Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Spider-Gwen

Underground Space

Kingpin turned and exchanged a glance with his bodyguard, Tombstone. A black man with albinism and one of the most notorious ruthless figures in the New York underworld. Tombstone had a very strong, nearly invulnerable body, but next to Kingpin, he looked like a half-grown child.

Shrugging, Tombstone remained silent, gesturing that he hadn't noticed anything amiss.

Kingpin withdrew his gaze and gave his answer to Doctor Octopus. "No."

"Uh, maybe that's just my imagination? Let's continue... Gentlemen, where was I?"

Melody Cafe

Having obtained the information he wanted, Jordan left a large bill, weighed it down with a coffee cup, and got up to leave.

Time to reunite with Peter.

As Jordan was leaving the coffee shop, preparing to find a place to take off, he suddenly stopped.

In the sky, a white figure swiftly flew by, swaying on spider silk.

The elements of Spider-Hero were too obvious for ordinary people to grasp, but Jordan, with his strong mental power, could see them clearly.

Seems they're also here to investigate the Fisk Building?

Jordan immediately became interested. He turned around and disappeared into a dark alley.

A black and white female Spider-Man crouched on a red fire escape. Her black and white bodysuit outlined the young woman's athletic curves. Her hood's eyes were slightly narrowed as she stared at Fisk Tower before her.

She was Gwen Stacy, nicknamed Ghost Spider. The only Spider-Man in Marvel Universe 65. She'd arrived in this unfamiliar New York a week ago. As news of Spider-Man's sacrifice spread, she finally realized the meaning of her existence in this world.

Prior to this, Gwen had already launched an investigation.

Guided by spider-sense intuition, she'd found Spider-Man's successor at Vision School. But unfortunately, the boy was still a rookie who couldn't even control his powers.

Gwen then changed direction and quickly discovered a possible mastermind: Kingpin.

"This building's too big a target. Not easy to break into." Gwen stood up, muttering to herself. "But Alchemax in Hudson Valley is also Kingpin's property. Looks like I'll have to find time to go there, but before that..."

The Ghost Spider vanished from her spot, swept through the deserted alley, spun around, and kicked into the darkness!

The powerful kick was easily blocked by the person in the shadows. Gwen turned in mid-air and launched a flying kick with her other leg!

This time, the emerald green dance shoe was caught by the other person with one hand.

Though she'd controlled her strength, kicking an ordinary man away wouldn't be a problem.

Who is this guy?

The scene remained tense for a second before the newcomer let go. Gwen, freed, braced herself with one hand on the ground and nimbly leaped into the air with a backflip, landing on the red brick wall perpendicular to the ground.

"This may seem a bit impolite, but I still want to ask." Jordan stepped out of the darkness. "Why do you all like to stand on walls?"

Gwen didn't answer, her gaze wary. "Are you one of Kingpin's men?"

"That bald guy? He's not qualified to order me around."

Under Gwen's surprised gaze, Jordan flew to the level in front of her. "Jordan Evans. I know another Peter Parker—not the Spider-Man of this world. He, like me, has just arrived in this world."

"You mean... Wow!"

The intense spider-senses collided. Gwen frowned, waiting for the stinging sensation at the back of her head to subside before uttering a surprised cry.

"You're just like me!" she said.

"Actually, you're not the first person I've met with spider-sense, but that guy... well, let's not talk about him for now." Gwen came to her senses, removed her hood and mask, revealing golden hair and a girl's face. "I was investigating the true cause of Spider-Man's death in this world. My intuition told me coming here would bring me closer to the answer. Seems I was right."

"At least we don't have to fight alone anymore, right?" Jordan held out his hand, made a fist, and offered it to Gwen. "Now we have three people."

"Okay, you've convinced me." Gwen thought for a moment, then bumped fists with Jordan. "Gwen Stacy. I'm in."

As they made contact, a purple fantasy card appeared out of thin air. Jordan skillfully caught it using telekinesis.

[Fantasy Card: Spider Agility]

Type: Ability Card • Rarity: SR

Spider superpowers, including the agility of a super predator.

Effect 1: Super Agility

Superhuman agility and speed. Capable of easily dodging or catching bullets.

Effect 2: Silent Action

When moving stealthily, make almost no sound. Reduce likelihood of detection.

Having successfully collected the third spider superpower card, Jordan silently thanked nature for its bounty.

Once he met up with the remaining Spider-Men, he might be able to officially become Z-City's good neighbor.

"By the way, there's a question."

"Your hairstyle, how should I put it? It's quite unique. Is it punk style?"

Gwen's face fell. Why did this person have to bring up the very thing she didn't want to talk about?

She glanced at Jordan. "Where's your battle suit? Do you usually do hero activities like this?"

"We don't have such strict regulations where I'm from, but you'll have a chance to see the combat suit."

Central Park, Manhattan

"Hey, Jordan! We need to get this straight!" Peter clenched his fist, which trembled with anger for a moment before he relaxed it. "If you keep leaving me to work at the burger joint to pay off debts, our team is completely ruined... Oh wow! Wait a minute, who is she?"

Peter's first reaction upon seeing the blonde girl following behind Jordan was surprise.

He then noticed the girl wasn't wearing any trendy brand, but rather a familiar Spider-Man suit!

The stinging sensation from spider-sense followed, making him realize the girl's identity.

"You are too..." they said simultaneously.

Gwen rubbed her throbbing head and sighed.

Including Miles Morales from Vision High School, this was the third guy she'd encountered with spider-like superpowers.

At first, she'd been a little surprised. But now?

Nothing new anymore.

"Okay, let me introduce myself one last time. I'm Gwen Stacy. By the way, in my world, I'm the only Spider-Man."

Peter shrugged. Me too!

Jordan gestured. You guys talk first.

Meeting his new companion, Peter happily picked up the conversation. "By the way, your name is Gwen? I know a Gwen too. She was my classmate in high school. I mean, she was in the class next door. We saw each other in quite a few classes. Seriously, she doesn't look like you at all... Sorry, I'm rambling, guys. I mean, my name is Peter Parker. Nice to meet you!"
