Chapter 59 - Chapter 58: A savage fight, the personalities of Supay, part 2.

Wrath, sloth, greed, pride, gluttony, lust, and envy: all of these are deadly sins marked as filthy and nefarious, but where did they come from? Perhaps, just perhaps, they were there from the very beginning.

Continuing with the story, our friends DANTE and MAYANTÚ stand before "SUPAY of Pride" and "SUPAY of Envy," a thick tension hanging in the air.

SUPAY OF PRIDE: This little friend is "SUPAY of Envy." She's tiny, but don't let that deceive you; this creature has tried to take my place for thousands of years. Now that I have her under control, she can't do anything against me, but you two are another story (sinister grin).

"SUPAY of Envy" glares resentfully at "SUPAY of Pride."

SUPAY OF ENVY: Don't get too full of yourself—one day you'll be mine, hehehe.

SUPAY OF PRIDE: Umm, I don't think so, you little bastard. Now fight for me! (Kicks her).

"SUPAY of Envy" picks herself up, sore from the kick delivered by her companion, standing by his side visibly humiliated. DANTE and MAYANTÚ watch the exchange with pity, whispering between themselves.

DANTE HERALDI: Hey, Mayantú, don't you think the little one harbors some serious resentment toward the other?

MAYANTÚ: It's obvious, my good friend. That small creature represents envy, and she doesn't seem to follow Pride's orders all that strictly. Looks like we might have an opening here.

While all this is taking place, let us shift to QUETZALCOATL's fight. She is locked in with "SUPAY of Wrath," both staring intensely at each other, waiting to see who makes the first move. However, desperation and rage drive "SUPAY of Wrath" to pounce blindly at the goddess.

QUETZALCOATL: (in her mind while dodging) This monster doesn't possess sophisticated powers—he just attacks wildly. I admit his strength is immense; if he hits me, he'll cause severe damage just like a moment ago. I need to defeat him using my head.

As QUETZALCOATL dodges the relentless attacks of "SUPAY of Wrath," the goddess slowly realizes that her own desire to kill him is rising, noticing that the mere presence of "SUPAY of Wrath" induces feelings of pure hatred. Catching QUETZALCOATL off guard for a split second, "SUPAY of Wrath" attempts to double-hammer her with both arms, but QUETZALCOATL narrowly escapes, taking slight damage to her right hand. Swiftly beginning to heal herself, she puts distance between them as "SUPAY of Wrath" merely growls at her.

Rapidly, "SUPAY of Wrath" charges QUETZALCOATL again. She strictly dodges, landing an occasional blow, but "SUPAY of Wrath" seems completely unfazed; if anything, his power has surged, something QUETZALCOATL notices as she falls back. Immediately, she summons a powerful tornado that shakes the entire area, yet "SUPAY of Wrath" only staggers slightly without his feet ever leaving the ground. Seeing the overwhelming power of "SUPAY of Wrath" before her, QUETZALCOATL unleashes countless wind blades, faintly cutting the skin of "SUPAY of Wrath," who roars back, producing a sonic shockwave that destabilizes the goddess.

Seizing this opening, "SUPAY of Wrath" throws a ranged punch that generates a massive shockwave, blasting QUETZALCOATL through the air to slam against the dark wall. QUETZALCOATL inwardly admits the brute is formidable and gets back up, unleashing her maximum power: this time, two gargantuan serpents burst from the earth, tearing through everything in their path and biting "SUPAY of Wrath" simultaneously. However, "SUPAY of Wrath" manages to grab both giant serpents in his hands—one in each grip—and squeezes until their heads explode, freeing himself. With the serpents dead, QUETZALCOATL stands in shock as "SUPAY of Wrath" lands right in front of her, glaring with eyes burning red with fury, swinging a full-force punch; it seemed as though QUETZALCOATL was doomed.

QUETZALCOATL exhales a single breath, and in a fluid movement, deflects the attack of "SUPAY of Wrath" with her hands. Driven by his own momentum, the brute crashes heavily against the wall and falls hard to the ground, standing back up disoriented, clutching his head. We see QUETZALCOATL calming herself, tilting her head from side to side as if shaking off thousands of years of built-up stress. Clenching her fists, she assumes a rare combat stance and speaks to the SUPAY before her.

