Kiara's POV
I couldn't breathe.
That was the first thing.
Not fear. Not pain.
Just—No air.
Something heavy pressed down on my face. The feeling was soft. Though suffocating.
It took several minutes,maybe milliseconds, to realise it was a damn pillow shoved over my mouth and nose.
I thrashed hard.
Or at least I tried to.
My arms wouldn't move. They felt like they were made of wet sand. Useless. Heavy as hell. My legs wouldn't cooperate either. Even my efforts dragged like I was underwater.
"Get off," I tried to scream.
It came out as a pathetic wheeze.
There was a silhouette above me. Blurred. Dark. Broad shoulders. No face.
An actual person, not just a shadow.
"Get off me, you fucking asshole," I rasped inside my own head. "Get off me, or I'm gonna kill you."
The pressure increased.My chest burned. Spots danced across my vision.
And then my hearing heightened, focused. I think I heard it right.
