The modest apartment where both Lily and Sieg lived was quiet in the early morning light. Sieg shot out of bed, blinking at the clock.
Sieg "Crap I'm going to be late."
Without hesitation, he brushed his teeth, gobbled four sausages from the table Lily left for him before she left for work and washed it down with a cup of milk.
He wiped his face, giving the mirror a cocky smirk as he took his shiny new badge from the table and put it inside his pocket.
"Let's go!" Sieg shouted to no one but himself, clenching his fists.
Sieg "My journey to become the King of Knights starts today!" His words echoed, full of excitement.
He dashed out the door, running full speed to the academy, where the Rank 3 Magic Knights were about to be assigned their teams.
Just as he rounded the corner, he slammed into someone—BAM!
"Ow!" Sieg rubbed his head, wincing in pain.
"Sorry!" a soft voice squeaked.
He looked up to see Miki standing in front of him, her purple bob haircut messy from the collision. The hoodie she had been wearing had slipped off, revealing the sharp contrast between the right side of her face, where her purple eyes met a perfectly styled fringe.
Sieg "Hey, watch where you're going next time." Sieg complained, though there was no real heat behind his words.
Sieg "Are you okay miki?" He said helping her up.
Miki quickly nodded, her cheeks still flushed.
Miki "It's my fault. You don't have to apologize."
Her eyes moved toward the bruise on Sieg's forehead
Miki "You're injured hold still." She touched his forehead as her hand glowed with a purple aura and the bruise was immediately gone.
Sieg blinked in surprise as the pain vanished.
Sieg "Wow i feel so much better, Thanks Miki." He smiled, slightly embarrassed.
Miki stammered, her voice quiet. "It... it was nothing. I just... helped a friend."
Sieg "So what are you doing around here."
Miki "Oh I'm just doing some little errands for my dad."
Before Sieg could respond, he glanced at the clock tower and cursed under his breath.
Sieg "Well, you better hurry up. They're going to assign us to teams today."
Sieg "But if you want, I could help you."
Miki "Don't worry I'm fine."
Sieg "Okay then see you in class, Miki!" Without another word, he sprinted off.
Miki smiled back at him and waved "See you in class Sieg.
At the academy's outdoor assembly. Sieg came running through the halls, panting heavily.
Sieg "Alright... i finally made it.
A familiar voice called out from behind him
Zeek "Well look what the cat dragged in."
Three students walked up to Sieg
Zeek "Late again huh Sieg.
Sieg "Sup, Zeek" He grinned
Mochito "Hey Sieg, did you by chance bring hot sauce with you I'm all out.
Mochito continued stuffing his mouth with a huge burger.
Luna "Argh... Is food the only thing you think about in that thick fat head of yours.
Mochito "Your tricks won't work on me, insulting me isn't going to make me give you my food. I'm not sharing."
Luna "I didn't even ask in the first place you oaf"
Zeek sighed "Mehn what a drag, how did i even get paired with the two of you.
Sieg "Huh you guys have already been paired.
Luna "Yeah we're officially Team M.
Then another voice interrupted them
Finral walked over and put his arms across Sieg
Finral "Sieg long time no see, Did you do something stupid today as always.
Finral grinned sarcastically
Boa Yu "Hey guys what's up.
Luna sighed "Hey Boa you also got paired with these two useless boys as well.
Boa Yu giggled "Yeah but i wouldn't call them useless"
Finral " You have such a sharp tongue Luna. It kinda hurt my feelings but i forgive you if you promise to go on a date with me.
Luna "No chance in hell you pervert"
Finral "Boa what about you, wanna spend a romantic evening with me after our mission.
Boa "I rather kiss the bathroom floor instead.
Finral broke down crying as Zeek and Mochito cheered him up.
Zeek "Sheesh... Getting rejected by two girls in a day harsh.
Boa Yu "Hold on where's David?"
David suddenly appeared from the silence quietly reading his manga paying no attention whatsoever.
David "I'm over here"
Everyone screamed "Argh... You scared the hell out of us.
David turned the page
David "Really, sorry i guess.
Zeek "So, i take it you guys are a team!"
Finral "Yeah... The three of us are Team A. And I'm going to be the greatest magic knight in the world unlike someone who still hasn't awakened his magic affinity.
He sneered at Sieg mockingly
Sieg blinked
Sieg "Oh... Right guess i haven't told you guys I've awakened my Magic affinity
All "What!!!!!
David looked up from his comic for a bit and continued reading
Luna "You have a magic affinity? What is it? Show us"
Sieg raised his hand and a tiny flame sparked from his palm.
Mochito "Fire Magic huh.
Finral "Tch... It's nothing special.
Then suddenly the flame erupts and gets bigger as it catches everyone by surprise.
Luna "What the hell is your problem, do you want to burn this school down!"
Boa Yu "Sieg put it out"
Sieg wriggled his hand in panic as the flame extinguished.
Sieg "Sorry, I guess i still haven't learned how to control my Fire Magic yet...heh heh.
Mochito: "Anyway, if you want to know who you're teamed with, they're posted at the end of the hall on the billboard."
Mochito said eating a Burrito the size of his arm.
Zeek "And just where the hell did you get that huge burrito from?"
Mochito "From my secret stash "
Finral "Tch... Whatever we're out of here, come on Team A let's go.
Finral left the hall, with Boa Yu and David following quietly behind him.
Luna "Let's go guys we don't want to keep our new Captain waiting"
Team M also left the hall
Sieg ran toward the end of hall as his eyes scanned the billboard.
Sieg "Ah I've found it I'm in Team E and my partner is... Oh no you've got to be kidding me.
Aturia "I was just about to say the same thing
Aturia walked toward Sieg facing the billboard, As she flicked her hair aside.
Sieg "Well this is going to be interesting huh
Aturia gave Sieg an unamused glance before looking forward."
Aturia "Tch... Just don't slow me down you loser.
Sieg thought "Why did i have to be paired with her of all people. So infuriating"
Aturia "So who's our third teammate
They heard small footsteps echoing behind them.
Miki "Um... I guess that would be me."
Miki said softly, fidgeting with her fingers.
Aturia "I guess that means the three of us are Team E.
