Jay's POV
We finally reached Percy's condo, and the moment I stepped inside, I threw myself onto the couch with a sigh of relief. The soft cushions swallowed me whole, and for a second, I just let myself breathe. Percy headed straight for the kitchen, rummaging through cupboards like he always does when he's hungry.
"I'm starving , I haven't eaten since yesterday." I groaned
While Percy emerged a minute later with a handful of snacks and a bottle of soda. He tossed me a packet of crisps.
"Percy," I said hesitanting . He looked up from the TV .
"What is it, baby sistah?" he asked with a teasing grin.
I sat up. "Can I— can I go to London with you? For college, I mean. Please?" I gave him my best puppy eyes, hoping he'd say yes. "Anywhere but here, Percy. I just… I need a fresh start."
His grin faded, replaced by a serious look I rarely saw. He leaned back, studying me for a long moment. "You sure ?"
I nodded. " yeah "
He sighed, but there was a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "okay, fine get ready, we're leaving tomorrow. I'll sort out all the legal papers stuff tonight."
I blinked, hardly believing what I'd just heard. "Wait, really?"
"Really," he said, this time with a smile.
Finally, a fresh start
Percy said he was going to make dinner. I just laughed because the last time he tried to cook, he almost burned the pan.
"You sure you know what you're doing?" I asked, sitting on the counter.
"Of course I do," he said, pretending to be all serious. "Chef Percy is in the house!"
I rolled my eyes. "Uh‑huh. We'll see."
The whole condo started to smell like garlic, and it actually made my stomach growl. When he finally put the food on the table, it didn't look that good — but I was too hungry to care.
I took one bite and my eyes went wide. "This is… actually good!"
Percy smirked. "Told you."
We both laughed and kept eating.
Percy looked at me after a while and said, "So, London, huh? You still wanna go?"
I nodded. "Yeah. Anywhere but here."
He smiled, "Okay then. We'll leave tomorrow."
"Really?" I asked cause I thought he was joking before
"Really," he said. "But you're washing the dishes."
"Ugh, fine," I said, but I didn't even care. I was too happy
