Chapter 33 - Chapter 33 — THE WAR OF SHATTERED HEAVENS

The sky fell.

Not in fragments.

Not in fire.

But in colossal, overwhelming shadow.

Astra City vanished beneath descending warships vast metallic leviathans that swallowed sunlight and crushed hope beneath their titanic hulls. Engines roared like dying gods. Gravity bent. Storm clouds spiraled violently around the invading armada, twisting into colossal vortexes that ripped lightning across the heavens.

Buildings trembled.

Streets split.

People screamed.

And war began.

Kael stood amid shattered pavement, rain washing soot and blood from his skin. His chest rose slowly. Each breath steady. Balanced.

In.

Hold.

Out.

The Radiant Blaze stirred faintly beneath his flesh, silver-gold light flickering through his veins. His body still ached from crossing the Lost God Path, but something deeper now anchored him.

He was no longer drifting.

He was grounded.

The first blast struck the eastern sector.

A tower collapsed in a roar of steel and flame.

Kael moved instantly.

He launched forward, space bending beneath his step. The world blurred. Wind screamed past his ears. In a single breath, he crossed kilometers of shattered city.

He arrived as rubble crashed toward fleeing civilians.

Kael raised both hands.

Silver-gold fire erupted outward, shaping itself into a massive barrier. The falling tower shattered against the radiant shield, debris dissolving into harmless light before reaching the ground.

Civilians froze, staring.

Hope flickered in terrified eyes.

"Run," Kael commanded.

They obeyed.

And then the enemy arrived.

The air split.

Dominion shock troops descended in waves—armored soldiers wreathed in crimson energy, weapons humming with destructive power. Their boots struck the ground in perfect unison.

Behind them, colossal biomechanical titans landed, each step cracking the earth, their cannons glowing with concentrated annihilation.

And above them all

The Architect Commander.

His presence alone crushed the air.

Cloaked in shifting abyssal energy, his form flickered between solid and shadow. His eyes burned white, piercing reality itself.

He hovered effortlessly above the battlefield.

And smiled.

"So," he said softly, voice echoing across the city. "The Lost God returns."

Kael clenched his fists.

His breathing slowed.

Control.

"Your war ends today."

The Commander laughed.

The sound shattered nearby windows.

"You still think in mortal scales," he replied. "This is not war. This is erasure."

He lifted one hand.

Reality tore.

A beam of annihilating void energy ripped across the city, erasing entire city blocks in silent oblivion.

Kael vanished.

The beam missed by centimeters.

Kael reappeared beside a collapsing hospital, his hands already raised. Radiant Blaze surged outward, reconstructing shattered supports, holding collapsing walls in place as doctors evacuated screaming patients.

The sky darkened further.

Warships unleashed continuous bombardment.

Missiles screamed.

Energy lances carved through towers.

Kael raced across the city, moving faster than sound, faster than lightning saving thousands in seconds, rebuilding shattered infrastructure, shielding entire districts beneath vast domes of silver light.

But the destruction outpaced him.

And the enemy adapted.

Elite Kimyo Enforcers descended.

Hundreds of them.

Fire wielders.

Gravity benders.

Storm shapers.

Reality distorters.

Each one elite.

Each one lethal.

They attacked in perfect coordination.

Kael spun mid-air as gravitational pressure crushed toward him, twisting space itself. He released a controlled burst of Radiant Blaze, bending gravity aside, redirecting lightning into the sky, dissolving fire before it could touch the ground.

He moved like living flame.

A blur of silver and gold.

Each strike precise.

Each motion economical.

Every breath calculated.

In.

Strike.

Out.

Move.

He dismantled entire platoons in seconds, never killing unless absolutely necessary disarming, disabling, rendering unconscious.

But the Architect Commander merely observed.

Studying.

Learning.

Then

He moved.

Reality fractured as the Commander appeared directly before Kael.

No warning.

No sound.

Only impossible speed.

Their fists collided.

The impact shattered the atmosphere.

A shockwave tore outward, flattening buildings across kilometers.

Kael flew backward, slamming through three skyscrapers before crashing into the street.

Pain exploded through his ribs.

His breathing shattered.

In.

Nothing.

Out.

Nothing.

He forced air back into his lungs, rolling to his feet as another void blade sliced past his head.

The Commander stood calmly, hands folded behind his back.

"Your power is impressive," he said. "But you remain bound by morality. By limitation. By attachment."

Kael wiped blood from his mouth.

"And you remain blind."

The Commander raised an eyebrow.

Kael inhaled deeply.

The Radiant Blaze ignited fully.

Silver-gold fire spiraled violently around his body, merging with a deeper crimson flame rising from his core.

The First Flame awakened.

The city trembled.

"Because you don't understand what it means to protect," Kael whispered.

He vanished.

Reappeared.

Struck.

Their battle transcended physical laws.

They moved across shattered dimensions, tearing through collapsing space, clashing across rooftops, through warships, inside gravity wells and void storms.

Each collision reshaped the city.

Kael fought not with rage

But with purpose.

He absorbed attacks.

Redirected them.

Used enemy power against itself.

Every breath synchronized with every movement.

In.

Strike.

Out.

Deflect.

The Commander frowned.

"You adapt too quickly."

Kael met his gaze.

"I had good teachers."

Below them, the battlefield raged.

Arielle led resistance forces, emerald energy spiraling from her hands as she shielded evacuation corridors.

Chase tore through enemy lines in flashes of lightning, his strikes blinding and relentless.

Lysander moved like shadow, blades flashing, dismantling enemy command units with surgical precision.

Together, they held the city.

Barely.

But the tide was turning.

Until

The warships changed formation.

Dozens aligned overhead.

Their cores glowed simultaneously.

Kael felt it instantly.

"Orbital annihilation cannons," the Commander said softly. "This city will cease to exist in thirty seconds."

Kael's heart slammed.

"No."

He vanished.

Reappearing high above the city.

Thirty warships.

Thirty annihilation beams charging.

His breathing slowed.

Steady.

Focused.

He spread his arms.

Radiant Blaze surged.

The First Flame answered.

A colossal sigil ignited beneath his feet, spanning kilometers ancient symbols interlocking into a divine formation.

Space bent.

Time slowed.

Kael screamed.

Not in pain.

In defiance.

Silver-gold fire erupted outward, forming a planetary shield around Astra City.

The beams fired.

They struck.

The shield trembled violently.

Kael's body convulsed.

Blood streamed from his eyes.

His bones cracked.

His breathing shattered.

In.

Out.

Hold.

He poured everything into the shield.

Every memory.

Every loss.

Every promise.

The beams faded.

The warships fell silent.

The shield remained.

Kael collapsed mid-air, barely catching himself before crashing onto a rooftop.

His chest heaved violently.

Every breath burned.

But Astra City still stood.

The Commander stared.

For the first time

His smile faded.

"Interesting," he murmured.

He turned away.

"This was only a demonstration," he said calmly. "Next time, I will not hold back."

Space twisted.

And he vanished.

The remaining warships retreated.

Silence fell across the city.

Rain began to fall.

Soft.

Gentle.

Washing blood from broken streets.

Kael lay on his back, staring at the fractured sky, chest rising and falling slowly.

In.

Out.

He had won.

But he understood now.

This war had only begun.

And the enemies ahead…

Were far worse than anything he had faced before.

High above the ruined city, hidden beyond reality, ancient eyes opened.

And something older than gods began to move.
