Chapter 41 - Part40:The Cleansing of Dragonspine

The Snow Demon of Dragonspine Falls,

The Flying General Rages Against the Storm

Lü Bu stood at the foot of Dragonspine in Mondstadt. A bitter wind lashed at him, carrying blizzards that made his crimson cloak flap loudly. He lifted his eyes to the mountains, eternally blanketed in ice, and frowned slightly. The tip of his Sky-Shattering Halberd tapped gently against the ground, letting out a dull thud.

"Hmph. A pack of monsters dare to run amok here? Today, I shall exterminate you all!"

With that, he leaped onto Red Hare. The horse's hooves scraped the snow, kicking up a cloud of white mist, as they galloped deep into the mountains.

Shortly after entering Dragonspine, Lü Bu encountered his first wave of monsters. A horde of Hilichurls, clutching crude weapons, howled and closed in from all directions. Their bodies were covered in frost; small in stature, but countless, they surrounded Lü Bu and his steed completely.

Lü Bu curled his lips into a scornful smile. He squeezed his legs against the horse's belly. Red Hare neighed, leaped high, and broke straight through the Hilichurls' encirclement. Lü Bu whirled his Sky-Shattering Halberd. Its blade sliced through the air, leaving trails of cold light. Wherever it struck, Hilichurls fell screaming. Their blood splattered onto the snow, only to be instantly swallowed by the blizzard.

After disposing of this group, Lü Bu pressed onward. The deeper he ventured into Dragonspine, the colder the air and the harsher the terrain. The blizzard raged, visibility plummeted, yet Lü Bu's sharp senses still warned him of approaching danger.

A massive Ice Slime rolled down the snow slope, crashing toward him. Unfazed, Lü Bu swung his halberd and stabbed fiercely into the slime. The tip pierced its body, and the overwhelming force shattered it in an instant. The Ice Slime exploded into countless icy fragments.

Before he could catch his breath, a group of Cryo Abyss Mages suddenly appeared. Clad in black robes, their staffs glowed with dim blue light as they chanted incantations. In an instant, massive ice spikes materialized and shot toward Lü Bu.

His gaze sharpened. Lü Bu guided Red Hare to dodge left and right, while swinging his halberd to block every incoming spike. The ice shards clanged against the weapon, bursting into layers of frost flowers.

"Cheap tricks!" Lü Bu roared.

He burst forward with explosive speed, like a black bolt of lightning, breaking straight through the mages' magical defenses. His Sky-Shattering Halberd moved with terrifying power. Within a few rounds, most of the Cryo Abyss Mages lay dead or dying. The survivors turned to flee, but Lü Bu would not grant them mercy. He nocked an arrow, drew his bow, and sent the projectile whistling through the air, striking down each fleeing mage with perfect accuracy.

With the mages defeated, Lü Bu continued deeper into Dragonspine. By now, he had reached the ruins of Sal Vindagnyr. A mysterious, dangerous aura hung in the air. The surrounding structures were broken and buried under ice, giving the place a grim, terrifying atmosphere.

Lü Bu scanned his surroundings cautiously. Suddenly, a low, rumbling roar erupted from beneath the ground. The earth shook violently, and a colossal Ice Wind Dragon burst forth from the soil.

This Ice Wind Dragon was enormous, its body wreathed in piercing wind and bitter cold. Its wings stretched dozens of meters wide; each beat stirred up a gale that sent snow swirling everywhere. It roared and blasted a powerful ice breath toward Lü Bu. Everything it touched froze solid in an instant.

Lü Bu quickly urged Red Hare to the side. He knew how formidable this beast was and dared not underestimate it. Red Hare darted nimbly through the snow, evading the dragon's assaults. Lü Bu seized an opening, pushed hard against the stirrups, and leaped high into the air. His Sky-Shattering Halberd, charged with unstoppable momentum, stabbed toward the Ice Wind Dragon.

Sensing danger, the dragon flapped its wings, unleashing a violent gust to blow Lü Bu away. Yet Lü Bu's physique and martial skill were peerless. He stabilized himself mid-air and pressed onward relentlessly. He drew closer and closer, the light of his halberd growing brighter.

Just as he was about to strike home, the Ice Wind Dragon suddenly exhaled a wave of freezing energy, enveloping Lü Bu. His body turned ice-cold, and his movements slowed abruptly. The dragon seized the chance to swipe its claws at him.

Lü Bu's eyes widened. He quickly raised his halberd to block. The claws crashed against the weapon with a deafening boom. The tremendous force sent Lü Bu flying backward, slamming him into the snow.

"Hmph… Not bad."

Lü Bu climbed back to his feet, wiped the blood from his mouth, his gaze firm and unyielding. He took a deep breath, channeled his inner strength, and prepared to attack again. This time, he did not charge recklessly. Instead, he observed the dragon's attack patterns and searched for its weak point.

After careful study, Lü Bu realized the dragon's underbelly was relatively vulnerable. He directed Red Hare to circle the beast, constantly looking for an opening. Enraged by his movements, the Ice Wind Dragon unleashed ice breath and swiped its claws repeatedly, but Lü Bu and Red Hare moved in perfect sync, dodging every strike with graceful precision.

At last, Lü Bu found his perfect chance.

He spurred Red Hare into a burst of speed, then leaped high. Using the horse's momentum, he dived toward the dragon's abdomen. The Ice Wind Dragon sensed the threat and tried to evade, but it was too late. Lü Bu drove his Sky-Shattering Halberd deep into the soft flesh, the overwhelming force piercing straight through its body.

The Ice Wind Dragon let out a agonized roar. Its body swayed unsteadily. It struggled to flap its wings, making one final resistance. Lü Bu showed no mercy. He pulled his halberd free and attacked again.

Under his relentless assault, the Ice Wind Dragon could no longer hold on. It crashed to the ground with a thunderous boom, sending a huge cloud of snow into the air.

With the Ice Wind Dragon's fall, the monsters throughout Dragonspine seemed to lose their will to fight. Lü Bu pressed his advantage, wiping out the remaining creatures one by one.

When the last monster fell, Lü Bu exhaled deeply and sheathed his Sky-Shattering Halberd. He gazed upon the now-pacified Dragonspine, a sense of accomplishment swelling within him.

"Hmph. Now the people of Mondstadt can rest easy."

With that, he mounted Red Hare once more and slowly descended the mountain.
