The sea was more restless than ever tonight.
I had a bad feeling about this night.
Like something was going to go wrong.
I tried to sleep, but I just couldn't. The wind was blowing hard, and the windows were rattling. Like it was trying to warn me about something.
My bed felt hard as stone.
Sleeping wasn't an option anymore.
I put on a jacket and my limited edition white and black Converse and opened my door.
Hopefully, a walk along the beach would –
Something went flying past my face, a slipper.
What?
Where did it come from? I looked to my side.
Seraphina was shouting at some poor girl trying to shoo her away.
But with a slipper?!
The girl ran away as Seraphina noticed me.
"She was trying to click a picture of Hope with her. But the threat is gone now. I, Seraphina the Great, have shooed the threat away with a slipper!!" Seraphina said to me, as if it could explain the fact that she was shouting in the middle of the hallway at 10:00 pm.
I sighed and turned away, continuing my walk down the hallway.I stepped into the grand reception of the building. Made of marble floors and walls with shining crystal chandeliers and big, comfy, cushioned sofas.
Pushing open the large glass reception door, I stepped into the night, the sea stretching out in front of me.
Deep.
Wide.
Endless
The sea roared in my ears, and my head started pounding.
"Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to come here…" I muttered under my breath.
Then I saw the most unusual sight of my life – a man on the rocks near the sea with no legs.
Wait.
No.
It looked like a tail. And then suddenly he had normal human legs!
I rubbed my eyes. I must be seeing things.
The man disappeared.
I jumped, startled.
Perhaps it would be better if I went inside.
Just as I turned around, I heard something.
A scream.
From Hope's balcony.
I ran inside and to Hope's room and saw Seraphina standing at the gate.
" Where's Hope?" I asked her urgently.
"Inside. Why?" She answered.
"I heard a scream," I said.
"What! Are you sure?" She said as she opened the door
"Hope!" I called out.
Silence answered.
Seraphina ran in, checking every corner of their room, panicking.
But she wasn't there.
My eyes widened as realization hit me.
The ocean.
No. It couldn't have taken her.
No. No. No.
Suddenly, someone put a hand over my mouth and tied my hands together.
I saw that Seraphina was captured, too.
And then the light faded, and blackness claimed the corners of my eyes, and I fell to the floor.
