Grimm smiled, saying nothing in reply.
"ROOM!"
Law raised his barrier again, extended his index finger, and swept it upward. "SHAMBLES!"
Everyone expected him to swap himself away — as he had done with the submarine. Instead, Grimm vanished.
In the next instant, Grimm appeared high above, swapped places with a passing seabird.
The wind ruffled his fox‑fur robes across his face. "Quite the formidable ability, however you look at it."
"I'm not done yet!"
Below, Law pushed past his limits, stretching the ROOM to twice its original size until it enclosed the entire Revolutionary Dragon.
"MES!"
Draining every last drop of strength, he swapped Grimm's position with the ship itself.
Law and his crew stayed standing on the deck — but the whole vessel now hung suspended in mid‑air, while Grimm had sunk into the sea.
Two seconds later, the ship crashed back onto the waves, sending spray surging in all directions.
Law collapsed against an iron cage, utterly spent.
"That… should do it!" he gasped, turning quickly to Bepo.
"Quick — get us underway!"
He was no fool.
Even if Devil Fruit users lose their power in water, he could not be certain Grimm was one.
Worse — none of Grimm's men had panicked.
They watched him as if he were performing a silly trick.
He knew then his gambit had failed. He had to flee while he could.
"Cute parlor tricks, boy — they won't buy you even a second," a voice called from the cage.
Law jumped, realizing another prisoner lay inside: Dragon.
The words had barely left his mouth when blinding golden light wrapped around the Revolutionary Dragon, turning the whole ship to gold.
"What is this?!" Law scrambled to his feet, his legs trembling too badly to hold him straight.
Through the glow, he saw a golden figure land before him — and a forest of golden spears pierced his right shoulder.
"Ugh… ah…" He choked, blood spilling from his lips.
His sword slipped from his grasp and clattered on the planks.
"Not your finest moment, is it?" Grimm stepped slowly toward him.
"How does the Holy Light feel?"
As the Emperor drew near, Law's eyes widened in sheer terror.
"Impossible… the gap can't be this huge… how can it be this huge…?"
"Join me," Grimm said, stopping one step away, "or try to run. Think you can manage either?"
CRACK! Law bit down so hard he snapped half a tooth.
He forced his right hand open, conjuring a tiny swirling sphere — only for it to flicker out after two seconds.
He tried again and again, unable even to summon his ROOM.
"Ugh… ah…" Law glared at him with pure venom. Grimm chuckled. "Planning to stare me to death?"
"The world isn't that far out of reach!" Law roared.
The sphere blazed back to life, and his ROOM unfurled over half the ship.
"ROOM — SHAM—"
PUNCH!
Before he could finish, Grimm drove a fist into his stomach. Law doubled over, retching blood.
"So weak — why be a pirate at all?" Grimm asked evenly.
Law's eyes rolled back. He collapsed, whispering so faintly it was barely audible: "Mr. Corazon…"
---
He ran through endless darkness, breath ragged.
Footsteps echoed behind him.
He spun around — and there he was: the man he hated most, with pink hair, sunglasses, and a cruel grin.
"Fufufu… long time no see, Law!" Doflamingo laughed.
Law's eyes blazed. "Doflamingo!"
"ROOM!" He flung his barrier open, teleporting straight above the warlord, Kikoku raised to strike.
But an invisible force seized him, freezing him mid‑air.
"Ugh — let me go!" He thrashed, helpless, and saw the strings dancing at Doflamingo's fingertips.
"String‑String Fruit!"
BANG! BANG! BANG! Three shots slammed into him, sending him crashing to the ground.
"Ah!" He twisted to see Doflamingo saunter closer, raising a pistol to his forehead.
"Fufufu… remember this, Law: the weak don't even get to choose how they die."
BANG!
"AAAAAH!"
Law jolted awake, soaked in sweat.
He lay in a simple bed, in an unfamiliar room.
His wounds were gone — nothing but the exhaustion left from overusing his power.
"Where… am I?"
He stepped outside. Dusk hung over the sea.
A familiar voice cut through the quiet: "Captain! You're awake!"
Bepo trotted over, followed closely by Penguin and the rest of the Heart Pirates.
Law nodded at them, then looked around. "This isn't our ship."
"Not anymore. You're prisoners," Uldar said with a smirk.
"Slept a full day and night. Must be one draining Devil Fruit, shadow‑eyes."
