Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: The Induction Ceremony

I'm old. Even the military needs to be rejuvenated, so old guys like me have to step down," Company Commander Miao said with a smile.

Although he was smiling, Lin Mu could see the sadness and attachment to the military behind the smile.

"Alright, I should go. I'm going to miss the train. Xiao Gao, you talk to Lin Mu," Company Commander Miao said, turning to Dog Head Old Gao.

"No way, I'll see you off!" Dog Head Old Gao pulled Company Commander Miao and walked straight out of the ward... Lin Mu spent his time in the hospital eating and sleeping.

He also flirted with the nurses, so time passed quite quickly.

A week later, Lin Mu's injuries were almost fully healed.

Leaving the hospital, a military jeep was waiting for him at the entrance, taking him to the Lang Ya Base.

"Report!"

"Enter!" He Zhizun's voice came from the Captain's office.

Lin Mu opened the door and walked in, coming up to the desk, standing at attention and saluting He Zhizun.

"Reporting, Captain, Lin Mu has recovered from his injuries and returned to the team to report," Lin Mu said with a serious expression.

"Not bad. The young man has plenty of spirit, and there's a hint of killing intent about him. It's different when you've fought with real guns and knives," He Zhizun praised, looking at Lin Mu.

Lin Mu asked, slightly confused, "May I ask why the Captain called for me?"

"It's like this: I heard from Xiao Gao that you discovered early on that it was an assessment. How did you figure that out?" He Zhizun asked, looking at Lin Mu.

"Two points."

"First, those traps need improvement; they are easily discovered, and Gray Wolf's movements were also somewhat unusual."

"Second, there was an issue with the ambush location. The dense fog that night made it unsuitable for an ambush. It would have been fine if we had thermal imaging cameras, but the team didn't have any."

After hearing Lin Mu's words, He Zhizun was utterly helpless.

In fact, they hadn't expected there to be fog at the ambush location that night.

"For the second question, according to Gray Wolf's report, the sound of birds chirping that night appeared very suddenly. Do you know what was going on?"

Lin Mu was not surprised after hearing He Zhizun's second question.

In the silent mountains, a sudden burst of bird calls would raise suspicion, not just for highly alert people like Gray Wolf, but even for ordinary people.

"I figured out this bird call sound when I was in the Reconnaissance Company. It can be transmitted for one kilometer using a whistle," Lin Mu said with a smile.

"What is the use of this bird call sound?" He Zhizun asked curiously.

"It's essentially a secondary communication system, only used for transmitting information. It's usually useless, but its utility emerges at critical moments," Lin Mu said, scratching his head.

"Zhuang Yan and the others are nearby," He Zhizun suddenly said something seemingly irrelevant.

But Lin Mu understood what he meant.

Soon, several bird calls echoed out from the office.

"Zhuang Yan, Lin Mu is back. He's asking us to gather at the Captain's office." Old Cannon, who was training in the dormitory, turned his head and looked at Zhuang Yan.

"Let's go, go notify the others," Zhuang Yan said.

"Hurry up, stop reading, Ostrich. Lin Mu is asking us to gather at the Captain's place." The Medic in the study room glanced at Ostrich, who was reading.

"Squad Leader Gao, did you see that? I told you the bird calls that day appeared too suddenly. It was likely Lin Mu blowing the whistle. The confidentiality is excellent; we had no idea about this."

Inside the Wolf Fang Memorial Hall, opposite the Headquarters.

Gray Wolf watched the Rookie A Team members walk into the Headquarters and spoke to Dog Head Old Gao.

"But Lin Mu didn't leak the assessment details. As for how to handle it, that's up to the Captain. Get ready; we're about to take them here to swear their oath," Dog Head Old Gao said.

"Reporting, Rookie A Team here to report." The voices of all Rookie A Team members, except Lin Mu, sounded outside the door.

"Come in." Captain He finished speaking to Lin Mu and looked toward the door.

...

"Do you know why I called you all here?" After everyone had gathered, He Zhizun stood up and adjusted his combat uniform.

Finishing his sentence, and without waiting for their answer, he continued, "Because Lin Mu was injured, I didn't let you swear the oath with everyone else. Now that everyone is here today, you can take the oath. Follow me."

After speaking, He Zhizun led the way downstairs.

Reminded by Lin Mu, the members of the Rookie A Team quickly ran downstairs.

Wolf Fang Memorial Hall?

Lin Mu had never been to this place, nor did he even know such a place existed before.

But as soon as he walked in, a feeling of solemnity and reverence washed over him.

Looking at the military flag in front of him and the photos surrounding them, Lin Mu realized what this place was.

In the original show, Captain He had allowed Zhuang Yan to complete his transformation here, and it was here that he truly integrated into the army and into Wolf Fang.

Captain He, Squad Leader Gao, Squad Leader Mada, and all the members of the Rookie A Team formed a tiered formation, standing in front of the military flag inside the Wolf Fang Martyrs' Memorial Hall, ready to take the oath.

"Southeast Military Region, Wolf Fang Special Operations Brigade, the induction ceremony for this year's new members now begins."

"I swear."

"If necessary, I will die for my country."

"If necessary, the last bullet is for me."

As Captain He's voice rang out leading the oath, Lin Mu felt his blood start to burn for some reason.

An indescribable sense of pride and mission naturally arose in his heart.

"Reporting, Captain, the Deputy Commander of the Military Region is looking for you." A guard entered after the oath ceremony concluded.

"I understand." He Zhizun looked at the few who had completed the oath and said, "Xiao Gao will talk to you about the next steps."

With that, He Zhizun quickly walked out of the Wolf Fang Memorial Hall.

"Sit down, let's just chat casually." Dog Head Old Gao gestured for the Rookie A Team members to sit on the floor and asked, "Do you know about Special Commando Units?"

"I know," Geng Jihui was the first to answer. "A certain Foreign Legion abroad, the Second Parachute Regiment, has a mysterious Special Commando Unit outside its regular establishment. They are usually dispersed among various companies and are pulled out for independent operations during wartime."

"Everyone must sign a confidentiality agreement and cannot disclose any related information within the specified time limit."

"Mm-hmm." Dog Head Old Gao nodded. "What I want to talk to you about today is the Lone Wolf Special Commando Unit."

"A highly classified Special Commando Unit, a Shadow Force that officially doesn't exist. Its external designation is 026 Logistics Warehouse."

"You belong to the logistics branch, and you are logistics soldiers. This is done to protect you from enemy retaliation. Now you have two choices."

"First, join the Lone Wolf Special Commando Unit."

"Second, be assigned to various companies and forget everything I just said."

"I'll give you one minute to consider. Come find me when you've made up your minds."

After speaking, Dog Head Old Gao stood up and walked into the distance.

"Squad Leader Gao, what do you think they will choose?" Gray Wolf asked, looking at Dog Head Old Gao.
