The three of them stood in front of the team assignment board for a moment.
Sieg glanced between Aturia and Miki.
Sieg "Well... looks like we're stuck with each other."
Aturia crossed her arms.
Aturia "Speak for yourself. I'm only here because I have no choice."
Sieg "Yeah, yeah. I get it."
Miki looked between them nervously.
Miki "Um... I think we'll make a good team though."
Aturia looked at her.
Aturia "You really think so?"
Miki nodded.
Miki "Sieg is strong, and you're really skilled with your magic."
Aturia "Hmph."
Sieg grinned.
Sieg "See? Miki has faith in us."
Aturia "I wasn't talking to you."
Sieg "I know. I'm just appreciating the compliment."
Miki covered her mouth, letting out a small laugh.
Aturia glanced at her.
Aturia "What's so funny?"
Miki quickly shook her head.
Miki "Nothing."
Aturia sighed.
Aturia "You two are way too comfortable with each other."
Sieg "We've known each other for years."
Miki nodded.
Miki "Since we were little."
Aturia looked at the two of them for a moment before turning back toward the board.
Aturia "Whatever. We should figure out who our captain is."
Sieg "Good idea."
Three hours passed as Team E stayed in an empty classroom waiting for their assigned Captain.
Sieg's patience ran thin as he slammed his fist on the desk.
Sieg "Ugh! What's taking him so long?! He's late!"
Aturia "One can't tell time, and the other can't tell when to shut up.
Sieg "Whatever you say, Ice Dweeb."
Miki shifted nervously.
Miki "I'm sure he'll be here soon you guys.
Suddenly, a mischievous grin spread across Sieg's face. He grabbed a bucket from the back of the classroom, rushed outside, and returned with the bucket filled with water.
Miki's "Sieg… What are you doing?"
She said puzzled
Sieg "His punishment for being late. Seig said with a smug grin.
Sieg "It's gonna be one of my best pranks yet.
Sieg carefully placed water bucket on top of the door.
Aturia rolled her eyes. "You're an idiot, There's no way a Rank 1 Magic Knight would fall for something so childish."
Seig chuckled. "We'll see."
The door creaked open.
SPLASH!!!
Water drenched the man standing in the doorway.
He had a muscular build, with wild, unkempt black hair. He wore a white singlet, black trousers, and brown boots. A katana was strapped to his hip.
Sieg was trying to hold back his laughter.
Miki started to silently panic
While Aturia just stared in total disbelief.
This man stood there for a moment, motionless.
Then slowly he took a long gulp from the can of alcohol in his hand.
Captain Baka, the newly drenched Rank 1 Magic Knight, turned his attention to the trio.
Captain Baka "I hate all of you." he muttered with his deep voice.
He walked over to the front as water dripped from his clothes. He sighed, glancing at the three of them in turn.
Captain Baka "What are you three waiting for an invitation?? Introduce yourselves"
Miki blinked. "Huh... What should we tell you.
Captain Baka shrugged nonchalantly "I don't know tell me about your Likes, Dislikes, Dreams."
Sieg "Before that… tell us about you so we can see how it's supposed to work.
Captain Baka's eyes narrowed. "I'm Baka. I like drinking, I dislike trouble, and my dream is to retire peacefully without having to deal with brats like you."
He pointed to Sieg
Captain Baka "Your turn"
Sieg grinned. "My name is Sieg Pendragon. I love meat, causing pranks and my Auntie."
He leaned forward, eyes burning with determination.
Sieg "My dream is to become the King of Knights so that no one can decide my fate.
Miki "My name is Miki Senji i like reading and gardening, My dream is to become the best magic knight healer in Camelot.
She hesitated, looking down for a moment before continuing.
Miki "I dislike letting people down… being too timid… and I hate hurting others. But I want to be brave, to help others… without being afraid to express myself."
Aturia "My name is Aturia Silva, I have many dislikes, No likes."
And my goal is to get stronger and I have no intention of failing till I achieve my ambition.
Sieg raised an eyebrow.
Sieg "That's it?"
Aturia turned her gaze to him, her cold eyes piercing through him.
Aturia "I don't have to explain myself to you, i prefer if you mind your business," she said sharply.
There was a long silence.
Captain Baka "Interesting."
"You three are quite quirky but I like that."
Captain Baka "Tomorrow, you'll undergo your first field assessment. I just want to see your combat skills in action.
Sieg leaned forward, eyes wide with excitement.
Sieg "What kind of assessment is it going to be?!
Captain Baka smiled grimly "Well, it's nothing to worry about. But it's going to be fun… for me, at least."
Captain Baka "Also i suggest you don't eat breakfast if you don't want to throw up.
He turned to leave, his voice cold as he spoke.
Captain Baka "Five in the morning tomorrow at the arena.
And with that, he walked out, the door swinging shut behind him.
The next morning, Sieg, Miki, and Aturia arrived at the arena at 5:00 AM, their stomachs already growling from hunger.
But their captain was nowhere to be seen.
They waited.
And waited.
Finally, at 11:00 AM, Baka strolled into the arena, looking completely unfazed.
Aturia: "Tch... Typical."
Sieg: "You're late!"
Captain Baka: "Sorry. I guess I was just lost on the path of life."
The trio stared at him for a moment.
"Liar."
Captain Baka "Let's get started."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out two metal keys.
"Here's the deal," Baka said.
Captain Baka "Your task is simple, take these keys from me before an hour.
Aturia "Is there some kinda catch, why is there only two keys?"
Captain Baka "Because if any one of you fails to get a key, you'll have no choice but to forfeit your Rank 3 Magic Knight badge."
The trio stared at their Captain in surprise.
Sieg frowned, nervously glancing at the keys. "But… Why?"
Captain Baka "Because in the magic world there's no mercy. You three would have to show me your resolve and will to convince me that you're ready to be Magic Knights.
Captain Baka: "If you don't think you're up to it, then you're nothing more than a weakling with a dream."
Sieg clenched his fists as flames began to flicker around his hands.
Sieg "Who the hell are you calling a weakling."
Captain Baka raided an eyebrow
Sieg "I'm not backing down just because some lazy captain thinks I'm weak.
BRING IT ON!!!
But before Sieg could move or even realize what had just happened.
In a blur, Baka grabbed Sieg's arm, twisted it behind his back and pinned him to the ground, his katana placed against his throat.
Baka let out a sigh
Captain Baka "Kids these days so impatient...Tch"
Sieg thought "I… didn't even see him move or realize when he got behind me.
Aturia thought "This man is no joke"
Miki thought "What happened just now? I could tell it wasn't a flash step technique... Could his movement speed really be that fast?"
Baka released Sieg and stepped back..
Captain Baka "But at least i like your determination kid, That's something.
Baka said with a grin.
The tension in the air became thick as the trio stood before their Captain.
Captain Baka "I won't use my magic but that doesn't mean I'm taking it easy on you.
He cracked his knuckle
Captain Baka "Alright let's begin, Take the keys or one of you goes back home.
