Chapter 4 - Truth Hurts

Felix rode the motorcycle with his parents. His father drove, he sat in the middle, while her mother embraced him tightly.

They wore a helmet with a feature to warm their dampened heads. Furthermore, it helped them communicate with other people wearing a helmet, too.

Felix's mother, Sarah Hill, said in a worried tone, "Son, you should listen to the mayor. Do what you have to do. You are still young, focus on yourself first. I know you're worried about us, but we can still handle ourselves, your younger sister, too.

We also have saved enough money for your college tuition. So, invest most of your time on the college enrollment, focus on your studies and what you have summoned.

Beasts or not, I'm sure it has uses."

Felix couldn't help but glance at the sword, a rusty old dull sword in his grasp.

He replied, "Yeah, I'll definitely focus on learning about my summon."

Felix could still see the wall of texts beside the sword, making him contemplate it.

He asked his mother, "The mayor can be reached out, right? Mother?"

Sarah replied, "Since he said he will help you, then you shouldn't shy away from this opportunity."

Felix nodded. He planned to ask about the materials for restoring the body of the sword.

He slowly pushed the sword on his chest and his father's back, wanting to prevent any incidents that it might cause while they were in the middle of the road.

Soon, they reached their apartment in the residential area after an hour and half of travel.

They greeted their neighbor, who opened the gate, not only for them, but for himself as he was about to head for his work.

As they entered and settled outside their apartment, their neighbor, Felix's aunt at the same time, appeared outside of her door and greeted them.

"Sarah! Felix! How did the summoning go? What was—"

"Where is your beast? And why are you holding an antique sword?"

Felix was about to say something when he held himself back. He did not know what to say.

As much as he wanted to explain, his aunt's tongue was like a venomous snake.

As expected, when his mother, Sarah, walked in front of him and explained on his behalf, his aunt was utterly shocked and said, "Just as I thought he would summon a Common rank beast because of you two, who would have thought he would summon worse than that?"

Sarah and Noah Hill were taken aback. Noah was about to rebuke her but Sarah, seemingly aware of how her husband would react, waved her hand to Noah behind her and smiled awkwardly, saying, "It's not worse than you think. The Mayor already told him he would help him discover and learn of what he summoned."

Her aunt immediately replied with a concerned tone, "No, you should not disturbed the Mayor. He already has his hands full of the responsibilities as the mayor of this city. If it turns out it's just trash, won't you be wasting his time and effort?"

Sarah was about to say something when Noah couldn't hold himself back and said, "You are trash! Worse than trash! Your character stinks! You—"

"Enough!" Sarah swiftly turned and glared at her husband.

Noah was taken aback. He gazed at his wife's fierce expression and sighed.

He grabbed Felix's shoulder and led him to enter their apartment.

Felix turned towards his mother and his aunt.

His aunt was arguing with his mother, while the latter kept apologizing.

"You should make him apologize to me, sister! She just insulted me! I won't let this slide, I'l definitely inform my husband about this!"

"I'm sorry, dear sister. I already scolded him! Don't worry, I will scold him later again. He just entered the apartment because he did not want our son to see that I just scolded him."

"Hump! You better be! I don't dare let someone get away from trashing me!

I was just telling the truth earlier, I guess the truth hurts.

I'm telling you, dear sister, you should heed my suggestions. The mayor is already busy as it is. Also, since your son summoned a trash, you should tell him to distance himself from the mayor's daughter, as it might only taint her image.

Or better, can you introduce my son to her? My son is a genius, you know? He just told me that he reached Commander Rank 2. He's also participating in the beast hunt or whatever it was."

Those were the last words Felix heard before Noah said to him, "Go to the room, take a shower, and change your clothes. Don't listen to that bitch anymore."

Felix glanced at her father and nodded. His expression was ambiguous but he swore to himself he would not let this slide.

Like her aunt, he would definitely not allow someone to trash him and discourage him.

As he proceeded to their room, he thought to himself.

I swear, I'll make you shut up in the future. What son of yours? From your ex-husband? Just because you are with a man now who owns this apartment building, you can do whatever you want?

There were many insults popping up in his head to his aunt, but he knew, like his mother, he couldn't bear to utter them straight to her aunt's face.

After all, her aunt's husband was the owner of the apartment building. Because of that, they were renting a unit half of the original price.

Hence, if she punished them by returning the price to the original price, his parents would struggle more.

Felix could only sigh helplessly, opening the door to the room.

However, he was surprised that his parents' pet welcomed him.

He kneeled and exclaimed, "Oxley and Cooper."

A Stoneback Oxling leaned to his left side of his body while a Cogtail Hound embraced the right side of his body.

Felix closed his eyes and embraced them tightly.

After a while, he pushed them and was about to say something but he paused.

His eyes widened.

He saw a wall of texts beside his parents' pet.
