"Name it, and I'll have it handed over immediately. It's the least I can do," Sirius said without the slightest hesitation, and Julian could tell the man meant every word. "My sources tell me that your house-elf has a cursed locket in its possession, while your cousin Bellatrix has a goblet in her vault carrying the same curse. I want them so I can cleanse them of that foul magic," Julian said plainly and honestly. Doing that would also keep Dumbledore from reacting too badly once he learned about it through Sirius's own testimony. The best part was that Julian could even hand the objects to the old man afterward as proof that he had genuinely purified them.
'I'll get the diary at the start of the school year, which means once I acquire the ring, I'll have cleansed four of the five current Horcruxes. After that, only Harry will remain, and that one is going to take some extra work on my part,' Julian thought seriously. Sirius, however, frowned in confusion at what he had heard. "I'll ask about the locket once I get home, but the goblet may take some time. Is that alright?" he asked, sounding worried that a delay might upset Julian.
Julian shook his head and smiled. "As long as I get the chance to cleanse them, I don't mind waiting for a while. In fact, once I'm done, you're welcome to have them back," Julian said sincerely. Sirius looked surprised by that. "So the only thing you want is the curse removed from them? It must be a nasty one then. Why not just have Dumbledore remove it instead?" Sirius offered, but Julian shook his head. "This curse is... unusual. Normally it can't be removed without destroying the item it's attached to, but I have a way of doing it that's unique to me," he said honestly.
Sirius nodded in understanding. "Some kind of family magic, I take it?" he asked, looking for confirmation, and Julian nodded. "Something like that, yes," he replied truthfully. "Alright. Give me a couple of days, and I should be able to get the locket to you, but the goblet may take a bit longer," Sirius said, pleased that he could at least repay Julian a little for everything he had done. After that, the two of them simply chatted casually while eating their respective meals.
Friday eventually arrived, and Julian was invited to witness Peter receiving the dementor's kiss alongside the entire Weasley family, Harry, Sirius, and of course Dumbledore. He arrived at the Ministry to wait for either an escort or for the others to show up. The only person who had also come early was Sirius, who clearly wanted nothing more than for the execution to be done and over with. Julian found himself mildly curious whether fate would somehow twist events to let Peter escape, or whether the rat would truly die today. Up to this point, the changes to canon could still be called fairly minor overall, but Peter's role in Voldemort's resurrection had been anything but insignificant.
In fact, it could easily be argued that Peter had been the lynchpin holding that entire chain of events together. While they waited, Sirius also handed over the locket, which had been placed inside a special box enchanted to contain its influence. An hour later, Arthur Weasley, his wife, and Harry all arrived at the Ministry, followed shortly afterward by Dumbledore himself. Once their wands had been temporarily confiscated as a precaution by the aurors, the entire group was transported by portkey to Azkaban's execution grounds.
At the center of the area floated a large dark creature draped in black, tattered robes. Just being near it brought a wave of chill and despair. Julian studied the being, and it seemed to study him in return, but both ultimately chose to ignore the other. Whatever bond dementors had to death, it was nowhere near as strong as the one thestrals shared with it, so the creature found Julian only mildly attention grabbing rather than tied to it in any meaningful way. Julian felt much the same in return and simply waited with everyone else for Peter to be brought out by the aurors.
It did not take long. Fudge arrived with a reporter from the Daily Prophet and a team of aurors serving as his protection, and he made a great public show of greeting everyone present. Soon after that, a ragged and miserable looking Peter Pettigrew was dragged out into the execution grounds, thrashing and screaming in terror as he begged for his life with tears and snot running down his face. Fudge gave the order, and the dementor lunged eagerly at Peter. With a sickening sucking noise, Julian watched as the man's soul was forcibly torn from his body and devoured by the dementor's circular, rotten-toothed mouth, and Peter Pettigrew's body collapsed lifelessly to the ground. He was dead.
