As per custom, Mo Fan entered the Underground Holy Spring building as the winner of the duel and to cultivate for a week. However before entering the reclusive cultivation he met with Zhan Kong personally and warned him about quite a few things. He also sent his family and his aunt and others he knew to Shanghai on a pre planned trip, ever since he transmigrated his goal was to lessen the extent of Bo Calamity rather than avoid it completely.
The reason he took such a drastic step was to checkmate Salan in Ancient Capital as long as she appeared there with her alias for revenge, he would end this blight once and for all. For that he let Bo Calamity happen especially since he failed to track Wu Ku in Bo, the Water element disaster victim who was a lynchpin in Salan's strategy.
Zhan Kong acted decisively, on the third day of Mo Fan's cultivation, Bai Yang was silenced outside the safe zone on the fourth day he changed military itinerary with his teacher's authority and conducted a mock drill for civilians that happened every year, three months ahead of schedule. In the drill all civilians were required to evacuate to safety zone.
As for why he waited this long was for the rain to begin, the rain was mixed with Violent Spring an aberration of the Underground Holy Spring and a substance that would sent the magical beasts into a aggressive frenzy.
The wolve clans south of Bo quickly charged towards the Snowy Peak Mountain were they clashed with a prepared army as for tunnels dig by Giant eyed Rats they were dealt with by Enforcement Union under Tang Yue's lead right after the alert was given and Salan's underlings could no longer monitor them.
The wolves were repelled by military, the lone infiltrants were killed by Hunter Union and Magic Association.
Even with all the preparation three thousand lives were lost in Bo, 60% of them mages and the rest unlucky civilians who couldn't get to safety in time.
Mo Fan didn't cultivate for a second and instead used Zhan Kong's method of seal away the Underground Holy Spring and met up with a squad arranged by Zhan Kong and evacuated secretly while Zhan Kong destroyed the building and the Underground Holy Spring and only left traces of it being destroyed while people evacuated.
Salan's objective of testing her formula was completed while acquiring UHS was a deemed a partial success with it being licked clean by a cluster of one eyed wolves while Yu Ang and quite a few people went missing (dead) thanks to Mo Fan's efforts as for the Blue Deacon in Magic City that was all upto Enforcement Union.
Zhan Kong still failed to slay the commander rank Winged Wolf alone and could only repel it, Bo City was turned into a Military Base. Students were given an extra year to prepare for their University exams. They were allowed a extra year of learning in High schools or allowed self cultivation, Mo Fan chose the latter. Since UHS was deemed destroyed Zhan Kong seemingly gave it to Mo Fan as a reward, while in reality the battle plan and the reward was his teacher's idea.
He Yu and Zhang Xiaohou joined the army together and had a simple wedding. Mo Fan broke through to the Intermediate level in Fire element and gave the rest of the UHS to Little Loach pendant for it's breakthrough. He then spent ten million (gained after reselling his Magic Equipment) and awakened Summoning (as far as the Magic association is concerned) and the Shadow elements six months earlier than canon.
Upon Zhan Kong's insistence he was still stationed in Bo although command was taken up by a Super Mage, Xu Zhaoting went to Magic City and redid a year at a High School where he met Zhang Lulu.
Wang Sanpang and Zhao Kunsan decisively gave up studies after moving to Ancient Capital and ran a few stores selling magic ores under Mu Bai's branch of the Mu family.
Mu Bai, Zhou Min and Zhang Yinglu joined the Ancient Capital academy. As for whether they wouldn't achieve their previous heights, Mo Fan didn't think so, even if they were huddled in the safety barrier the sights they saw in Bo afterwards was motivation enough in his opinion as a survivor.
Even he wasn't sure if his and Zhan Kong's plan was actually the correct one.
