Chapter 43 - Liu Zhengkun

Jessica Harper couldn't wait to uncover the true face of this mysterious Chairman Sterling.

Jeff had instructed Rachel Brooks not to tell anyone about him. How could Rachel Brooks disobey the chairman's orders for a few dollars?

Rachel Brooks quickly pushed the money back to Jessica and said, "Ms. Harper, I don't have a photo of Chairman Sterling either, but I can tell you that Chairman Sterling is very handsome and about your age."

Upon hearing Rachel Brooks say "very handsome," Jessica felt a surge of joy, almost to the point of intoxication.

Although she had been rejected again when it came to negotiating the contract, this fierce but brainless silly girl left happily once more.

...

Manchester, Thailand.

Brother Gage arrived here by plane and found his elder brother, Master Liu.

In recent years, Master Liu had been traveling to Southeast Asia, where he had done some underground business and recruited a lot of thugs.

In a small gymnasium where an underground boxing match was being held, under the dim lights, Master Liu was drinking and cheering on his fighters.

"Master Liu." Brother Gage approached Master Liu's booth and greeted him respectfully.

Master Liu ignored Brother Gage until the boxing match was over, then happily looked at him.

"Brother Gage, how did you end up all the way from Riverforge? Did something happen to you?"

Brother Gage nodded, and seeing that Master Liu had taken a sip of wine, he quickly picked up the bottle and refilled Master Liu's glass.

"Master Liu is incredibly insightful. I am indeed in some trouble in Riverforge and would like to seek your help."

Master Liu took out a cigar, smelled it, and said, "With the crackdown these past two years, your shops have probably been shut down quite a bit. I estimate you have less than a hundred men left, right?"

Brother Gage had been trained by Master Liu, so he naturally knew that Brother Gage used to have hundreds of men under his command.

Brother Gage continued to nod. "Master Liu is a brilliant strategist. I only had ten men left, and today a brat named Jeff crippled them all."

Just as Master Liu was about to cut the cigar with a smile, he heard this and angrily smashed the cigar tongs directly onto Brother Gage's head!

"You damn bastard! I thought there would be at least seventy or eighty left out of less than a hundred, but you only have ten left! And they're all crippled? When I left Riverforge, I left you with hundreds of underlings, and you didn't leave me with a single one!"

Not satisfied with smashing it, Master Liu slapped Brother Gage hard on the head.

Brother Gage dared not dodge, enduring Master Liu's beatings and scoldings.

After Master Liu calmed down, he picked up the cigar tongs, cut off the cap of his cigar, and said:

"It's not just stores that are being closed. These days, it's hard to do any business. Plus, delivering food, driving for rideshares, or doing social media are all very lucrative. All these people have switched careers. Ten of them would be considered a good number."

Master Liu lit a cigar and nodded. "I knew it long ago. Times have changed. It's no longer the era when I was young, where you could rise to prominence by fighting and killing."

"These thugs nowadays are all useless. Not a single one of them can fight. It's not surprising that your ten men were all crippled."

"I could pick anyone here and take on ten of your men without a problem. Do you know why?"

Brother Gage humbly asked for advice. "Please enlighten me, Master Liu."

Master Liu said, "Because I am too rich now. How can we survive if we're rich? Only poverty can unleash our greatest fighting power!"

"We are a group living on the dark side; there is no space for us to survive in the sunlight. So, two years ago, I left Riverforge and shifted my focus to these poor places in Southeast Asia."

"I already have over two thousand men here, and each one of them can take on ten men!"

Brother Gage was full of admiration for Master Liu. "If I had half the brains of Master Liu, I wouldn't be in this sorry state today. Please, Master Liu, let me lead a hundred men to kill him and avenge my brothers!"

Master Liu glanced coldly at Brother Gage. "I'm an orphan just like you, and I don't even know as many words as you. The reason I have the ideas and achievements I have today is all thanks to Master Fang's cultivation."

Brother Gage had often heard Master Liu mention the name Master Fang before, but he had never had the chance to meet him.

"Speaking of Master Fang, it's been a long time since I paid my respects to him."

It was clear that Master Liu truly respected Master Fang. As soon as his name was mentioned, he quickly put down his cigar, picked up the phone, and dialed the number.

"Master Fang, I hope I didn't disturb your rest?" Master Liu asked respectfully.

Brother Gage watched from the side, also wanting to hear what the boss's boss's voice sounded like.

Master Liu said, "Well, I'm planning to go back to Riverforge in the next couple of days to take care of some things. It's been a long time since I've visited you, so I prepared some gifts. I was wondering if you're in the US?"

"What? You're in Riverforge? That's wonderful! I'll book a flight right away, Master Fang, I'll come see you right away!"

After hanging up the phone, Master Liu laughed happily. "I didn't expect Master Fang to be in Riverforge right now!"

Brother Gage was also very excited. "Really? I've heard you mention Master Fang's name many times over the past few years, but I've never had the chance to meet him. This time, you must introduce me to him!"

Snap!

Master Liu slapped him across the face. "What kind of noble status does Master Fang have? How dare you, a good-for-nothing, not meet him? I have to make an appointment in advance to see Master Fang! Book a plane ticket immediately, I'm going to visit Master Fang, and while I'm at it, I'll take care of that kid you mentioned named Jeff."

Brother Gage: "Yes, Master Liu!"

...

That evening, Jessica returned home and told her parents what had happened that afternoon.

Michael laughed and said, "Chairman Sterling actually said that he can't talk about work properly while staring at you. Jessica, it seems that Chairman Sterling is really infatuated with you."

Jessica, wearing a face mask, lay on the sofa and said smugly, "Of course."

Michael thought for a moment and then said, "Since Chairman Sterling wants to change the person again, Brandon, you should go see Chairman Sterling tomorrow."

Brandon was texting Brother Gage. He had just received a message from Brother Gage saying that Jeff would get a good beating tomorrow.

Brandon smiled and said, "Great, perfect timing. I'm going to find that good-for-nothing tomorrow too."

The next morning.

Master Liu arrived at the entrance of the villa complex where Master Fang lived, accompanied by a hundred men he had recruited from Manchester.

Not wanting to disturb Master Fang's rest, Master Liu stood respectfully at the door from five in the morning until seven-thirty.

A maid came out of the villa and said, "Master Fang wants you to come in."

Only then did the usually aloof Master Liu slowly walk in.

Upon seeing Master Fang, Master Liu immediately put down his gifts, knelt on the ground, and bowed deeply to Master Fang. "Master Fang!"

Master Fang sat in his seat and glanced at him. "It's Zhengkun. You're a local boss—why are you bowing so deeply? Get up."

Liu Zhengkun continued to kneel on the ground, excitedly saying, "I, Liu Zhengkun, owe everything I am today to Master Fang's guidance. I will never forget such a great kindness! By the way, wasn't Master Fang in England for the past two years? Why did he suddenly return to the US, and specifically to Riverforge?"

Master Fang said, "I was sent here by the master to assist the third young master."
