It had been a week… and let me tell you, when I said I wanted to be from one of the lower families of the clan, I do not think G heard me correctly because for some reason, Shisui…yup, Shisui Uchiha, shisui of the body flicker and also a prodigy, he was my older brother. It was weird yet cool.
Like, when I saw him for the first time when he came to visit, I was shocked beyond comprehension…like really shocked...Oh, and you may ask why I didn't see him in the past five years
Well…he just had a very very long mission outside of the village.
But enough of that..Right now, we're at the training ground. He had promised to train with me the moment he arrived…to which I obviously agreed. I mean, who wouldn't?
"So, Y/N, just like I promised, we'll train. Let's with your throwing shuriken skills, can I see how good you are at it? I've got to know how good your eyesight is. So You can hit the targets beside me," Shisui asked calmly, gesturing toward the said targets.
He stepped aside and stood casually, hands relaxed, posture loose..That
easygoing confidence… yeah, that's just Shisui Uchiha alright.
"Got it, Aniki!" Y/N said, displaying the attitude of a child before grabbing a bunch of shuriken from his pocket and readying himself. He took a deep breath, focusing as he then threw the shuriken, each one slicing cleanly through the air and hitting bull's-eye.
Shisui seeing this, smiled slightly, with approval.
"Impressive for your age! How about trying a longer distance?" Shisui suggested, gesturing to a more far away targets. a faint grin tugging at his lips. Not mocking. Just testing.
"Got it." Y/N gathered his shuriken back, focusing before throwing them again. Though his strength clearly wasn't strong enough to make them hit correctly, the shuriken wavered slightly before striking the target, just below the bull's-eye. It was clear they would've hit perfectly if not for Y/N's lack of strength. As expected of a child's physique.
Shisui hummed softly, observing carefully.
"Nice," he said. "Your form's clean. You would've hit the target if not for your lack of strength and You're not rushing your throws, that's good. A shinobi who panics wastes motion.
Though, I guess we will be focusing on increasing your strength, taijutsu, and kenjutsu, okay? Oh, by the way, I've also heard that your chakra is low, that you can't use most jutsu. Is that right?" Shisui asked, his tone gentle, but direct. No pity, just concern.
"…Well, yeah, that's true… I just don't get why, but I'll definitely make up for it with taijutsu!" Y/N said, acting upbeat.
"Yeah, I guess so, heh. Don't worry. I'll make sure to train you well enough for that to happen." Shisui said with a soft smile on his face. The kind of smile that made you believe him instantly.
"Thanks, Aniki! 'I should get an Oscar for my acting.' " Y/N said while feeling proud inside.
"Alrighty then. Let's start training your taijutsu. When you're ready, Come at me."
Y/N got ready before rushing at Shisui, engaging in taijutsu. He arrived with a right hook aimed at Shisui's ribs. Shisui blocked effortlessly and immediately threw a punch of his own. Knowing he couldn't dodge or block it in time, Y/N moved with the direction of the punch to lessen the impact.
He hit the ground but quickly tried to sweep Shisui of his feet, only for Shisui to lightly jump away, landing smoothly.
"You know, that was a good way to lessen the damage I would've inflicted on you," Shisui complimented, his tone genuinely impressed.
"Thanks." Y/N said, getting up.
"Though your taijutsu could use work."
Shisui suddenly appeared behind him leaving an afterimage by using his signature body flicker jutsu.
"!!"
Before Y/N could spin around, he got kicked toward the ground. Before fully hitting it, he backflipped and landed on his feet, rushing at Shisui again. Shisui fended off his attacks calmly before attempting to strike Y/N's face. Y/N moved his head sideways and countered with a knee aimed at Shisui's stomach—almost landing it, if not for Shisui stepping back just in time.
"Almost got me! Alright, let's stop for now," Shisui said lightly.
"Huh? Why?" Y/N asked.
"Well, your taijutsu could use more work like I said before," Shisui began, crossing his arms casually. "You throw your whole body into a punch to maximize damage, but that leaves you completely open when I dodge. Your agility makes up for it, but it's still risky. And you need to increase your speed."
He paused briefly before continuing.
"Though your way of thinking is good. When I tried to hit you where you couldn't dodge or block, you went with the direction of my punch to lessen the impact. That's important in a real fight."
"Well, what should I do then?" Y/N asked.
"First off, only put enough of your body into a punch so you can pull back instantly if something goes wrong. And make sure you're close. The closer your opponent is when you strike, the more damage you deal—without overcommitting. Also..always expect the unexpected. Stay on guard."
"I see… then let's try again."
"Alright. Start," Shisui said.
Y/N rushed at Shisui again, engaging once more in taijutsu. This time, he made sure not to overextend his body, keeping his attacks controlled. When Shisui blocked, he felt a slight increase in impact.
"There you go! Now you're getting it," Shisui said, sounding genuinely pleased.
He slapped Y/N's punch aside and aimed for his stomach again—but this time Y/N dodged and countered with an elbow toward Shisui. It almost landed, if not for Shisui blocking and pulling Y/N in before kneeing him in the stomach.
Y/N clenched his stomach and fell to his knees. As he tried to stand, Shisui appeared in front of him and tapped his forehead with two fingers..just like Itachi does to Sasuke.
"Alright, let's stop for now. You've got to rest so we can train your strength, you know?"
"…Alright, Aniki…" Y/N said in slight relief before sitting down, Shisui already beside him.
"So, what do you excel at?" Shisui asked.
"Uh, taijutsu and shurikenjutsu."
"Hm… yeah, that matches what I saw," Shisui said before falling silent for a moment.
The breeze passed quietly between them.
"…You know… I'm really sorry for not visiting you the last five years. I've… had a lot going on," Shisui said, a rare seriousness in his voice. The usual lightness faded slightly, replaced with something heavier.
Nevertheless, Y/N was surprised at the apology.
"No… it's okay, really. I'm not mad at you or anything. I understand whatever shinobi go through."
Shisui looked at him for a second, then smiled softly again.
"…Thanks for understanding." He ruffled Y/N's hair before standing up.
"Well, come on then. We've got to work on your physical attributes."
He extended his hand.
"Mhm." Y/N grabbed Shisui's hand and pulled himself up, ready to continue training.
