Chapter 55 - CHAPTER FIFTY FIVE

Yu Weiwei was still sitting in the classroom, listening to Lisa talk about the upcoming inter-orbit tournaments while occasionally asking questions about Evander.

He had absolutely no idea that his peaceful life had just taken another step towards becoming anything but peaceful.

Evander, who had seen the argument unfolding on the Starnet, was a little stunned. He was both angry and bewildered at the same time, and for a moment, he didn't even know how to react to the situation.

To be honest, he thought Yu Weiwei's beauty was far superior to his own. There was simply no comparison between them, at least not in his eyes. If he were to be completely honest, he would even admit that Yu Weiwei was so beautiful that he could stare at him all day without getting tired of it.

However, if he were to say something like that publicly, it would probably cause even more chaos.

After all, the people arguing on the Starnet were already at each other's throats over something as trivial as whose face was more handsome. If the War God himself suddenly appeared to declare that Yu Weiwei was more beautiful than him, who knew what kind of uproar that would cause?

Thinking about the potential consequences, Evander decided that it would be better to keep his thoughts to himself.

After informing Xiao Baobao to deal with the matter and prevent it from spiralling out of control, he comfortably settled down and began browsing through the comments section.

Of course, he wasn't simply there to watch the drama unfold.

How could he possibly sit back and watch those people slander Yu Weiwei's beauty?

Therefore, under the cover of his alternate account, Evander began fighting Yu Weiwei's opponents in the comment section. To put it more accurately, most of the people he was arguing against were his own fans.

If his fans could see what their beloved War God was doing at that moment, they would probably have questioned everything they had ever believed in.

After all, their idol, the mighty War God who commanded respect on the battlefield and whose very presence could make countless soldiers straighten their backs, was currently hiding behind an alternate account and arguing with his own fans over the appearance of another person.

And the worst part was that he was taking the argument very seriously.

Every time someone claimed that Evander was obviously more handsome than Yu Weiwei, he would immediately appear in the comments to refute their claims. Sometimes, he would even go as far as analysing the pictures in detail, pointing out the different aspects of Yu Weiwei's appearance that made him stand out.

His arguments were so passionate that anyone who stumbled across his comments would have thought he was Yu Weiwei's most devoted fan.

Well, in a sense, they wouldn't have been entirely wrong.

While Evander was busy exploding with anger at the outrageous comments appearing on the Starnet, he suddenly came across a rather peculiar group of people who seemed to have sprouted in the cracks of this great war.

Unlike the others, who were busy arguing over whether Yu Weiwei or Evander was more handsome, these people appeared to have discovered an entirely different source of entertainment.

They were CP fans shipping Evander and Yu Weiwei together.

At first, Evander was bewildered.

He stared at the comments for a moment, wondering whether he had misunderstood what he was seeing. After all, what did Yu Weiwei have to do with him in that regard?

Then, confusion followed.

Why were these people shipping them together? Where had they even gotten such an idea? Wasn't this supposed to be a discussion about their appearances? How had it suddenly turned into a discussion about their relationship?

Evander clicked on one of the comments, hoping to understand what was going on, only to find himself falling into a rabbit hole that seemed to have no end.

The more he read, the more confused he became.

Some people were analysing their appearances, claiming that the two of them would make an exceptionally beautiful couple. Others were imagining what their interactions would be like, while a few particularly enthusiastic fans had already begun discussing their supposed compatibility.

There were even people who had given them a CP name and started to write fanfic s with them as the main characters!

Evander stared at the screen, his expression becoming increasingly complicated.

What nonsense was this?

He and Yu Weiwei had barely interacted. In fact, he hadn't even seen the boy in half a year, so where had these people found the confidence to pair them together?

It was absurd!

Absolutely absurd!

At least, that was what Evander told himself at first.

However, as he continued scrolling through the comments, his expression gradually changed.

The more he read, the more he found himself unable to look away. He began clicking on one post after another, reading the discussions with an interest that he would never have admitted to having if someone had asked him directly.

Then came denial.

He didn't like Yu Weiwei that way!

He was merely curious about what these people were saying. That was all. There was nothing strange about wanting to understand why so many people had suddenly decided to pair him with a boy he had known since childhood.

Besides, Yu Weiwei was still young, and their relationship had never been anything more than that of an older acquaintance and a younger boy he had met years ago.

There was absolutely no reason for him to entertain such thoughts.

None whatsoever!

Unfortunately, the more Evander tried to convince himself, the less convincing his arguments became.

Before long, he had gone through the five stages of denial, and by the time he reached the final stage, he had shamelessly dived headfirst into the CP fandom.

He began reading every post and every novels he could find about himself and Yu Weiwei, paying particular attention to the ones that discussed their compatibility. Whenever he came across a particularly interesting comment, he would pause to read it several times before continuing.

Some of the fans' analyses were ridiculous, but others were surprisingly entertaining.

And the more he read, the more he found himself thinking that perhaps these people weren't entirely unreasonable.

After all, Yu Weiwei was indeed beautiful, and he didn't dislike the idea of being paired with him.

In fact, if he were to be honest with himself, he rather liked it.

This discovery left Evander staring at the screen for a long moment.

Then, as though he had finally reached an important conclusion, he continued scrolling through the posts with an entirely different attitude.

He had already made up his mind.

Since these people had taken the initiative to create a CP fandom for him and Yu Weiwei, he might as well see what they had to offer.

It wasn't as though he was doing anything wrong by reading a few posts, right?

Meanwhile, Xiao Baobao, who had been keeping an eye on the comments section while carrying out Evander's instructions, gradually noticed something strange.

At first, the AI guardian had been focused on monitoring the argument and ensuring that the situation didn't escalate beyond control. However, after noticing Evander's increasingly suspicious activity, Xiao Baobao couldn't help turning its attention towards him.

The longer it observed him, the more confused it became.

Wasn't His Royal Highness supposed to be dealing with the people who were arguing about Yu Weiwei's appearance?

Then why was he spending so much time browsing through a completely different section of the Starnet?

Curiosity eventually got the better of Xiao Baobao, and after checking what Evander was looking at, it suddenly froze.

A moment later, its entire system seemed to tremble with excitement.

It had discovered a huge secret!

Evander seemed to like Yu Weiwei!

But that was absurd!

Xiao Baobao almost wanted to check its own systems to make sure that it hadn't malfunctioned. After all, it had known Evander for a long time, and it was very certain that the man hadn't harboured any romantic thoughts towards Yu Weiwei when they last met.

The two of them had only met when Yu Weiwei was three years old!

Three!

What romantic feelings could a half grown man possibly develop towards a three-year-old child?

Xiao Baobao was absolutely certain that there had been nothing of the sort back then. It had been there, after all, and it hadn't detected anything unusual about Evander's attitude towards the little boy.

So, what the hell was going on now?!

Had Evander suddenly developed feelings for Yu Weiwei after half a year without seeing him? Or had something happened that Xiao Baobao had somehow failed to notice?

The AI guardian stared at the screen, then at Evander, who was still enthusiastically browsing through the CP fandom, and finally back at the screen.

For the first time in a long while, Xiao Baobao felt that its processing capabilities were insufficient for the situation before it.
