Chapter 96 - Chapter 96 — The Blood Moon Origins

The ruins lay silent under the early moonlight, the containment seal humming faintly as if breathing. Shadowfang wolves patrolled the perimeter, alert yet vigilant, while Nyra and Kael examined the ancient stones, their eyes reflecting silver and gold light.

"The seal holds for now," Nyra said softly, tracing the faint runes etched into the ground. "But this forest… these ruins… they are only a fragment of the First Blood Moon's legacy. There is more we have yet to discover."

Kael's golden gaze swept the horizon. "Then we find it. Shadowfang does not wait for the enemy to strike — we go to them first."

Fenrir stepped forward, holding a crumbling scroll discovered deeper in the ruins. "This speaks of the First Guardians, beings created by the Blood Moon itself to maintain balance. They were warriors, sentinels, and enforcers, tasked with controlling the shadow forces. Over centuries, many disappeared, leaving only fragments of their power behind."

Nyra's silver eyes narrowed. "So the shadow leader we faced… it was one of these guardians or a remnant of them?"

Fenrir shook his head. "It was neither fully guardian nor fully rogue. It was corrupted — a force intended to maintain balance, but twisted over time. And the Blood Moon prophecy… it speaks of heirs, like you, whose power can awaken or subdue these forces."

Kael growled softly. "Then Shadowfang is more than a pack. We are central to this balance. If we fail, the shadows will rise beyond our forests."

Night fell, and the Blood Moon rose in full glory, bathing the ruins in ethereal silver light. Nyra's aura flared as she connected with the ancestral spirits, seeking guidance. Visions unfolded:

Ancient guardians fighting alongside early Blood Moon heirs.

Shadow forces being contained, sealed, and occasionally unleashed to test strength.

A prophecy warning of a rising darkness that would gather under the next Blood Moon cycle, stronger than any before.

Nyra gasped, seeing the scope of what was coming. "This… this is bigger than the shadow leader, bigger than our forest. Shadowfang is at the center of something far older than we imagined."

Kael placed a firm hand on her shoulder. "Then we prepare. We gather the pack, train harder, and unlock every secret the Blood Moon can offer. Shadowfang will not falter."

Fenrir's expression darkened. "There may be others — rival forces, guardians who never fell, and those corrupted like the leader. They could test you, Shadowfang, in ways you cannot yet imagine."

Nyra's silver aura blazed brighter. "Then we face them. Together. Shadowfang survives not just by power, but by unity, strategy, and courage. And we will meet whatever comes."

The Blood Moon hung full in the sky, illuminating the forest and ruins, casting long shadows over ancient stones. Somewhere in the distance, unseen eyes watched — silent, patient, and waiting. The true trials of Shadowfang were only beginning, and the forest would soon bear witness to battles older than memory itself.
