Chapter 12 - Part11:The Battle of Nazuchi Plain and Yashiori Island

Inazuma: Twilight of the Goddess — The Calamity of the Divine Fall

On the continent of Teyvat, Inazuma—a realm woven from thunder and dreams—has long shone with a unique allure.

Nazuchi Plain bears the eerie residual energy of an ancient archon war; its seething ley lines fill the air with the faint scent of sulfur.

Yashiori Island, where age-old rituals and mysterious legends intertwine, hides unspoken perils beneath its surface.

Yet a brutal war, launched by the Fatui of Snezhnaya, is quietly shattering the land's peace.

Snezhnaya, a nation eternally blanketed in ice, is ruled by the Cryo Archon, whose grand ambition is to upend the order of the Seven.

As her sharpest blades, the Fatui have long plotted in the shadows across every nation. This time, they have set their sights on Inazuma.

The rich mineral veins of Nazuchi Plain and the mysterious energy of Yashiori Island are both coveted prizes.

And though Inazuma appears stable, undercurrents of strife stir among its factions—an ideal opening, the Fatui believe, for invasion.

The Harbingers gather in the palace of Snezhnaya, debating their plan to strike Inazuma.

"This mission must succeed at all costs. Inazuma's resistance is not to be underestimated—especially Yae Miko," one Harbinger declares solemnly.

"Hmph. What of Yae Miko? We are fully prepared. Nazuchi Plain's terrain is complex, but our vanguards will map it. Yashiori Island may have ancient guardians, yet our new weapons will prevail," another replies confidently.

Before long, a massive Fatui fleet appears in Inazuma's waters.

From the watchtowers of Nazuchi Plain, guards spot the dense fleet on the horizon and sound the alarm at once.

Villages erupt into chaos; villagers panic, while soldiers rally swiftly to meet the enemy.

As the Fatui ships dock, soldiers pour forth like a tide and launch their assault.

Armed with advanced firearms, their overwhelming firepower pins down Inazuma's defenders.

"Charge! Seize this land!" the Fatui soldiers roar, advancing deeper into Nazuchi Plain.

Meanwhile, Yashiori Island also comes under attack.

Its residents take up arms and fight the invaders with their lives, but the Fatui are far too powerful.

Wielding Cryo and eerie mechanical constructs, they gradually break through the island's defenses.

Upon learning that Nazuchi Plain and Yashiori Island are under siege, the Shogunate sends reinforcements immediately.

Yae Miko, the wise and beautiful Guuji of the Grand Narukami Shrine, resolves to enter the fray herself.

Clad in her elegant shrine maiden attire, her eyes burn with unyielding resolve.

"The Fatui have grown far too arrogant. This time, I will make them pay dearly," she murmurs.

Yae Miko arrives at Nazuchi Plain and flicks her fan, unleashing tremendous foxfire.

The foxfire dances like nimble flame spirits, surging toward Fatui soldiers and engulfing them in an instant.

Caught off guard by the sudden assault, the Fatui fall back in disarray.

"Yae Miko is far stronger than we anticipated. We have underestimated her," one Fatui officer mutters, frowning.

Still, the Fatui do not retreat. They quickly regroup and focus their fire on her.

Cryo spells and gunfire rain down. Yae Miko weaves through the barrage, evading strike after strike with masterful skill—but the enemy's assault grows fiercer, and she begins to tire.

On Yashiori Island, a Fatui Harbinger personally enters the battle.

He commands overwhelming Cryo power, plunging the island's temperature to a deadly extreme.

Inazuma's defenders shiver uncontrollably, their combat strength crippled.

"This land belongs to Snezhnaya today!" the Harbinger laughs arrogantly.

When Yae Miko learns of Yashiori Island's desperate situation, she rushes to aid it.

But by the time she arrives, the island is nearly fully occupied by the Fatui.

Gazing at the devastated landscape, her heart fills with rage and grief.

"You invaders—this day shall be your last!" she roars, unleashing her full power once more.

Yet the Fatui Harbinger has been waiting for this.

Together with his soldiers, he launches a fatal strike against her.

In the fierce clash, Yae Miko is struck by an ice spike; blood stains her robes.

"Lady Miko!" the Inazuma soldiers cry out.

Yae Miko clings to consciousness, knowing she has reached her limit—but she refuses to surrender.

With her last strength, she casts a mighty foxfire forbidden art.

Gigantic flames engulf the surrounding Fatui in an instant.

But as the curse unleashes, Yae Miko collapses to the ground, her eyes closed forever.

With Yae Miko's fall, Inazuma's resistance collapses entirely.

The Fatui successfully seize Nazuchi Plain and Yashiori Island, establishing strongholds, plundering resources, and ruling Inazuma with increasing cruelty.

A heavy gloom falls over Inazuma's skies, dimmed of their former radiance.

The fall of Nazuchi Plain and Yashiori Island, and the sacrifice of Yae Miko, become an eternal wound in the hearts of Inazuma's people.

But they are not broken.

On this scarred land, seeds of resistance quietly take root, waiting for the day they break through the soil—to fight for Inazuma's freedom and dignity.
