No sooner said than done! Lynn immediately rolled up his sleeves and stood before his seemingly ordinary trunk.
Fortunately, while he was hanging around the Restricted Section earlier, he had already managed to "Engrave" the Undetectable Extension Charm, a Spell strictly regulated by the Ministry of Magic.
"The Restricted Section really is a good place," Lynn thought smugly to himself as he waved his wand. "You can even find 'contraband' Spells like this here."
Lynn began to cast magic on the trunk.
One complex Spell after another sank into the surface of the trunk along with his incantations.
Lynn didn't just want to expand the internal space further; he also wanted to adjust the spatial structure, shape the terrain, stabilize light sources, and even try to introduce a simple elemental cycle.
"Expand... stabilize... terrain shaping... constant light and shadow..."
Lynn muttered under his breath, the light at the tip of his wand flickering as subtle ripples appeared in the space around the trunk.
Edgar, William, and Ollie, who were watching Levi drink the nutrient solution nearby, kept glancing over, their faces full of question marks as they watched Lynn go "mad" over a box.
"Lynn, what are you doing mumbling and poking at that box?"
Edgar finally couldn't help himself and leaned over curiously to ask.
"Oh, it's nothing," Lynn said without looking up, continuing his "construction."
"I'm just using the Undetectable Extension Charm to build a home for Levi inside the trunk. If the space is larger, he'll live more comfortably."
"The Undetectable Extension Charm?!"
When William heard the words, his eyes went wide behind his glasses.
"You used the Undetectable Extension Charm?! Do you have permission from the Ministry of Magic? That's a strictly regulated Spell!"
Lynn finally stopped his movements and shrugged nonchalantly. "Oh, it's not a violation if you don't get caught... What, are you guys going to report me to the Ministry?"
"Of course not!" the three said in unison. Although William had a "this is a serious violation" look on his face, he also shook his head firmly.
"Then that's that!"
Lynn grinned and continued his project.
He suddenly remembered something and said to Levi, who was taking small sips of the nutrient solution:
"Levi, do me a favor. Go to the Owlery and call Old White over. He's a Snowy Owl, and his speech has a bit of a... well, a strong accent. You'll know it when you hear it."
"Okay, Master~" Levi replied obediently, spreading his still youthful but already somewhat mystical wings.
The space around him distorted slightly, rippling like water. In the next moment, he vanished into thin air, leaving behind only a few wisps of slowly dissipating gold-red light particles.
"Whoa!" Edgar marveled. "He just... teleported away?"
It was clear that Levi wasn't very practiced yet, as there were some spatial ripples.
Lynn nodded with satisfaction and then extended an invitation to his three roommates:
"The inside of the trunk is basically ready. Do you want to go in and take a look? Just a warning—what I've made is pretty big, so stay steady and don't scream."
"Yes!" the three said in unison again, their curiosity completely piqued.
As Lynn opened the lid and gestured for them to enter, Edgar, William, and Ollie climbed into the trunk one by one.
"Whoa—!!!"
As soon as they entered, the three couldn't help but let out the expected gasps of amazement.
What met their eyes wasn't some cluttered storage space, but an extremely vast grassland!
The ceiling was no longer the inside of the lid, but a simulated "sky" emitting a soft glow. Although there were no real clouds or sun yet, the light was ample and even.
The air was fresh, carrying the scent of green grass and soil, and it didn't feel stuffy at all.
"Merlin! This... this area! This grassland!"
Edgar spun around in place excitedly. "Just how big is this place?"
Lynn jumped in after them and introduced it with considerable pride:
"Not big, not big. It's just about the size of a standard football field."
Indeed, compared to Newt Scamander's super suitcase that could hold snowy mountains and rainforests, Lynn's could only be considered a "shell house."
But as a starting point, it was already staggering.
Lynn planned in his heart: in the future, he would plant a tall sycamore tree right in the center as Levi's residence.
As for himself, he didn't have high requirements—building a comfortable small villa nearby would be fine. It would be nice to come in for a vacation occasionally.
Perhaps he could raise a few more magical creatures...
Just as the group came out of the trunk and found their footing, Lynn heard the flapping of wings outside the window and a familiar loud voice:
"Oh my goodness~ Big brother, you had that fancy little bird drag me over here in such a hurry. What's up?"
Old White hollered outside the window in his signature accent.
This individualistic Snowy Owl had never properly called him "Master" since the day Lynn bought him. At first, he called him "Biped," and now he could manage a "Big Brother," which Lynn felt was a huge step forward in their relationship.
Lynn could only comfort himself this way.
"Old White, wait a second, stop shouting first."
Lynn pushed open the window and let Old White fly in to land on the back of a chair. "I'm writing a letter. Help me deliver it to Hogsmeade, to 'Magical Building Materials and Rare Woods Shop.' Yes, that one."
Lynn quickly spread out a piece of parchment and began to write.
He needed to purchase a batch of treated, sturdy wood and stone for building the small house. Most importantly, he needed to find a suitable sycamore sapling or seed; that would be Levi's future home.
A moment later, the letter was finished and tied to Old White's thick leg along with a small bag of Galleons.
This was one of the few remaining bits of Lynn's savings.
"Go and come back quickly, Old White. Don't play around on the way, and don't pick fights with other owls!" Lynn urged.
"I know, I know. Nagging like my mother!"
Old White grumbled a complaint, spread his wings, and whooshed out the window.
Having finished the initial modification of the trunk and settling Levi, a sense of idle emptiness washed over Lynn.
He looked around the dormitory. William was devouring a book, Edgar was polishing that "Cleansweep" super broom—though he couldn't use it openly at school, he was happy just looking at it—and Ollie was quietly writing a letter home.
"Sigh, I'm so bored..." Lynn stretched, feeling restless all over.
Fishing? He didn't want to face the "malice" of the Black Lake for now.
Alchemy? He didn't have many coins left in his pocket.
Going for a "stroll" in the Forbidden Forest? Too lazy.
Suddenly, he had a flash of inspiration—right! His vegetable patch! The strawberries he planted!
Since the "free labor" from Ravenclaw helped clear the land and he planted the strawberries, he had hardly looked after them, entrusting them entirely to his helpful neighbor Hagrid to watch over.
He wondered how they were growing.
Thinking of this, Lynn immediately perked up. He strolled out of the Castle and headed toward his "experimental field" adjacent to Hagrid's pumpkin patch.
"These... these are my strawberries?!"
Lynn rubbed his eyes, wondering if he had been hit by a Confundo.
On that patch of land that had originally only been loosened, strawberry seedlings were arranged neatly, each one looking exceptionally robust.
Most of the plants had already sprouted several distinct true leaves from their centers.
Lynn remembered clearly that this variety of strawberry takes at least five to ten weeks to grow true leaves from seed germination.
And it had been less than four weeks since he planted these strawberries, at most!
"The 'Abundance' talent... truly does not deceive me!"
Lynn knelt down, carefully touching a tender green leaf, unable to stop himself from muttering.
This growth rate—how was it only shortened by half?
It was practically riding a high-speed train!
According to Lynn's original conception, he should have been able to harvest by the end of the term.
Going by this trend, forget waiting until the end of the term—he might be able to harvest the first batch of big, sweet strawberries by Christmas!
