Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Secondary Professions

Awakening the Martial Soul and obtaining a soul spirit. Next was choosing a secondary profession.

To become a Battle Armor Master and possess one's own battle armor, one needs to join one of the four processes: Blacksmith, Mecha Designer, Mecha Maker, or Mecha Repairman, which respectively represent the design, Materials, production, and repair of battle armor.

Arthur wasn't too worried about choosing a secondary profession. No matter what, as long as his strength was sufficient, it was impossible for him not to become a Battle Armor Master.

Why say that? Because there was the life-saving profession of Mecha Repairman.

High-level battle armor can automatically repair itself when damaged, so a Mecha Repairman doesn't have much of a role in that. Moreover, both designers and makers can do their own repairs after advanced study.

Then why can Mecha Repairman be ranked alongside the other three major professions?

Eh!

Mecha Repairman is specifically for slackers and those who want a free ride!

Battle armor is completed after the three steps of design, Materials, and production. Repair is something for the future, which gives some slackers a chance to be Battle Armor Masters.

Design is mentally taxing, blacksmithing is physically taxing, and production is hard on the hands. Slackers just choose the useless repair profession to go through the motions.

"Have you thought about what profession to choose?"

Agravaine had more confidence in Arthur becoming a Battle Armor Master than Arthur did himself. He knew the ins and outs of this very well; after all, he was a Mecha Repairman.

He hadn't really done any repairs since obtaining his three-word battle armor. Minor issues didn't need attention, as the battle armor would fix itself. Major damage wasn't worth repairing; it was easier to just build a new one.

"Blacksmithing, I'll try that first." Arthur made his choice easily.

Design and production were still too mentally demanding. Although blacksmithing also required talent, the proportion of Soul Power cultivation and strength was greater.

Arthur was self-aware; he wasn't very smart. In his previous life, he couldn't even understand advanced mathematics or physics, let alone learn mecha design.

Blacksmithing was better; with a bit of strength, one could achieve decent success.

If blacksmithing didn't work out, he'd just settle for repair and be a slacker.

"Blacksmithing, huh? Blacksmithing is fine." Agravaine's eyes darted around, and he patted his chest, giving a guarantee. "Don't worry, Little Arthur. Your uncle will find you an Eight-Star Saint Craftsman as a teacher right away!"

An Eight-Star Saint Craftsman... Arthur knew exactly who this old geezer was looking for without even thinking.

The President of the East Sea City Blacksmith Association—Mu Chen.

Agravaine and Mu Chen were classmates. Back when they studied at Shrek Academy, they were partners in the same team, and their relationship was so good they were like brothers.

"Old geezer, if I remember correctly, you still owe Uncle Mu Chen the Materials money for a whole set of three-word battle armor."

"How do you have the nerve to ask him to be my teacher now?" Arthur looked closely at Agravaine's expression but couldn't find a hint of embarrassment.

"Don't worry, a little begging will make it happen."

"But it's not even certain if I have talent for blacksmithing."

"Eh, that's where you're wrong."

Agravaine retorted lightheartedly, "So what if it's not certain!"

He spoke as if it were natural, "Connections are meant for people without talent!"

"If you had talent in blacksmithing, I wouldn't even look for him!"

"If you have talent, plenty of Saint Craftsmen would come looking for you themselves."

Hiss!

Put that way, it seemed true.

Arthur realized.

The less talent you have, the more you should use connections to get in through the back door!

Indeed, an elder in the house is like a treasure.

After the uncle and nephew reached an agreement, both being highly proactive, they set off immediately. They got into a Spirit Conduction Tower private car.

Target: Mu Chen!

...The East Sea City Blacksmith Association was located in one of the most prosperous areas. It was a grey building about thirty stories high, with a giant hammer pattern hanging on the outside.

Passersby outside the building couldn't help but look up in longing, no matter how many times they had passed it.

And today, the Blacksmith Association welcomed one... two uninvited guests.

A burly middle-aged man walked through the glass doors on the first floor, followed by a little blonde, blue-eyed boy.

The receptionist was a beautiful young woman in a grey professional suit. Her eyes instantly locked onto the cute child in front. His refreshing short golden hair paired with azure eyes gave off an elegant and noble feeling, even for a child. His pure aura made her want to pull him into her arms and squeeze him.

"Little boy, you..."

The receptionist's figure suddenly froze as she went to greet him. She only then saw clearly who was beside the child.

Dragon Sparrow Douluo!

This name was like thunder in the girl's ears.

Not because of the Dragon Sparrow Douluo's powerful cultivation, nor because of his status as the Branch Master of the Donghai Spirit Pagoda.

Rather, the Dragon Sparrow Douluo was a famous beggar in the East Sea City Blacksmith Association!

He often freeloaded metal Materials from the Blacksmith Association. President Mu Chen had long since put him on the association's blacklist.

The girl turned around smoothly, pretending not to see. Although the President had strictly forbidden the Dragon Sparrow Douluo and dogs from entering, the girl didn't stop him.

Not to mention he was a Titled Douluo.

Anyone with eyes in the Blacksmith Association could see that the President and the Dragon Sparrow Douluo were close friends; the ban was just talk. If he were really stopped outside, the President would be unhappy again.

"Is Mu Chen here?" Agravaine asked politely after entering the Blacksmith Association.

The girl lowered her head, not daring to meet his eyes.

"Your Excellency Dragon Sparrow, he... he is. The President is in his office."

"Oh, good."

Agravaine pulled Arthur along without hindrance, while the Blacksmiths avoided them like the plague.

Walking familiarly to the door of Mu Chen's office, he suddenly kicked the door open.

"Dog Mu, I need a favor!"

His voice arrived before he did.

Inside the office, a middle-aged man in his forties or fifties sat at the desk. He was handsome and burly, wearing silver-grey athletic wear.

A badge hung on his left chest. The background of the badge was gold, with a slightly raised hammer pattern, just like the one outside the building.

There were also eight black stars on the badge, representing that this middle-aged man was a noble Eight-Star Saint Craftsman Blacksmith.

"Hiss... Phew..."

Mu Chen held his forehead with one hand in a headache. He took a few deep breaths to suppress his anger. "Speak. Which part of your battle armor is broken again? What Materials do you need?"

"I'll forge it for you when I have time in the next few days. Now get lost and wait for the message. I'm busy right now."

For the past two years, Agravaine had been hunting Evil Soul Masters like crazy everywhere. Under high-intensity, non-stop combat, his three-word battle armor couldn't handle the strain even if it could self-repair. Parts often became completely inactive, and he would come to Mu Chen for re-forging.

Once, Agravaine actually caught two Titled Douluo-level Evil Soul Masters and killed them at the cost of his three-word battle armor being completely destroyed. He had to have a new set made later.

"It's not that. This time I'm here for my nephew. I want to ask you to teach him blacksmithing."

Agravaine noticed the girl standing next to Mu Chen.

"Oh, Xiao Xi is here too."
