Chapter 204 - Chapter 204: Dinner with Sirius

Ollivander studied Sirius for a moment with a stern look before letting out a sigh. "Time has not treated you kindly, it seems. You look like a completely different man from the Sirius Black I remember. A bright and handsome young man left like this. You have my pity," he said honestly. Sirius shook his head, acceptance plain on his face. "I've already accepted that I can't turn back time, so there's no need for pity. Now, about your apprentice?" Sirius said with a smile. Ollivander was just about to turn and fetch Julian when he stopped, since Julian had already stepped out from the back of the shop.

He was still covered in wood dust, and the ho-ho, now about the size of a chicken and named Dusk, sat on his right shoulder. "No need to come get me. I heard the whole conversation," Julian said calmly. Looking at Sirius, he noticed that while the man no longer looked young, he still had a sort of noble handsomeness to him, along with a solid amount of muscle beneath the suit that hid it well. "It seems your stay at St. Mungo's did quite a lot for your recovery. You're not nearly as scrawny as I expected," Julian said honestly.

Sirius laughed. "The mediwitches took good care of me, even if they were a bit stricter than I liked," he said cheerfully. Julian nodded, then looked at Ollivander. "Would you mind if I finish up later, so long as I bring dinner back?" he asked. The old man smiled and nodded. "Take your time, and do remember, nothing bitter," he said. Julian chuckled, then walked out into the shop proper with Sirius following behind him. Once they were outside, Julian turned to Sirius. "Shall we talk over dinner? I know the perfect place, very private and with excellent food," Julian said with a grin, putting on his best Dumbledore impression because he knew Sirius would understand it.

Judging by the man's laughter, Julian knew he had guessed right. "Ha, it has been a long time since I had a good laugh like that. Thank you," Sirius said sincerely. Julian shrugged. "I do what I can, though the offer was completely genuine," he said with a broad grin. Sirius beamed. "I'm sure you and I are going to get along wonderfully. Lead the way," he said happily, and Julian began heading toward Crumonte's.

Sirius was clearly surprised when, a few minutes later, he saw the restaurant tucked away in a rarely visited corner of Diagon Alley. "You really weren't joking when you said it was private. I didn't even know this place existed until now," he said casually. Julian laughed. "I found it by accident myself, but it's easily my favorite place to eat these days," he said honestly. He then led the way inside, setting off the bell he had become quite familiar with by now. Soon the old man emerged from the back and smiled when he saw Julian. "Ah, Mr. Ravenclaw, and you've brought a guest. What a delight!" the old man said, sounding genuinely pleased to see both Julian and Sirius.

Julian greeted the old man with a smile before taking his usual seat, with Sirius sitting across from him. The old man brought two menus over and waited patiently while they looked them over and chose their drinks. "I'll have a spiced lemonade," Julian said after reading through the options. "I'll take a butterbeer, thanks," Sirius said with a smile. The old man exchanged a look with Julian, who could only shrug in response.

Out of all the more interesting options, Sirius had chosen butterbeer, which quite clearly made the old man think Julian's guest lacked the refined taste Julian usually showed. "It's not that I don't want to try anything else. It's just that the potions I'm taking won't allow it," Sirius explained. The old man nodded in understanding before heading into the back to fetch the drinks. "I assume you've already gone to see Harry?" Julian asked, drawing Sirius's attention back to him. The man shook his head, guilt written across his face. "How could I possibly show my face to Harry before that rat bastard gets kissed by a dementor?" he said, regret evident in his expression.

"Then it looks like you have about two days left. The man is scheduled to receive the kiss on Friday night," Julian said, and Sirius nodded. "He deserves it after what he did. But enough about that. I came to thank you for getting me out and clearing my name," Sirius said, keeping his emotions under control. Julian waved it off. "I didn't do it for you, but for Harry. Though I will admit there is something in your possession that I want," he said, thinking of a certain locket tucked away by the deranged house-elf.
