Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Nick Fury's Invitation

"That's just my small ability; I really can't help it."

Penny Parker leaned back against the chair, resigned.

"I got paid that day, and I was already two months behind on rent."

"I have to be back by nine o'clock. If I'm late, my landlord will throw out my luggage and kick me out!"

—I timed it perfectly.

—But I didn't account for two tin men fighting and coming this way!

—If I had known, I wouldn't have taken the bus; I would have just swung back with my webs…

"Penny Parker was adopted by the Parker couple at the age of three. At fourteen, her adoptive father died in a shooting, and her adoptive mother is currently on vacation in Hawaii."

Natasha once again opened the file in her hand.

"She graduated from MIT a year ago and is currently employed as a research assistant at Stark Industries."

"After graduation, she lives in apartment 5B on the fifth floor of Hall Apartments on Eighteenth Street."

"Your monthly salary is ten thousand U.S. dollars. You have no bad habits and do not buy luxury goods."

She put down the file and looked directly at Penny.

"Most of your spending is on expensive electronic materials and a large amount of groceries from the supermarket. Your grocery purchases are astonishingly high."

"May I ask if you keep any large carnivorous pets?"

Penny didn't expect her to grasp her background so quickly.

This damned U.S. has no privacy!

She spread her hands slightly: "You already know all my information."

"We even went to your apartment to investigate."

Natasha was very honest, her gaze filled with scrutiny as she looked at Penny.

She held several photos of Penny's apartment.

"Bed, refrigerator, kitchen, table and chairs, television, computer, food."

"Your room is so spartan it makes one wonder if anyone actually lives there."

Natasha stared intently at her.

Penny dared not meet her eyes: "That's for myself."

—Oh… my secret, hidden for many years…

The Red-haired Agent showed an interested expression, and she asked with a smile.

"That's truly unexpected. Are you saying you eat fifty kilograms of meat a day?"

"Yes." Penny didn't look up, allowing the Red-haired Agent to only see the top of her thick black hair.

"I have immense energy within me. To avoid exposure, I can only consume energy through eating."

"Human food, for me, is like eliminating impurities that enter my body."

At this point, Penny remembered that she didn't have much food left at home; it was almost time to buy more.

—Hey! I also made fifty kilograms of meat into barbecue and hotpot. As you can see, in the future, I can also film food-themed videos!

—Remember to save, follow, and like, so you won't miss Penny Parker's selected videos!

Natasha nodded after hearing this and asked: "By 'human food,' do you mean you're not human?"

"Of course I'm human! But I am a genetically mutated variant."

Penny wasn't sure if this World had variants.

A few years ago, when she was in high school, she was bitten by a mutated spider that was entirely White.

Afterward, Penny Parker gradually developed superpowers that were not human.

And the energy within her body grew day by day.

Finally, one day when she was eighteen, the energy seemed to go out of control due to excess.

After some terrifying incidents, she had been trying to find a solution.

For example, running a few thousand kilometers… but it didn't help much.

Later, she accidentally discovered that eating a lot would consume body energy.

So, as time accumulated.

The energy began to build up more and more.

From a normal diet, to dozens of kilograms, to hundreds of kilograms—such terrifying amounts.

This almost led Penny to bankruptcy because of eating.

Especially in the U.S., where prices are expensive.

Natasha was somewhat surprised to learn that the young girl was a variant. She asked: "What are your abilities?"

Penny's fingers twitched slightly.

Then, the documents in the Red-haired Agent's hand quickly flew to the girl's hand.

"As you can see, this is telekinesis."

"Also, highly dynamic vision, strong memory, and physical qualities beyond those of ordinary people, but I'm not entirely sure about the specific data." Penny flew the documents back to the Agent's hand.

She did not reveal all of her abilities.

"Very impressive."

Natasha took the documents and praised slightly.

A man's voice came from the miniature intercom in her ear.

Penny didn't listen closely; she just sat quietly in the chair.

She was editing the video she had just recorded.

—For Agent Natasha's privacy, I'll blur her out.

—It's a pity, viewers, that you won't be able to see this beautiful Agent!

—Please don't send me any razor blades.

—As long as you continue to follow Penny Parker's channel, I believe there will be a day when Agent Natasha's appearance will be revealed.

—But definitely not today.

Natasha then stood up, pressed a spot on the wall, and the entire room lit up.

"Someone wants to see you." She gestured with her eyes for the girl to follow.

Penny followed Natasha's footsteps.

Agent Natasha led her to the door, tilting her head slightly to indicate for Penny to go in.

The black-haired girl obediently stood in front of the door, letting the automatic door open for her.

The room was a clean and tidy office, with a black 'braised egg' sitting inside.

—Oh, I mean, a person with darker skin was sitting there.

—And that person happened to be bald, and also reflective.

"Hello Penny Parker, I am S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury." The 'braised egg' spoke.

He wore an eye patch over one eye, looking fierce.

Hearing that the other party was a Director, Penny felt a little nervous.

She cautiously glanced at him: "…Hello."

"So, do you know why I invited you?" The 'braised egg's' expression was unyielding.

—Huh?

"…" Penny Parker was silent for a moment, then, as if resigned to her fate: "No money, but I'll give my life!"

Anyway, after she died, the video she had just edited would be uploaded to the internet all over the World.

"No, no, no, perhaps…" Nick Fury paused slightly.

He looked directly at her and asked: "Do you believe in the existence of aliens?"

Unexpectedly, Penny had an 'I knew it' expression: "I knew it!"

"?" Nick's unchanging face finally showed a hint of surprise, 'You knew?'

"I knew you were going to capture me for dissection!" she exclaimed loudly.

"…." Nick was speechless for a moment, 'You knew nothing.'

"First, Miss Parker, please stop that dangerous thought."

Nick Fury covered half his face, seemingly feeling a headache.

"After the commotion you caused a few days ago, we have repeatedly investigated your information."

"Including your adoptive mother, May Parker, who is far away in Hawaii; we have already dispatched personnel to protect her."

Penny heard this and became somewhat angry, slamming the table and launching into a tirade.

"Hey, please get this straight! I didn't cause the incident!"

"It was those two tin men! It has nothing to do with Aunt May!"

"And I was just trying not to be affected! While also protecting the citizens on the bus!"

"Calm down." Nick pressed his hands down twice.

"We have no intention of harming you or your Aunt May. This is just a small investigation and necessary evaluation process before an invitation."

Penny's face was angry and puzzled: "An invitation?"

Nick Fury projected Penny's life information from childhood to the present onto the large screen in the room.
