety.

If the Chitauri used this move against any interstellar civilization, it wouldn't work—

any civilization would have corresponding countermeasures. The energy force fields on large ships could perfectly block this kind of powerful traction field.

But this was Earth!

Its technology was already several tiers behind interstellar civilizations.

And on top of that—

these Chitauri were using a field meant for towing starships to deal with ordinary people. It was shameless!

Even he—if trapped by this field—would have no way out!

This force field could repel all power.

It was like throwing an ordinary person into outer space: nowhere to brace yourself, nothing to push off from—only to be slaughtered at will!

With anxious eyes, Thor looked toward Karl in the middle.

He wanted to help, but had no idea how.

Even Mjolnir would be directly seized by that terrifying power.

Karl naturally heard him too.

"A control force field?"

He didn't hesitate at all.

The Eldritch Whip in his hand snapped out.

On the back of the massive Chitauri Leviathan, the special device released an unusual glow.

Karl's Eldritch Whip—previously unstoppable—actually showed signs of dispersing.

Seeing this, Thor couldn't help but sigh and shake his head.

"So even he has no way?"

"As expected… this is difficult."

"This is equipment made to deal with starships. How could humans respond?"

Thor was a bit dejected.

Against this kind of device, the only option was to destroy the device itself!

In his view, Karl's defeat was already certain.

But he didn't see that Karl still had everything under control—his expression didn't change in the slightest.

[Ding!]

[Detected the host is using the Eldritch Whip to respond to an unknown force field]

[God-tier talent has produced a critical strike; your magic has undergone a mutation]

[Your Eldritch Whip has generated a force-field countermeasure effect!]

Sure enough.

The Miracle Life System's prompt rang out.

A faint smile appeared at the corner of Karl's mouth.

Compete methods with him?

Did they really think his god-tier talent was fake?

The most terrifying part of god-tier talent was that it produced different changes depending on the situation!

Karl didn't hesitate at all.

He snapped the Eldritch Whip out again.

But—

this time was completely different.

His Eldritch Whip was no longer dazzling gold.

Instead, it looked as if it were covered in a humming layer of blue fluorescence.

Under the effect of that glow,

the blue force-field light emitted by those devices on the Chitauri Leviathan… actually failed!

Karl's Eldritch Whip cut across the sky, leaving behind a pale-blue trail.

It looked plain, with no sense of threat at all.

But—

the moment the Eldritch Whip made contact with the Chitauri Leviathan,

it revealed its ferocious fangs in an instant.

Chi!

A soft sound.

The Eldritch Whip pierced effortlessly into the Leviathan's mouth, punching straight through it.

Within a few milliseconds,

the astonishing heat contained in the Eldritch Whip erupted inside the Leviathan.

In just an instant—

the originally gray-white Leviathan turned blazing red,

like a pool of magma.

Several Chitauri Leviathans fell from the sky.

In only a few seconds, the momentum was reversed on the spot!

Even the modified Leviathans weren't a match for Karl in a single exchange!

Silence filled the entire scene.

Thor—who had spoken first—stood there dumbfounded.

"Thor, this feels kind of different from what you said."

Tony Stark muttered a dry complaint.

"Ah… uh…"

Thor had no words.

In his mind, he was roaring madly.

Damn it!

What is going on?!

This is completely unscientific—how can a single living being deal with this kind of attack?

This is equipment specifically made to handle interstellar warships that weigh tens of thousands—hundreds of thousands—of tons! Even huge interstellar warships could be easily dragged by this powerful force field.

And yet—

one sorcerer broke it with magic?

Is that science?

That's not science at all!

Technology weapons developed by major civilizations over millions of years… and they still can't deal with a sorcerer?

Thor was stunned beyond belief.

Over there, the Captain was also watching in total confusion.

"How exactly did he do that?"

"Why is his magic suddenly usable again?"

Captain America's face was full of question marks.

Tony Stark—who had been silent for a long time—finally spoke:

"He captured the force field's energy frequency in an instant."

"Then he used some kind of unknown energy and created another layer of magical shielding over his spell."

"Using that unknown energy shield, he isolated the ship's force-field influence!"

Captain America: ???

Even if I don't understand what you're saying, it sounds incredible!

The shock in Tony Stark's heart was no less than Thor's.

In an instant—

analyzing the opponent's energy encoding method, then countering it with his own power.

That kind of computation speed… was it really something a human could do?

Even J.A.R.V.I.S. probably couldn't do that!

Tony Stark didn't believe that the Chitauri had no encryption at all on their force-field encoding!

Yet even so—

it was cracked in a matter of tens of seconds!

This guy's brain processing speed probably rivaled the legendary "light-brain," right?

Does that still count as human?

And this can be called… magic?!

Tony Stark didn't understand how those energies were encoded or how they took effect.

But he understood the difficulty.

It was like using only your brain to instantly write a computation program that could keep a supercomputer running for years.

That was simply far too absurd.

Tony Stark's heart was filled with shock.

He was starting to doubt his own intelligence.

He had always claimed he was the smartest person on Earth—his intellect could crush anything.

But now—

he felt

maybe he wasn't that smart after all.
