Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 Battle God System

Alexander's eyes slowly opened, the sunset cast a golden glow in his home. He saw Kayla standing there cooking some food. "So it wasn't a dream." he thought to himself. His eyes traced her body, her long legs, her slender frame, and bow that he was feeling better he noticed how fragile she looked. It was if she hadn't eaten or slept in several days.

Kayla turned around and saw Alex looking at her with tears in her eyes she rushed twords him and gave him a hug.

"Uhhhh what's this for?" Alex asked.

"You've been asleep for 3 whole days I was worried you might never wake up." Kayla held him closer squeezing him tightly.

"Im all good so can you let go of me now."

"Oh yea of course." She released him from her hug stood up and brushed off he outfit. "Are you hungry? I decided to try cooking some food to see if that would wake you up."

"yea I can eat"

*DING* A bright blue transparent screen appeared in front of Alex's eyes. It read "Downloading the Battle God System 0%."

"Huh, hey kayla can you see this?"

"See what?" She looks at him all confused.

"Uhm nevermind then." Alex then pondered about what this ment, what was going to happen when this system finished downloading. Then the number changed from zero to ten. A surge of energy filled him, he felt as if he had grown stronger. Curious to test it out he decided to step outside while Kayla finished cooking. He grabbed his axe that was leaning against the cottage and headed out into the woods. Once he felt he was a good distance away Alex picked out the perfect tree, it was an old tree with a thick trunk. the tree was previously struck by lightning so it was dead. He thought to himself "this would make some good firewood." He took his shirt off and prepared to swing his axe when he realized that his body had changed as well his somewhat soft squishy stomach now had very defined abs. his biceps looked somewhat bigger with prominent veins showing beneath his skin. He swung his axe with all his might. The axe didnt stop as it traveled through the tree, makeing him question if he even hit the tree at all. To his surprise the old tree with the thick trunk started to fall twords him. Alex then turned and ran as fast as he could to get away much to his surprise he was able to run much faster easily escaping the falling tree. Not by inches or by feet but by about 300 yards. He sat down shocked and in awe of what his new body was capable of. He ran back over to the tree in an instant and started to chop it up for some firewood.

Back at the cottage Kayla worked diligently on dinner, she was slightly worried about how Alex was feeling but he seemed to be walking better. She didnt notice a limp when he left to get firewood. Her mind raced as she stirred the stew which was nearing its finish. How could someone who was on deaths door just 3 days ago wake up and feel good enough to get firewood. It didnt make sense to her. she was curious on what kind of person he was. She added the finishing touch to the stew and now it was complete she dished out a single bowl for him. Food was scarce these days. She felt as if the food he worked so hard to get shouldn't be wasted on her. A person who was told how worthless she was every single day of her life. A person who felt as if they didnt have a reason to live.

Alex walked back into the cottage carrying a large load of firewood. "I'm back." he exclaimed.

"Foods ready." Kayla set the bowl down on the table along with a spoon for him to eat.

"Where's your bowl at?"

"Oh uhm im not hungry I dont need to eat."

"Too bad as long as your here your going to have to eat with me. Food tastes better with good company." Alexander casually commented.

"Oh uhm... ... of course." Tears started to well in her eyes. this is the first time anybody has ever wanted to eat with her. Or even called her good company. It felt nice to hear albeit it was from a complete stranger she had only known for a few days.

Alexander noticed the tears he didnt make a comment or press her about why she was crying as she dished her self up. When she sat her bowl onto the table, he got up and gave her a hug not a tight constricted hug. But a gentle one full of warmth, as if assuring her things will be different here. There was nothing to worry about. Kayla cried into his shoulder gripping him tightly worried that this moment of warmth might disappear forever.

"Food also tastes better hot, let's eat." Alexander said in a gentle tone of voice.

Kayla nodded and thus they enjoyed their first of many meals together.
