Chapter 41 - Pure Cultivation

Even to the wisest, most knowledgeable immortals and cultivators, a specific reason for a person to enter a pure state of cultivation, but they are well aware of multiple circumstances and conditions for one to enter this state.

For one, and perhaps the most difficult requirement among everything, is to enter a state where one is truly at peace, a state that sounds easy to achieve, but is nigh impossible to reach not only for normal people, but even for geniuses and prodigies as well.

After all, even the most selfless of saints, even the most emotionless and unfeeling person has this one thing, one desire that truly bothers them and gnaw deep in their heart, a desire that makes them unable to truly find themselves at peace so long as it is not met.

There are all other set of requirements that one has to meet, but those are ones that relies more on a cultivator's talent and luck, meaning that while also extremely hard, crossing the hurdle of finding true peace is that one hardest first step that one has to take in order to enter the pure state of cultivation.

This is exactly the reason as to why even the one who managed to stand at the peak of existence, Xing Yuandao, this world's Argus, couldn't figure out why is it that such kind of blessing came to him unannounced, the pressure of devourers threatening to end the very world he is now living in something that weighs on his mind quite a bit, not to mention how much he needs to prepare himself in order to deal with the consequences of him changing how things should end up from now on.

Perhaps it is because of the fact that he is quite, if not fully confident in gaining strength capable of dealing with the problems that is about to come, perhaps it is because the peaceful stroll back home relieves his mind of the worries of the burdens he has to carry, or perhaps it is because his own body, tired because of the long process of cultivation as well as the things he had to do today, but all things gets tied up and presented to him an opportunity that he never expected would come in this life of his.

That pure state of cultivation itself allows him to not only improve his cultivation speed faster than usual, but also improve both the Pure Heaven True Circulation Art and the Nine Stellar Palace Scripture as well, causing him to smile as he closes his eyes, starting to inspect that changes that this sudden blessing brought to his body.

'So I wasn't just imagining things…'

He thought to himself as a smile starts creeping up his face, his fists clenched in excitement as he watches spirit energy circulating all across his body, through his meridians, to his organs, silently, slowly and surely tempering each and every single fiber of his being, making it stronger and elevating it to a far higher state.

These changes per moment might've been extremely miniscule, but is more than enough for him to feel the difference of improvement from the previous moment, and as someone who had lived long enough in the world of cultivation, he is well aware of just how significant these miniscule changes are once they started accumulating in the long run.

While these changes sure are significant, it has always been there even before this sudden enlightenment, hence it is not truly the thing that surprises Argus the most, instead, it is something closely related to this small but consistent improvement, and that is the speed of circulation of spirit energy within his body.

The amount of spirit energy that he can refine and circulate within a given amount of time has now been doubled, pushing his cultivation speed to new heights, and the greatest part of it all wasn't even that.

'I saw it… something better than augmented circulation…'

He added in his mind as he felt like a new door was open and left ajar in front of him, the enlightenment regarding his cultivation technique something that doesn't quite match the usual description of the benefits of a pure state of cultivation, as he neither managed to improve the power of his cultivation art, nor did he pushed said cultivation arts to a greater level.

In exchange for that however, he managed to glimpse into something that no one, perhaps even the heavens, had ever witnessed or thought of before, a glimpse into a path that is made solely by him, for him alone.

And to this young man, who had come to appreciate and perhaps even love the feeling of forging far greater power through path unknown to everyone, this is the greatest enlightenment he could ever receive, far more than any amount and level of improvement that one can acquire through the enlightenment of their cultivation art and techniques.

It is also due to this reason that he wasn't able to cultivate for nearly the entire remaining night after he was awakened from the enlightenment, as even despite the wit and composure he had gained after great years of experience being a cultivator dragged through all sorts of illogical situations, just calming himself becomes a struggle as just like a child to his new toy, he just couldn't help but wonder what sort of possibility this gift to him holds.

Of course, once the sun starts rising from the east, the young man had already managed to calm himself once again, his mind, after regaining some semblance of tranquility, concluded that there's nothing he can do about this gift other than waiting for it to completely become his no matter how excited he is about it.

With those thoughts, he then forces the anticipation to the back of his mind as he returns to cultivation in his earnest, knowing full well that in the future, once he comprehends this path he is now threading in a more in depth manner, he will get his chance to take a glimpse to what potential is hiding behind that door once more, a potential that not even himself as the greatest sage to ever exist, had ever imagined before.

Now with the wind gently swirling around him once again as he starts absorbing spirit energy from the surroundings, Argus continues with the improvement of his body as both the Pure Heaven True Circulation Art and the Nine Stellar Palace Scripture starts working magic on his body.

The overbearing, extreme and powerful nature of the Nine Stellar Palace Scripture hitting his flesh organs and bones with strength far greater than any body tempering method could bring, forcing his flesh to the edge of ruination and collapse before his main cultivation art saves him from the havoc the scripture brought.

Despite the fact that the modified Pure Heaven True Circulation Art that Argus has created and is using for himself is far from a gentle cultivation method, the effect of its circulation greatly bolstered the rate of his regeneration and recovery, allowing the cycle of tempering through destruction and creation to perpetuate, pushing his strength to greater heights, a great greeting and start to the new morning already approaching.
