Chapter 4 - Page 4

"Is there something else, Miss Shari?" Iruka asked.

"The teacher has helped me a lot. I'd like to treat him to a meal," Shari said.

"Haha, it's a teacher's duty to help students. Besides, teachers still have other things to take care of…" Iruka tried to decline.

"Ichiran Ramen," Shari added calmly.

Iruka hesitated for a moment.

He really liked Ichiran Ramen, but there was no need to ask a student to treat him. After all, it wasn't expensive—he could easily afford it on a chūnin's salary.

But when he saw Shari's serious expression, he realized that Ichiran Ramen probably didn't carry any special meaning for her family. In that case, it wouldn't hurt to accept.

"Then, Mr. Iruka, let's both finish our work first. I'll head home now. I'll wait for you in front of Ichiran at six this evening," Shari said. Seeing Iruka still hesitating, she chose not to explain further. After speaking, she politely declined Iruka's offer to walk her home and left.

Iruka watched Shari's retreating figure, slightly startled. She really didn't seem like a child of her age. Thinking of her family situation, he couldn't help but sigh softly.

As expected, a child from a poor background had learned to be considerate early on. What surprised him even more was that she remembered he liked Ichiran Ramen. He had mentioned it before, but most students would have forgotten long ago.

It really made him happy.

Chapter Eight: The Three Basic Techniques

After returning home, Shari looked at the Three Basic Techniques scroll on the table, along with a chakra paper she had bought on the way back.

She picked up the chakra paper first and infused it with her chakra. Very quickly, the paper split down the middle, and the half in her hand became crumpled and wrinkled.

"Wind and Lightning?" Shari nodded after seeing the result. She wasn't particularly surprised. Her father—whom she had never met—seemed to have possessed Wind Release, while Sinai had once mentioned that her own attribute was Lightning Release.

So Shari had inherited traits from both parents. That was good news. As for bloodline limits, she had briefly considered them—but dismissed the idea almost immediately.

Trying to artificially fuse bloodline limits was basically suicide. If it were that easy, bloodline limits wouldn't be so rare in the first place.

In Shari's view, existing bloodlines were either the result of extreme experimentation or genetic mutation. As for herself—unless she had Naruto-level regeneration, Tsunade-level medical support watching her around the clock, and a body as tough as Thanos's—she wasn't about to gamble her life.

And if she had all that, why would she even need a bloodline limit? She could already do whatever she wanted.

Wind and Lightning, on the other hand, were excellent affinities. Techniques like the Rasenshuriken and Chidori were theoretically within reach. Of course, the Rasenshuriken required massive chakra reserves and Sage Mode, while Chidori demanded sufficient chakra and dynamic vision.

Otherwise, one would injure the user almost as much as the enemy, while the other would charge straight ahead and still fail to hit anything.

Sage Mode was part of her long-term plans, but there was no way she could learn it anytime soon. As for dynamic vision, it was mostly dependent on innate abilities or bloodlines like the Sharingan or Byakugan.

That said, Shari hadn't completely ruled out eye transplantation. But a Sharingan would continuously drain her chakra—completely unacceptable. The Byakugan was similar, though perhaps slightly better. Still, unless it was a Sharingan, she wouldn't even consider it.

After thinking for a while, Shari wondered if combining Sage Mode with Chidori could eliminate its drawbacks. Sage Mode enhanced all physical abilities, and might even grant dynamic vision. If she ever got the chance, it was worth experimenting with.

For now, though, it was time to learn the Three Basic Techniques.

Shari opened the scroll.

The Three Basic Techniques weren't complicated. With Iruka's notes as reference, Shari quickly read through everything.

They consisted of the Clone Technique, Transformation Technique, and Substitution Technique—simple yet extremely practical basic ninjutsu.

Transformation required only one hand seal, Clone required three, and Substitution required five. The difficulty increased with the number of seals.

Just as Shari had expected, hand seals were merely a guiding tool—meant to help shape chakra more efficiently. The true core of ninjutsu lay in chakra control and transformation.

Each technique had its own unique chakra flow. Simply memorizing hand seals without understanding the chakra change made it nearly impossible to cast a technique properly.

That led Shari to another thought: if one could fully master the chakra transformation, wouldn't it be possible to cast techniques without hand seals? Just like the late-series characters who only pressed their palms together…

As for the Three Basic Techniques, Shari planned to learn all of them—but with different priorities. She would first become proficient in Transformation, practice Clone when she had time, and focus heavily on Substitution.

It was simple, practical, and life-saving. With five hand seals, it currently took her almost two seconds to use. Against speed-type ninja, that could be fatal. She needed to reduce the casting time to under one second.

She began her first attempt.

Following the scroll's instructions, Shari controlled her chakra flow and formed the seal. An image appeared in her mind.

"Transform!"

White smoke burst forth. When it cleared, a petite yet graceful woman stood there.

Shari glanced at the mirror—and immediately blushed.

She had transformed into Tifa.

She quickly dispelled the technique, her face burning red. She hadn't expected to succeed on her very first try.

…Maybe she should practice Transformation a bit more. Yes. Definitely.

After checking that no one was around, Shari relaxed. Transformation was like that—use it a few times and you'd get familiar with it. With only one seal, there wasn't much room for simplification anyway.

Soon, different figures appeared repeatedly in her room—small in stature, but increasingly refined.

Asuna.Mikoto Misaka.A red-eyed girl…

Time flew by. By the time Sinai returned home, Shari had already learned both the Clone and Substitution Techniques.

Honestly, it felt easier than she had expected.

Unlike Transformation's single seal, Shari wasn't as skilled with Clone and Substitution yet. Her chakra transformation speed couldn't quite keep up with her hand seal speed.

But that was fine—practice would fix it.

Only now did Shari realize that her talent might far exceed her own expectations. Even though the Three Basic Techniques were simple, being able to comprehend and successfully use them on first contact was proof of exceptional talent.

"So… I really am a genius?"

"Mom, welcome home."

Hearing the door open, Shari walked out to greet Sinai in the living room.

"Ta-da!" Sinai said, pulling out a scroll with exaggerated flair. "Shari, look what this is!"

"Shadow Clone Technique," Shari replied calmly.

"…Huh? Shouldn't you be more excited?" Sinai pouted.

"I am. I'm very happy," Shari smiled.

"Here you go, my little master." Sinai handed her the scroll. "I spoke with the teacher. He also said Shadow Clone isn't suitable for you."

"Yes—but I think it suits me very well," Shari said, taking the scroll eagerly.

"I knew you wouldn't listen," Sinai sighed. "So I redeemed it anyway. Luckily, it was only Shadow Clone. If it were another B-rank technique, I probably wouldn't have been able to get it back."

"Why?" Shari asked, curious.

"The teacher said that although Shadow Clone was developed by Konoha, it leaked long ago. Other villages have similar techniques, so it's not worth strict secrecy. But other techniques are still extremely valuable and aren't taught to people who might leak them," Sinai explained.

Shari nodded. That made sense.
