Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 – The Awakening Truth

Darkness returned.

But this time…

It was different.

Not empty.

Not silent.

It was alive.

Leo drifted within it, his consciousness slowly forming again.

No pain.

No weight.

Just awareness.

And then—

A pulse.

Deep.

Ancient.

Familiar.

"…You are back."

The voice echoed through everything.

Leo didn't open his eyes.

"…I never left."

A faint ripple moved through the darkness.

"…Your body disagrees."

Leo's thoughts sharpened.

Fragments of memory returned.

The watchers.

The battle.

The overwhelming power.

And the collapse.

"…Did I win?"

A pause.

Then—

"…You survived."

Leo let out a quiet breath.

"…Good enough."

The darkness shifted slightly.

"…You are approaching the threshold."

"…But you still do not understand."

Leo finally opened his eyes.

There was nothing to see.

Yet everything was visible.

"…Then explain it."

Silence followed.

Then—

The void cracked.

Not physically.

But conceptually.

Images formed around him.

Not illusions.

Memories.

Truth.

A war beyond existence.

Countless beings.

Gods.

Entities beyond gods.

All fighting.

All collapsing.

At the center—

A single presence.

Bound.

Sealed.

Restrained by chains that stretched across realities.

Leo's eyes narrowed.

"…That's you."

"…What remains of me."

The voice responded calmly.

"…The Ancient One."

The chains tightened around that presence.

Endless layers of sealing power.

Dimensions wrapped over dimensions.

Time locked.

Space frozen.

"…Why were you sealed?"

A pause.

Longer this time.

Then—

"…Because I could not be controlled."

The void trembled slightly.

"…And because they feared what comes after me."

Leo frowned.

"…After you?"

"…Evolution."

The word echoed deeply.

"…Not of strength."

"…But of existence itself."

Images shifted again.

Other beings appeared.

Ancient.

Powerful.

Watching from afar.

The same kind of presence as the watchers—

But far greater.

"…They call themselves the keepers."

"…The balance of all realities."

Leo's expression darkened slightly.

"…The ones sending hunters."

"…Yes."

Silence followed.

"…And now… they are watching you."

The void grew heavier.

"…Because you carry what they sealed."

Leo clenched his fist slightly.

"…Then they'll come again."

"…They already are."

The darkness pulsed again.

This time stronger.

"…But that is not the problem."

Leo's gaze sharpened.

"…Then what is?"

The voice lowered.

Heavier than before.

"…You."

Silence.

"…What do you mean?"

"…Your body…"

"…Your mind…"

"…Your existence…"

A pause.

"…Cannot contain what you are becoming."

Leo's expression didn't change.

"…Then I'll adapt."

For the first time—

The voice hesitated.

Then—

"…That is the correct answer."

The void shifted again.

But this time—

Not showing the past.

Showing something else.

A possibility.

Leo standing alone.

Not as he was now.

But different.

Calm.

Unreachable.

Untouchable.

Everything around him—

Reality.

Time.

Space—

All bending naturally.

Not forced.

Not controlled.

Just… existing under him.

"…That is what lies ahead."

Leo stared at the vision.

"…That's me?"

"…If you survive."

The image shattered.

Darkness returned.

"…There is something else you must understand."

Leo focused.

"…What?"

The voice grew quiet.

Almost distant.

"…You are not the only one."

A ripple spread through the void.

Other presences.

Faint.

Far away.

But real.

"…Others carry fragments."

"…Others are awakening."

Leo's eyes narrowed.

"…Enemies?"

"…Possibly."

"…Possibly not."

A pause.

"…But they will come."

The weight of those words settled deeply.

Not just a warning.

A certainty.

Leo exhaled slowly.

"…Good."

Silence.

"…You do not fear it."

"…No."

A faint shift.

"…Why?"

Leo's voice was calm.

Steady.

"…Because I'll surpass them too."

For the first time—

The darkness responded differently.

Not just acceptance.

But something close to… approval.

"…Then your path is set."

Light began to form again.

Reality calling him back.

"…Wake up."

The void began to collapse.

"…Grow stronger."

"…Faster."

"…Before they reach you."

Everything shattered into light.

Leo's eyes opened suddenly.

A sharp breath escaped him.

The ceiling came into view again.

The infirmary.

Same room.

Same place.

But different.

Luna was there.

Closer than before.

Watching him.

"…You're awake."

Her voice was soft.

Relieved.

Leo sat up slowly.

His body still weak.

But stable.

"…How long?"

"…Two days."

Kai's voice came from the side,

"BRO STOP DYING EVERY WEEK."

Ryu sighed,

"…At this point, I'm getting used to it."

Milan adjusted his glasses,

"…You should not be alive."

Leo almost smirked.

"…I hear that a lot."

But his eyes—

Were different.

Deeper.

More aware.

Luna noticed immediately.

"…What did you see?"

Silence filled the room.

Leo looked at his hand.

For a moment—

The space around it bent slightly.

Then returned.

Controlled.

"…The truth."

A pause.

"…And it's worse than we thought."

Kai frowned,

"…That's not reassuring."

Leo looked toward the window.

At the sky.

Calm.

Still.

"…There are more."

The room went silent.

"…More like that thing?" Ryu asked.

Leo shook his head slightly.

"…No."

A pause.

"…Stronger."

No one spoke.

Because they understood.

The danger hadn't passed.

It had only grown.

Leo clenched his hand slowly.

The air tightened for a brief second—

Then stabilized.

"…Next time…"

His voice was low.

Certain.

"…I'll be ready."

Far beyond the world—

Beyond the void—

Something stirred.

Multiple presences awakened.

Watching.

Waiting.

Smiling.

The game had expanded.

And Leo…

Had just become its center.