QUETZALCOATL: I see you don't talk much, you cursed monster. Umm, you know? In the mortal village, I learned new fighting techniques from a man who hailed from a country called JAPAN. He was fascinating; he only told me his name was O-Sensei, giving me no further details. I had never seen a human with his abilities—he was astounding, even defeating me in hand-to-hand combat using peculiar movements. But the most important lesson he taught me was that one must keep a clear mind and remain in balance with nature. What he taught me can be used against you... it's time you get ready (satisfied grin).

A deafening roar instantly echoes, yet QUETZALCOATL remains serene and composed. We witness "SUPAY of Wrath" charge at her, consumed by rage, but she catches him by a single finger. Using his own momentum, QUETZALCOATL redirects his trajectory, slamming him headfirst into the ground. Because the impact was generated by his own momentum and the resulting damage stems from environmental force, the ability that boosted his strength through taken damage fails to activate, as the harm did not originate directly from a living entity. This exact sequence repeats time and again, leaving "SUPAY of Wrath" desperate as he is not only being humiliated, but gradually weakened by the natural impact of his own strength.

Enraged, "SUPAY of Wrath" pushes himself up from the ground, thoroughly exhausted from the repeated impacts, and speaks for the first time in a raspy, distorted voice.

SUPAY OF WRATH: (exhausted) Curse you... how can you deflect me like that?! That human who taught you those tricks was a filthy cheater! HAAAA!

QUETZALCOATL is slightly irked by the words of "SUPAY of Wrath," yet maintains her composure. Without hesitation, "SUPAY of Wrath" begins surging his power, dropping into a sprinter's stance to tackle QUETZALCOATL at full speed.

He launches himself like a projectile toward the goddess, but with flawless movement, right as he is about to make impact, she places a hand beneath his jaw and redirects his body skyward. "SUPAY of Wrath" is sent soaring into the air, where QUETZALCOATL strikes his throat, weakening him further. She then maneuvers onto his back, steps on his head, and wrenches "SUPAY of Wrath's" own arm around his neck, choking him with his own limb as they spin downward toward the earth.

"SUPAY of Wrath" struggles frantically to break free, but his massive musculature hampers his flexibility. QUETZALCOATL was leveraging "SUPAY of Wrath's" own raw power against him. In an instant, "SUPAY of Wrath" is slammed violently into the ground, his throat crushed by his own arm, instantly knocking him unconscious from the sheer impact. QUETZALCOATL leaps off the monster's back and steps aside, emerging victorious from the clash as she addresses the fallen beast.

QUETZALCOATL: To think I had to resort to actual martial techniques to defeat you, beast... You should have kept attacking instead of opening your mouth, and especially instead of insulting my master. You got what you deserved.

We now see "SUPAY of Wrath" begin to fade away, dissolving into mist. One of the arena walls crumbles, and QUETZALCOATL steps through the breach. Upon entering, she finds REX lying in his normal form, bleeding and severely wounded, with "SUPAY of Greed" standing before him about to deliver the final blow. But now, let us rewind a few minutes to witness how this battle unfolded, and how REX ended up in such a state.

A few minutes before QUETZALCOATL's victory, we find ourselves in the clash between REX and "SUPAY of Greed," who skillfully prepare to strike, measuring every inch between them. REX, transformed into his giant white wolf form, swiftly launches a fireball to initiate the battle, while "SUPAY of Greed" simply steps back to dodge. Opening a small portal, he draws two spears into his top set of arms, followed by two crossbows into his middle set. Instantly, two swords manifest into his lower arms, equipping "SUPAY of Greed" with a full arsenal.

Rapidly, REX closes in on a zigzagging pattern as "SUPAY of Greed" fires a continuous hail of arrows—his crossbows self-reloading with an infinite supply. Once within range, REX unleashes a massive fireball at point-blank distance, but "SUPAY of Greed" manages to block the spell with his swords.

