Chapter 139 - Chapter 138: As everyone knows, you need to apply buffs before entering the map

The Kyoto Racecourse was bustling with noise.

The hottest weather had passed, and the temperature was beginning to cool. It was the most beautiful autumn, with the best moon.

With a turn, summer became a story; with a glance back, autumn had become the scenery.

But the Kyoto Racecourse at this time, in a season that should have been desolate, appeared exceptionally lively.

People gathered together as if in a burning furnace. The power of passion surged above the racecourse, as if the lively summer had not yet passed.

"It's so lively! It feels even more exciting than the Derby. Just staying in the spectator stands, I can't help but feel nervous!"

Special Week sat obediently in the spectator stands, her ears and tail twitching uncontrollably, revealing her owner's excitement.

"Yeah, yeah! It feels much livelier than McQueen's race last year!" Tokai Teio chimed in excitedly.

"...Must you use me as a comparison?" McQueen retorted powerlessly.

Suzuka didn't speak, quietly smoothing Special Week's fur.

Meanwhile, Vodka and Daiwa Scarlet were nervously watching the Winner's Stage below the spectator stands.

The Trainer nearby saw how the Uma Musume were behaving, smiled, and explained it to Special Week.

"Although the Kikuka Sho has always been a key G1 race that everyone pays attention to, the reason it's so lively today is because of that."

He looked up at the huge electronic screen opposite the racecourse. What was displayed on the screen at this moment was the situation on the Presentation Stage.

"The reason this race is so lively..."

Everyone from Spica looked at the big screen together.

A familiar golden color appeared on the big screen. The cheers from the audience reached the skies.

[Gate 6, the undisputed favorite, the golden Uma Musume destined to become a Legend, let us cheer her name—Gold Legend!]

Following the Commentator's introduction, the girl on the screen yawned out of boredom.

"Since Symboli Rudolf, she is the second Uma Musume to stand before the Kikuka Sho undefeated. With an undefeated momentum, she reigns over Kyoto! Can Legend continue to live up to her name? Let us wait and see!"

The bored young girl listlessly pulled the hat off her head and tossed it aside with a wave.

A breeze swept by, and her cape flared up majestically.

"Legend—Legend—" The spectator stands erupted in rhythmic cheering. At this very moment, the world was focused on one person.

And then, the center of the world yawned again.

"What is she doing?" The Trainer covered his face in agony.

"Well, well, from another perspective, Legend isn't feeling any pressure, which is a good thing," Suzuka said, offering comfort.

"Did Legend not sleep well last night? Will it affect her state for the race?" Teio asked with some concern.

"It should be fine, right? Probably?" McQueen said uncertainly.

"No, I have to go check on her!" The Trainer immediately turned and headed backstage.

"Eh? Wait for me, I'll go check too." McQueen hurriedly followed.

...

Stepping down from the Winner's Stage, Legend brushed off her clothes, then walked unhurriedly toward the entrance tunnel for the race.

"Say, Oba-chan, are you really okay?" A voice, uncharacteristically serious, rang out.

"Oh? Golshi? How rare, you're actually not off selling your yakisoba?" Legend raised an eyebrow, turning to look at Gold Ship standing at the corner of the tunnel.

"I have to give Oba-chan some face," Gold Ship patted her chest. "But what about you, Oba-chan, are you really okay?"

"It's just a lack of sleep," Legend waved her hand.

"What kind of situation could cause you, the carefree Oba-chan, to be sleep-deprived... I'm very curious." Gold Ship pinched her voice, putting on a curious expression, her large eyes sparkling with the light of thirst for knowledge.

"Even if you cosplay Chitanda, I'm not Oreki, although I really am in energy-saving mode right now," Legend complained, half-squinting. "As for the lack of sleep, it's nothing, I just dreamt last night that Jay Chou released a new album, but I didn't get to hear it."

Then I suffered from insomnia.

Mentioning last night's events, the air pressure around Legend dropped another notch.

"That's it?" Gold Ship's expression changed in a second, putting on a look of pure scum. "I thought it was something like a breakup."

"Unfortunately, my love life is very stable." Legend waved her hand with disdain. "Alright, I'm heading up."

"What a pity, I was going to say if you wanted it, Oba-chan, I'd give you this album I have in my hand." Gold Ship pulled out an exquisite album.

"...I won't even ask how you managed that." Legend's eyes widened for a split second, then narrowed again. "What do you want?"

"This is the final leg of your Triple Crown, Oba-chan, how can we not have some drama! How does that saying go? Boring, I want to see a bloodbath!" Gold Ship smiled wickedly.

"Should I say that's just like you?" Legend scratched her head. "I understand, I'll give it a try, to make this race a bit more interesting."

As it happens, I'll try a massive chase.

Legend loosened up her body, her joints popping and cracking.

"I'm getting a little excited now." Legend turned and walked toward the exit of the tunnel.

Gold Ship saw it clearly; as Legend turned, a very dangerous arc spread across her lips.

"...Did I go too far?"

Hope the horses are okay.

Gold Ship silently prayed for the participating Uma Musume.

"Gold Ship, what did you do?" The Trainer and McQueen, who had been hiding to the side, emerged from the corner. McQueen asked curiously.

"Stimulated Oba-chan's desire a bit?" Gold Ship replied uncertainly.

"Desire? Is it this album in your hand? What kind of album could make Legend get excited?" McQueen and the Trainer looked curiously at the album in Gold Ship's hand; the title on the cover read "Greatest Works of Art".

"This? This isn't it? This is just bait." Gold Ship opened the album. "Inside is actually a collection of Oba-chan's Winner's Stages since her debut."

"Eh? Legend really wants a collection of her own Winner's Stages?" McQueen seemed to have misunderstood something.

"No, it's just utilizing Oba-chan's obsession." Gold Ship held up two fingers to indicate a tiny distance.

"...I have a feeling you're going to be beaten up by Legend afterward."

Could Gold Ship have tricked her using something Legend really cared about? The sharp Trainer sensed something.

"No way, that's my Oba-chan, my actual family!"

At most, she'll just beat me half to death. Gold Ship confidently patted her chest.

"Alright, alright, let's go up and watch the race. I have a premonition that Oba-chan will definitely bring an absolutely intense race now!" Saying this, Gold Ship dragged McQueen and the Trainer out of the tunnel.
