Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Can't Git High Anymore...

James returned to a quiet home in the middle class suburbs of West Vista Valley City. Normally, he would be enjoying the house all to himself, but the pent up anger he accumulated during the reckless driving through the city needed to be taken out on someone or something. He wanted to yell at someone, tell them how unfair and stupid it was that after all his years of loyalty, they just boot him out on his ass and strip him of his honorable history. All for refusing to kill innocent people. But there was no one around to yell at or vent to other than himself.

His three hundred pound punching bag in the backyard patio took an awful beating as some heavy metal blared through his stereo. The bag was already beat to shit from months of bag work, but today, James went harder than he's ever went on that bag. His final round on the poor bag went so hard that a hole ripped at the bottom of it, spilling all of its sandy contents and ending that workout.

Without a second thought about it, James continued his workout, moving on to muay thai push-ups, knuckle push-ups, monkey scratch curls, and then finally on to the bench where he pressed seventy percent of his max in seven sets of ten. Once he was finished with his home workout, it was time to end it with a seven mile run through the state park and back. He felt like a machine during that run, not once stopping to catch his breath nor did he slow his pace. When he got back home, he collapsed on his front lawn and stared up at the sky while he caught his breath. The sky was a blend of oranges and reds as the sun went down. He did feel a bit better, almost as if he sweated out most of his anger. But there was still an urge to do something. Something that gave him a thrill like no other, a high that filled him with adrenaline more addictive than nicotine. As he stared up at the sky and watched an airplane pass over his head, he was reminded of that high that he may never get again. However, there was certainly an alternative. A high he never tried but would love to see if it could get him as high as he used to get while soaring through the sky at mach 7 and breaking the sound barrier seven times over.

That high was known to be found on Camelot Boulevard.
