Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Vincent

The office clocked ticked slowly along with the sound of fingers typing on keyboards, the screens of desktops illuminated as a black haired male looked at a photo of a man in a park, gutted, surrounded by caution tape and subtle ash darkening the grass "this makes no sense" he mumbled to himself

"What are you mumbling about over there vini" the brown male asked as he scooted over in his chair, causing a screeching sound in the office

"I'm not going to answer you until you call me proper name" vincent replied as he kept his attention on the screen

"Your such a stick in the mud, vincent" Cameron retorted mockingly as he looked at vincents computer

"Damn, thats brutal...wait that looks like" Cameron paused realizing he was speaking out loud, this caused vincent to turn to face him

"what?"

"Nothing" Cameron answered before spinning around in his chair with his back now facing Vincent

"you'll figure out your case, without my useless commentary" he replied before going back to his desk. Vincent watched Cameron as he did, what was that about what was he hiding from him.

Night fell over the office and the majority of the people had gone home, except for two. Cameron knocked on the door to see if anyone was inside

"Boss" he called as he pushed the door open slightly

"What is it" the blonde asked peering up from the documents on his desk to look at Cameron through his glasses

"It's about the case vincents been assigned" Cameron spoke as he took that as his sign to enter

"What about it" the blonde asked his attention flickering between cameron and the files on his desk

"It seems to involve them," Cameron said. The words seem to capture the blonde as now all his attention was on Cameron

"Does," he paused for a moment and sighed before continuing "Does,Vincent seem to know" he asked cautiously

"No"

"Good, let's keep it that way"

The next day Vincent was called into his boss's office. He approached and knocked before entering

"It's about your case" the blonde commented

"What about it?" Vincent asked.

"You seem to be having--"

"I'm not having any issues with the case" vincent interjected "who told you that"

"....Regardless, you'll be assigned a new case" the blonde replied

"Then who's getting this one" vincent asked his voice slightly elevated

"Its being moved to another division, outside of our jurisdiction" the blonde replied.

Vincent stood there for a moment. He basically just got his case and now it's getting taken, what the hell happened in the span of a couple hours for this to happen.

Vinncent was so lost in his thoughts he barely heard his boss dismiss him. As he walked down the hall back to his desk his thoughts continued to spiral, did his boss think he was incapable of doing his job, who told his boss that-. His thoughts were cut off by someone colliding with him when he looked he realized it was Cameron, that's when everything in mind clicked "it was you"

"What?" Cameron asked tilting his head in confusion

"You told the boss that...whatever you told him and now i got my case taken away from me"

"Vinni, I-" but he paused, Cameron couldn't say anything, it was true after all

"I just realized it belonged to another division that's all"

"And you didn't think to tell me" Vincent replied something akin to pain rising in his voice. Vincent waited for a reply but got nothing,so he left, what else could Cameron say.

"If i did you wouldn"t have given it up" Cameron mumbled to himself as he walked away

Vincent sighed as he leaned back in his chair glancing at the clock on the office wall, it was nearly midnight, he should have gone home already but the days events left him at a stand still, he couldn't even open the new case he was sent, with another sigh vincent grabbed his stuff and headed home.

Even though it was nearly midnight the streets were still lively so when vincent cut into the alleyway that would turn his normal ten minute walk to five that's when he realized that the person who he thought was going in the same direction, was following him, suddenly the person lunged at him as he barely managed to side step out of the way but ended up backing himself against the wall and before he knew it the person was in front of him clawing at his face as he held their wrists trying to pry them off but Vincent's hold slipped and their hand reached his neck creating a small wound, blood dripping down, this seemed to spur the person on more, as they aimed for vincent's neck again he kneed them in the stomach, kicking them away before moving from the wall but the person continued attacking him as he barely dodged but before Vincent could be harmed further a pair of red eyes appeared behind his attacker causing them to freeze, the person came from behind him and handcuffed his attacker and he recognized familiar brown hair - Cameron- what was he doing here

"Vincent?" Cameron asked just noticing him "What are you doing here"

"I should be asking you that," Vincent replied as he looked at his frozen attacker, Cameron followed Vincent's line of sight realizing that he would want answers

"that's a very long story, I promise I'll explain it to you some other time, but before that...."

Vincent looked Cameron in the eyes searching for answers as Cameron looked back at him and before Vincent knew it the edges of the world around him blurred as he started to sink and he saw something he's never seen before, Cameron's blue eyes were red

Leo

"Hey" a blue haired male addressed the other people as he pulled out a chair, turning it around before sitting at the table

"Your late" the black red haired male -Aaron- replied

"To be fair, I could be considered being early, time is subjective for us after all" leo responded as he leaned his chin against his hand

Aaron sighed "you're infuriating, you know that right"

"I try to be, it's the only reason you keep me around"

"Leo" A voice spoke up causing his attention to turn to her

"Yes, Blaire?" Leo asked tilting his head

"Well, we've all been talking" she started, looking at the other people who were barely paying attention before continuing "you should retire from the red tide"

"What." Leo asked

"Your just usel-" blaire started before Aaron cut in

"What she means is,....you've been slacking in your duties"

"And?" Leo asked

"And?,And?!, this is exactly the point, you're not doing what you need to do"

"Because you don't tell me why I'm doing it.... do I look like some mindless slave to you" Leo's voice raised as he stood up and left. Aaron leaned back in his chair sighing

'You should just get rid off him, he's useless to you now' a quiet voice in the back of his voice whispered as the silence n the room continued

"I can go talk to him" Blaire spoke standing up

"You already did that's why he left" Aaron commented not looking at her

After leo left the alterverse for some air he found himself walking through the alleys of the city, needing some of the quiet when he heard signs of a fight that he chose to ignore he didn't have time for that, he had bigger questions on his mind, why did Aaron agree with blaire, was he in the wrong, no... why was this bothering him so much, as Leo continued to walk the sounds of the fight became clearer and he realized that he walked straight there.

He immediately noticed a low tier attacking a human, and surprisingly that human was able to hold their own, which from past experiences wasn't the case. Leo continued watching until someone else appeared, someone who caused the low tier to freeze but gave off a human vibe, he watched them interact figuring out their name's, the one that was holding his own, vincent and the other, cameron, He watched as mid conversation Cameron's eyes changed color and Vincent fainted.

He thought that was it but Cameron took out his phone and called someone, after a while a black Van with a green and blue sphere with the words 'The Order' written through it, as the vehicle stopped people came out and took the low tier to the back and another spoke to Cameron about what to do with Vincent, After the end of the conversation the vehicle drove away as Cameron left, Leo took that as his sign to go, he's been out long enough.

Leo walked back to the alleyway with the rift to the alterverse and went up to the entrance, nothing happened, that was weird, he should automatically be transferred to the alterverse, what was happening, a pause then it clicked...they locked him out. How could they, leo banged on the brick wall of the alleyway where the rift should be.

What'd i do, how could you leave me, after everything we've been through, he abandoned me, why , i don't understand, if your going to leave me at least tell me the reason, please.

leo stood there in silence arms hanging at his side as he looked at the sky

"A full moon...again, i'm starting to think you hate me" Leo mumbled to himself.
