Chapter 4 - Part4:The Counteroffensive of Inazuma: Lü Bu's Doom (Canon Route)

Narrator: Following the previous story, Lü Bu, in an audacious act of treachery, assassinated the Archon and seized complete control of Liyue. Fortunately, the brave and fearless Traveler Aether and his companions successfully rescued the gravely wounded Zhongli from peril, and Keqing even led the remaining routed troops to escape Lü Bu's clutches. Now, the situation has grown increasingly tense. Lü Bu, filled with immense ambition, is preparing to lead a mighty army of 300,000 soldiers, alongside powerful forces such as Yuan Shao and Yuan Shu, on an expedition to Inazuma. Will Traveler Aether and his allies reach Inazuma before Lü Bu? And do they possess the strength to curb his rampant ambition?

Aether, burning with anxiety, shouted: "Hurry, everyone! We must reach Inazuma ahead of Lü Bu!" With that, he and his companions quickly boarded Captain Beidou's vessel, hoisted the sails, rode the wind and cleaved through the waves, speeding toward Inazuma at a lightning-fast pace.

After an arduous voyage, Traveler Aether and his party finally arrived in Inazuma first as they had hoped. No sooner had they set foot on shore than He Chizhe acted decisively, casting a mysterious spell to summon two peerless geniuses of extraordinary intellect—Pang Tong and Zhuge Liang, as well as three mighty generals of the Shu Han: Guan Yu, Zhao Yun, and Zhang Fei. The group gathered together and immediately began intensively discussing strategies to fend off the incoming army of Lü Bu. Zhuge Liang gently flicked his feather fan and spoke slowly: "Lü Bu acts recklessly but possesses unparalleled martial prowess, and he commands a vast number of troops. I have observed that Inazuma is covered in mountains and forests, where we can lay an ambush." Everyone agreed wholeheartedly. Zhang Fei then led a unit to lie in ambush in the eastern valley, Guan Yu guarded the western strategic pass, and Zhao Yun led an elite squad to stand ready for a surprise attack on Lü Bu's central army. Meanwhile, Pang Tong took charge of directing and coordinating the city's defenses.

Before long, Lü Bu's army arrived at the city gates. Seeing the gates of Inazuma standing wide open, he assumed the enemy was too cowardly to fight, and marched his troops straight in. Once they entered the valley, Zhang Fei let out a thunderous roar and charged out, throwing Lü Bu's army into instant disarray. Then Guan Yu also attacked from the flank, and even Lü Bu's unmatched bravery could not withstand the pincer attack. At this moment, Zhao Yun seized the opportunity to charge into the central army, heading straight for Lü Bu. Lü Bu fought desperately, yet he was caught in a deadly crossfire. As Lü Bu fell into panic, raging fire descended from the sky—it was the Inazuman soldiers coordinating with the Shu Han troops to launch a fire attack. The fierce blaze burned his entire fleet to ashes, and countless soldiers in Lü Bu's army were killed or wounded. Seeing that all was lost, Lü Bu fled in a sorry state on a small boat with a handful of remaining troops. Aether let out a sigh of relief as he watched Lü Bu's retreating figure. The crisis was finally lifted, and Inazuma returned to peace, but as long as Lü Bu lived, Inazuma would never be truly safe. So they laid an ambush for the defeated Lü Bu's forces on the coast of Liyue. The Traveler shouted loudly: "Charge! Take Lü Bu's head!" The all-star lineup of Inazuma, the Sleeping Dragon and Young Phoenix of Shu Han, and three of the Five Tiger Generals charged forward together and surrounded Lü Bu's army, trapping him with no way out. Lü Bu then fought back with all his might, unleashing his ultimate technique Unparalleled Flurry and tearing a gap in the encirclement.

Lü Bu: Hmph! A mob of rabble trying to stop me? You're nothing but frogs at the bottom of a well.

After breaking out of the encirclement, Lü Bu fled to Mondstadt with his advisor Chen Gong, Zhang Liao, and the rest of his soldiers—only for a random soldier who appeared out of nowhere to cry: "Disaster! Mondstadt has been occupied by Snezhnaya from the north!" Upon hearing this, Lü Bu was overcome with blinding rage.

Lü Bu: AAAAAAHHHHH!!! Why?!

Lü Bu's remaining troops then fled to Starsnatch Cliff near Mondstadt, only to be surrounded by the ambushing Fatui and Inazuman allied forces. They bound both of Lü Bu's arms with iron chains. As Lü Bu struggled furiously, Guan Yu, Zhao Yun, Zhang Fei, and Traveler Aether thrust their weapons into his chest and abdomen. Lü Bu breathed his last, falling from Starsnatch Cliff to slumber eternally beneath the water. Thereupon, Aether pointed his sword at the sky and shouted: "Master Jean, Amber, Kaeya, the common people, and the immortals of Liyue—we have avenged you!" And so, after the war ended, Chen Gong was beheaded, Zhang Liao was exiled, and even Lü Bu's steed Red Hare became Guan Yu's mount. Peace was restored not only to Teyvat, but also to the Eastern Han Dynasty. However, this is the canonical ending of the Tale of Lü Bu; an IF route is currently in production—stay tuned!
