Chapter 2 - Episode 2: The Ten-Month Debug Log

[SCENE START]

EXT. DAGOBA MUNICIPAL BEACH PARK – DAWN – TEN MONTHS BEFORE ENTRANCE EXAMS

The rising sun paints the sky in hues of orange and purple over a graveyard of household junk, towering appliances, and rusted cars. In one corner, a skeletal TOSHINORI YAGI (in his true form) oversees a scrawny, determined IZUKU MIDORIYA as he begins the Herculean task of clearing the beach.

In the other corner, separated by a small mountain of refrigerators, is ARATA TATSUONO. His training is different. His "Dagobah" isn't trash to move, but a single, massive slab of concrete—a broken sea wall—to overcome.

TOSHINORI (TO ARATA)

Young Tatsuono! Your foundation is unstable because your body is not a worthy server for your Quirk's "data"! You must build the hardware to match the software! Now... PUSH!

Arata strains against the concrete slab, his arms partially transformed. Stony, grey scales patch his skin in uneven clusters. His arms are bulky Wyvern limbs, but his back is human, and his left leg flickers between flesh and scale. The slab barely moves.

ARATA

(Through gritted teeth)

It's... not... connecting! The transformation protocol keeps timing out!

IZUKU

(Pausing, wiping sweat)

Arata-kun! Last week, your right side stabilized at 78%! Maybe... maybe focus the "system call" from your core, not your limbs?

Arata grunts, taking the advice. He closes his eyes, breathing deeply. The scales on his arms solidify further, but a painful spark of energy shoots up his spine, causing him to falter. The slab settles back with a thud.

He looks at his flickering hands, frustration boiling over. He slams a stony fist into the sand.

ARATA

Error. Failure. Incompatible. It's all just... corrupted code.

---

MONTAGE SEQUENCE – TRAINING PROGRESS

The seasons change. Izuku's pile of trash shrinks. Arata's battle with the slab—and himself—rages on.

· SCENE A: Arata, muscles screaming, manages to lift the slab an inch, holding a full Wyvern-arm transformation for a full minute before collapsing.

· SCENE B: Izuku, during a break, shows Arata his hero analysis notebook. He's drawn schematics of Arata's Quirk, with notes like "Earth Arcanum = Base Framework. Requires Structural Reinforcement."

· SCENE C: A rainy day. Arata attempts to transform while balancing on a slick, unstable log in the surf—Toshinori's idea to train stability under stress. He falls repeatedly, but each time, the scale-patterns on his skin spread a little farther.

· SCENE D: Izuku and Arata spar (at Toshinori's instruction). Izuku, learning to predict movements, dodges Arata's heavy but slow claw swipes. "Your form is powerful, Arata-kun, but it's all brute force! There's no... algorithm to your attack!"

---

EXT. DAGOBA BEACH – ONE MONTH BEFORE EXAMS – SUNSET

The beach is clean. Izuku stands proudly before a crying Toshinori, having completed his task.

Arata stands before his slab. It is now covered in deep gouges and cracks from ten months of impact. His body is transformed, but it's a unstable, patchwork horror of a Wyvern: one arm fully scaled, the other half-human, one leg bulky, the other flickering. He is panting, covered in sweat and dust.

ARATA

(Screaming to the sky)

I've built the hardware! I've run every diagnostic! WHY WON'T THE SYSTEM BOOT?!

He charges the slab one last time, not to lift it, but to strike it with everything he has. He rears back his fully-transformed fist.

ARATA

DRACONIS... FUNDAMENTO!

He throws the punch. At the moment of impact, a circuit of bronze light flashes along the scale-patterns on his back—a pathway lighting up. The transformation doesn't just hold—it SURGES.

In a flash of earthy light, the patchwork horror is gone. In its place stands a complete, unified form.

THE WYVERN.

He is 8 feet tall, covered in interlocking plates of dull, rock-like scales. His legs are thick and digitigrade, ending in crushing talons. A powerful, muscular tail sways for balance. His arms are fully draconic, ending in three-fingered claws capable of crushing steel. A crown of rocky horns ridges his brow. His eyes glow with a steady, bronze light.

The punch connects. Not with a crack, but with a deep, tectonic BOOM. The concrete slab—the symbol of his ten-month struggle—shatters into a thousand pieces.

Silence, save for the crashing waves. The transformation holds for five seconds... ten... Izuku and Toshinori watch, awestruck.

Then, with a gasp, the form dissolves in a shower of dissipating bronze light. Arata collapses to his knees in his human form, utterly spent, but his eyes are wide with revelation.

He looks at his hands. They are human, but the faint scale patterns are now permanently visible, like etched circuits. They glow softly and fade.

ARATA

(Whispering)

Boot sequence... complete. Stage One: Online.

Toshinori approaches, a wide smile on his skeletal face. He puts a hand on Arata's shoulder.

TOSHINORI

You didn't just unlock a form, young man. You debugged your soul. You are no longer a user of a power you don't understand. You have become its system administrator.

Izuku runs over, beaming.

IZUKU

You did it, Arata-kun! The foundation is stable! Your "Earth Arcanum" is mastered!

Arata looks from Izuku to Toshinori, then out at the sunset over the now-clean ocean. For the first time, the frustration is gone, replaced by a calm, steely resolve.

ARATA

The foundation is stable. But a foundation's purpose... is to build upon.

(He stands, new strength in his voice)

The entrance exam is the first compile test. Let's see if our code holds.

[FINAL SCENE]

EXT. CITY ROOFTOP – NIGHT – ONE WEEK BEFORE EXAMS

Arata stands at the edge, looking at the city lights. He holds out his hand. A perfect, stony Wyvern claw forms instantly and without strain.

He looks up at the full moon and the clear sky. He takes a deep breath, not of earth, but of the high, thin air. A new instinct tingles at the edge of his consciousness—a sensation of currents, of updrafts, of a different kind of power. A single scale on his cheek subtly shifts from stone-grey to a faint, silvery sheen before returning to normal.

The Sky Arcanum is not yet accessible. But its file is no longer corrupted. It's now... queued for installation.

ARATA (V.O.)

System Report: Ten-Month Debugging Cycle complete. Core Stability achieved at 98.7%. Preparing for Alpha Test: U.A. Entrance Exam.

Error logs cleared. Memory allocated.

Ready for the next update.

[SCENE END]

STATUS REPORT: ARATA "CODEX" TATSUONO - 1 WEEK TO UA ENTRANCE EXAM

· Quirk: Draconis Fundamento

· Current Stage: Stage 1 (Earth - Wyvern) - MASTERED

· Form Stability: 98.7%. Full transformation achievable for up to 15 minutes under moderate stress.

· Key Abilities:

· Adamantine Claws & Tail: Can shred metal and shatter concrete.

· Geo-Armor: Rock-like scales provide high-impact resistance.

· Enhanced Density: Can momentarily increase mass for devastating blows or root himself.

· Primary Weakness: High stamina drain. Sustained combat is limited. Elemental attacks (extreme heat/cold) can bypass armor.

· Next Stage Potential (Sky - Eastern Dragon): Detected. Signal is weak but clear. Requires a breakthrough in mindset, not just muscle.

· Exam Strategy: Designated "Breaker & Anchor." Use Wyvern's raw power to disable high-point robots and create safe zones for other examinees. Rescue points are a viable secondary objective.
