Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Cave

Sofia woke to the sound of dripping water, her eyes adjusting to the darkness. Leila was curled up beside her, her breathing even. Sofia's mind was hazy, her body stiff. They were in a cave, she remembered now. They had escaped the attackers, but where was Arin? She pushed the thought away, focusing on the present.

Leila stirred, her eyes opening. "Princess," she whispered. Sofia smiled, her voice low. "How are you?" Leila sat up, her eyes scanning the cave.

"I'm fine, Princess. You should eat something." Sofia nodded, her stomach growling. They had food, at least. Leila had packed it, before...

Sofia pushed the thought away, focusing on the present. They needed to find a way out of here, to find help. But for now, they were safe. Leila handed her a piece of dried meat, and Sofia took it, her eyes adjusting to the darkness. They ate in silence, the only sound the dripping water.

As they finished, Sofia heard a noise, her heart pounding. Leila's eyes were fixed on the entrance, her expression tense. Sofia's voice was barely above a whisper. "What is that?" Leila's voice was low. "I don't know, Princess. But I think we're not alone."