After a macabre laugh, the demon hurls his spears high into the air, multiplying into a torrential rain aimed directly at REX. Cornered, REX channels every ounce of his power, attempting to replicate the transformation magic ELENA had cast on him during the battle against the jaguar generals. The spears rain down upon REX's position, but out steps a transformed werewolf—REX had successfully replicated ELENA's spell!

Astonished, REX checks his status, realizing the transformation had been added to his list of abilities and was now his to command. For the moment, everything unfolds seamlessly as REX relentlessly attacks "SUPAY of Greed." The demon, mildly annoyed yet visibly delighted, parries the strikes as the fight escalates into a high-speed frenzy. REX slashes wildly with his claws, unaware that he is stepping straight into the monster's trap: the demon's passive aura was slowly corrupting his mind.

REX begins feeling an unnatural desire toward "SUPAY of Greed's" weapons, a feeling that strikes him as bizarre. Mid-distraction, he is impaled by the demon's spear as "SUPAY of Greed" cackles like a madman.

SUPAY OF GREED: Wahahahaha! To think a beast could harbor human desires! Tell me, animal, how does it feel to crave something with every fiber of your being?

REX: Is this... greed? I have no need for your weapons, yet my soul urges me to strip them from you, clouding my mind!

SUPAY OF GREED: That's right, hehehe! Now take this!

"SUPAY of Greed" leaps back as the tips of his arrows ignite with blue flames, firing at blinding speeds. Unable to dodge the barrage due to the spear wound, REX attempts to break through the endless sea of arrows by spitting fireballs. The collision generates a dense blanket of smoke across the arena. Weakened, REX reverts to his giant white wolf form, as his body was not yet accustomed to maintaining the werewolf transformation.

Without hesitation, REX lunges through the smoke to crush the demon's throat. Sensing the movement, "SUPAY of Greed" hurls his spears toward the silhouette behind the curtain of smoke. REX manages to slip past unharmed by dropping back into his base form mid-stride. In a swift maneuver, he sinks his teeth straight into "SUPAY of Greed's" neck. The demon stands stunned by REX's sheer resolve, but right as REX clamps his jaws to tear out his windpipe, "SUPAY of Greed" drives his lower swords straight through REX's torso, inflicting critical injuries.

Cast aside violently, REX lies bleeding out on the cold floor. As life fades, a tear slips from his eye as memories of his journey with DANTE and the others flash before him, wondering if "this is the end."

Just then, one of the arena walls crumbles, revealing QUETZALCOATL stepping through the dust, bringing us back to where we left off.

QUETZALCOATL spots REX lying on the ground and rushes to his aid. With a gust of wind, she blasts "SUPAY of Greed" backward and takes position at REX's side. Wasting no time, she channels her healing magic which, combined with REX's natural self-regeneration, pulls him back from the brink of death.

QUETZALCOATL: Rex, how are you holding up? Are you all right now?

REX: Forgive me... that thing is resilient and strong, and its weapons are strange.

QUETZALCOATL: Don't worry, rest for a moment; I will take care of this entity myself.

QUETZALCOATL is determined to protect her friend REX and steps in front of "SUPAY of Greed," who glares at her with utter contempt.

SUPAY OF GREED: Woman, what happened to the other one?

QUETZALCOATL: That brute only knew how to throw punches; as you can see, I am standing here and he isn't, so you can easily imagine what happened.

SUPAY OF GREED: Useless fool... Oh, I can already feel his presence surging within my body.

QUETZALCOATL: What do you mean?

SUPAY OF GREED: You see, whenever one of us falls in combat, the vanquished one's power is distributed among those of us who remain, making us even stronger. However, the raw emotion tied to that power infuses our bodies as well. For that very reason, I am beginning to despise you for your interference; that sack of fleas was already mine!

QUETZALCOATL: It seems this fight will be even more thrilling. I am almost grateful, as I want to test all the combat techniques my other masters taught me, hehe.

A colossal clash is about to unfold. What other abilities does QUETZALCOATL hold in reserve? How much stronger has Greed grown after absorbing Wrath's fall? Will REX be able to rejoin the fight? We will find out very soon.
