The Butler Who Saw Through the Darkness
Lane searched the room from top to bottom before moving on to the next one.
Nothing.
She checked another room.
Still nothing.
Then she moved on to a third.
Nothing there, either.
Her patience was beginning to wear thin.
'Come on... There has to be something here.'
She let out a quiet sigh and turned toward the next door. Whatever Felberta was hiding, it had to be somewhere in this shop. Lane refused to believe she had gone through all this trouble for nothing.

A rush of wind swept across her face. The sheer force behind the attack was enough to make her skin tingle.
Then came a heavy impact.
The air trembled faintly.
Lane's eyes sharpened.
