Chapter 9 -  Blue Silver Grass, Mutated Blue Silver Grass

On the other side, Wang Sheng had indeed been thoroughly beaten by Tang San and was now lying on the ground, struggling to get back up.

He was already injured and had suffered even more, but he did not resent Tang San because of it. Instead, he seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and said, "Tang San, I can't beat you. I guess Wang Li can't beat you either. From now on, you're the boss of Dorm Seven."

Tang San's expression was calm as he replied evenly, "I never wanted to fight you in the first place, and I don't want to be the boss of Dorm Seven either."

When Wang Sheng heard this, his expression suddenly turned serious. His face was still covered in bruises, which made him look somewhat comical, but he spoke in a deep voice, "Tang San, this has always been the rule. We work-study students are the poorest and weakest group at Notting Academy. The teachers don't really like us, but they won't bully us either. However, those self-funded students from noble backgrounds, who pay their own way into the academy to cultivate, always enjoy bullying us."

"They have powerful backgrounds. Sometimes the teachers will scold them, but they won't punish them. In order to avoid being bullied, we work-study students have always stuck together. The strongest among us naturally becomes the boss, earns everyone's respect, and is also responsible for protecting everyone."

At this point, Wang Sheng's face was filled with helplessness.

Tang San frowned. He had not expected such filth and unfairness to exist even in a small academy like this. He did not want to be involved with too many people, but being singled out would be troublesome as well. After thinking for a moment, he nodded and said, "If someone bullies us, I won't stand by and do nothing. But don't call me boss. I'm not used to it."

At this moment, Wang Li's attention was no longer on Wang Sheng or Tang San, but instead fixed on the dormitory entrance.

Sure enough, not long after, a cute little girl with a scorpion braid walked boldly into the dormitory and looked around at everyone.

She spoke sweetly, "Is this Dorm Seven?"

Wang Li took a deep breath, his eyes flickering as he thought to himself: Tang San arrived first, and now Xiao Wu is here too. How did that saying go again? The gears of fate have started turning…

As soon as Xiao Wu spoke, everyone in the dormitory turned to look at her.

Tang San looked at Xiao Wu. A faint blush appeared on his slightly dark face as he asked Wang Sheng in disbelief, "Doesn't the academy separate dormitories by gender?"

Wang Sheng gave him a strange look and said, "We're all work-study students, and we're all just kids. The academy doesn't give us any special treatment."

After saying that, Wang Sheng said excitedly, "Now you're the boss. Go on! Teach her a lesson and show her who's in charge."

Tang San could not bring himself to be rough with this girl no matter how hard he tried.

While they were still hesitating, Xiao Wu had already walked in. She smiled sweetly at everyone and said, "My name is Xiao Wu. Wu as in dancing. Could you please move aside and let me through?"

Seeing that Xiao Wu had already walked right up to them, Tang San, urged on by Wang Sheng, decided that he should at least go through the motions. Unlike when he taught Wang Sheng a lesson, he truly only planned to make a token effort against Xiao Wu. He said, "My name is Tang San. My martial soul is Blue Silver Grass, and I'm a Level 10 soul practitioner. I'm the… dorm leader here. The rule of Dorm Seven is that newcomers have to show their martial soul strength."

Xiao Wu glanced at Wang Sheng behind Tang San and then at Wang Li standing off to the side. Seeing the bruises on their faces, she immediately understood what "showing strength" meant. Not only was she not afraid, she said cheerfully, "Sure! Then I won't hold back!"

After that, she put the school uniform she was holding to one side and said, "Xiao Wu, martial soul: Rabbit, Level 10 soul practitioner…"

After copying Tang San's introduction, Xiao Wu immediately launched her attack. Her right leg snapped out, her toes aimed straight at Tang San's chin.

When Tang San heard that Xiao Wu was also a Level 10 soul practitioner, he froze for a moment. Coupled with how fast she moved, he could only respond hastily. He quickly sidestepped, reached out with one hand to grab her ankle, and at the same time rammed into her with an Iron Mountain Shoulder.

The Iron Mountain Shoulder could be both real and feigned. Distracted by Xiao Wu's beauty, Tang San used very little strength in this move and clearly held back.

However, Xiao Wu was stronger than he had expected. She reacted instantly to Tang San's attack. Instead of retreating, she advanced, closing in on him. In a dazzling sequence of movements, she mounted Tang San.

To be precise, she clamped him with her calves in midair like a fully drawn bow, then released all her strength at once and hurled him away.

Xiao Wu landed steadily on her feet, while Tang San was smashed into the ground with a loud bang.

Everyone around them was stunned. They had thought Tang San was already the strongest among them, but Xiao Wu was even more fierce. Where did this monster come from?

Wang Li replayed the fight in his mind, feeling deeply frustrated. If he had known he would transmigrate, he would have at least learned some Tai Chi. Facing Tang San and Xiao Wu now, aside from having a system panel, he had no real advantage at all.

By this time, Tang San had already climbed back to his feet. He stared straight at Xiao Wu and said, "You said you're a Level 10 soul practitioner. Does that mean you also have innate full soul power?"

Xiao Wu was about to continue attacking, but when she heard this, she laughed sweetly and said, "That's right. Still want to fight?"

Tang San shook his head, raised his hand, and released his martial soul. A plant grew out of thin air as he said helplessly, "This is my martial soul. My martial soul is restrained by yours, so I definitely can't beat you. From now on, you're the boss of this dormitory, which means you're also their boss."

Xiao Wu looked extremely interested when she heard this, but she frowned slightly and said, "Since I'm the boss of this dormitory, my first order is that no one is allowed to call me 'boss.' From now on, you all have to call me Sister Xiao Wu."

After hearing this and recalling Xiao Wu's violent display earlier, who would dare object? Everyone shouted in unison, "Sister Xiao Wu."

At this moment, Wang Sheng was completely convinced. There hadn't been a single new student last year, but this year two had arrived with innate full soul power. The only thing that puzzled him was, "Are Blue Silver Grass martial souls really this powerful now? One with Level 3 soul power, and another with Level 10."

Wang Sheng was not the only one with this question. Everyone present was extremely surprised, and then they all turned to look at Wang Li.

Facing their gazes, Wang Li raised his right hand and activated his martial soul. A plant that was thicker and more upright than ordinary Blue Silver Grass appeared in his palm. He said deliberately, "This is my martial soul: Mutated Blue Silver Grass."

People in the Douluo world were generally not very clever. Since Wang Li's Martial Soul Hall certificate stated "Mutated Blue Silver Grass," he naturally intended to make full use of that advantage.

No matter what changes his Blue Silver Grass underwent in the future, he could simply attribute everything to the word "mutated."

Given the Douluo Continent's almost superstitious belief in martial souls, even if he reached soul master in a few months, or advanced to great soul master or soul elder in six years, all of it would seem perfectly reasonable as long as he used the word "mutation."

At this moment, Xiao Wu first looked at Tang San's Blue Silver Grass, then at Wang Li's Blue Silver Grass. As if she had discovered something incredible, she said excitedly, "Your Blue Silver Grass is so big! It's several times bigger than Tang San's."
