Chapter 25 - Consequences of an Abomination
Ismena yanked her fingers out of her with a jolt, as her gaze snapped to Haron.
He was by the door, looking at her.
Her heart skipped when she saw the flash of rage in his eyes.
He must have been at the door for a while — witnessed her frantic madness.
Her stomach dipped with dread.
This….
This was not a dream.
"I—I— forgive me," she begged in a trembling whisper.
His frown only deepened, his shoulders stiff, as he walked into the bath chamber, the soft thud of his boots echoing through the space.
Ismena went still in the water, her pulse quickening with the fearful expectation. She looked away from him because she was too afraid to carry the weight of his gaze.
He drew closer and her hands tightened into fists with every step.
This was her fault.
She had crossed a line.
Crossed the line.
Then she felt him stopped right by the stone basin. His scent engulfed her.
