Lina straightened abruptly. Her first thought was that she must have misheard something. Her bedroom was on the top floor, more than ten meters above the ground. Who could possibly be knocking on a window at such a height?
Then came several more knocks, louder and clearer than before, shattering the silence of the night.
This time, Lina could no longer convince herself that she was imagining things. She stared at the curtains covering the window, and a chill crept down her spine. The last time someone had approached her unexpectedly, it had nearly cost her life. After everything she had experienced since arriving in this world, she had learned never to dismiss something strange simply because it seemed impossible.
Perhaps because she remained silent for too long, the knocking resumed. A quiet voice followed, barely audible through the glass.
"Princess? Your Highness, are you there?"
