Synopsis
The world is slowly starting to go to shit as demons begin to take over the surface. In the wake of this, the government decided to help fund multiple organizations to help with fighting back against them. This resulted in people getting special modifications/injections to fight back against the demons trying to take over the world. Reiji lost his arm during the initial wave that crushed his hometown. But he doesn't want that to keep him from getting revenge on the bastards that took everything from him. He volunteers to become a part of a special project which results in his arm modification being a chainsaw. Only downside being, blood is required to keep it functioning. They took something from one of the demons before it died and infused it with some of the new technology.

Chapter 1 - World In Flames

Standing before a mirror I can see the nice white dress shirt, black jacket, pants, and of course my jet black hair. It just barely reaches the top of my eyes, my crimson red eyes.

Normal people don't have red eyes like me but my parents always told me that it meant I was special. Special in what way? That isn't something they ever really answered.

Arms wrap around me from behind as a young woman can be seen in the mirror standing behind me now. Her long black hair extends past her shoulders and I can just barely see her sky blue eyes peeking over my shoulder.

"You going to stand here looking at yourself all morning?" She teases with a smile.

"I just have to make sure I look good," I respond while placing my hand onto hers.

"You've been working with the agency for two years now. I don't think you need to check your outfit every morning," She says before moving away from me.

"There's nothing wrong with caring about how you dress Alora," I reply before turning away from the mirror.

My soon to be wife, Alora. I've been with her since the beginning of high school so I couldn't imagine a life without her. One day a family would be nice when we can afford to pay for everything.

Money is already tight with the way things have been going in the world.

"If you say so Reiji. You're going to be late if you don't hurry up," Alora says while taking a seat on the bed.

"I won't be late," I reply with confidence.

I walk over to her and place one hand on her right cheek. I lean down and our lips lock for a moment, giving me that feeling of warmth that I rely on everyday.

After a moment I move away.

"I'll be home before you know it," I assure her.

"You better or I'll eat your portion of dinner," She responds with a small chuckle.

I leave the house and begin to make my way to the agency. Driving through the streets isn't too bad in the morning but the evening is a completely different story.

Looking out the window I can see the small line of cars through the various roads, almost like traffic isn't really moving.

I'm honestly surprised to see cars this backed up in the morning, construction maybe? That's the usual culprit when it comes to traffic not moving along.

Luckily the agency is only a few minutes away and my road isn't really busy like the other ones around me.

I don't get to think about much else as I finally reach my job. The DHA.

A lot of other people wearing nice suits are all I can see walking around, slowly making their way to the entrance of the building. Each one probably armed with a gun on their hip.

I turn the car off and hop out.

Shut!

Working for the government isn't the job I expected to be doing when I was younger but I like it now. I help keep track of things that are going on within the city and occasionally some of our allies.

It is a pretty easy job for the most part, but occasionally I'll get the opportunity to work in the field.

I've had training for hand to hand combat and of course some CQB training as well. All of it is useful for a government agent to know how to do since we don't know when we'll need it.

At the moment the world is pretty peaceful with just some minor chaos in the west.

"Reiji you coming in or do you plan to stay out here by your car?" A man asks while staring at me.

I shift my attention over to the man, he's wearing a bit of a nicer suit than me and has slicked back black hair, blue eyes, and a bit of a scruffy beard.

"I'm coming Leon," I answer before locking the car.

I walk over to the entrance and make my way inside, the lobby is kind of packed today. A lot more people seem to be here for some odd reason.

Odd in the sense that usually the people working here are already in their departments or out in the field.

"What's going on Leon?" I ask with a bit of confusion in my voice.

"Beats me. I'd just worry about getting your assignments done for the day," Leon responds with a carefree tone.

"Guess I'll just do that," I say while moving through the crowd.

It only takes me a few moments to get through everyone before reaching my desk.

The computer is on like usual and my desk is covered in files, a big variety of different things going on throughout the city.

"This will be fun," I say quietly while taking a seat.

Getting through the work day isn't too bad, I do everything like usual. Call Alora on my breaks, check different locations out on the computer, and occasionally make sure there isn't any breaches in the other nations.

But one thing I kept noticing throughout the day was the strange sightings of these things with horns.

Most commonly known as demons but people will post anything for attention nowadays.

Click. Click.

A closer but more blurred image of the "demon" pops up on my screen as people can be seen running in the background.

All of this just to get the attention of the government? Yeah, right. I don't understand the appeal of making shit like this just to get us to look at you.

It isn't good to have government eyes on you period but whatever.

I'm sure this little trend will pass in a few days anyway, at least the hats how it usually goes with this kind of thing.

RUMBLE!!!! RUMBLE!!!!

The whole building begins to shake as loud rumbling takes over with each second.

People all seem to be panicking at the thought of what could be causing all of this rumbling but earthquakes do exist...

I stand up from my desk to see if there's anything noticeably happening but then I hear it.

BANG!!! BANG!!!!!

The sounds of gunshots going off outside the building.

"Is that gunfire!?!" Someone shouts with panic in their voice.

"It was! I see something outside!!!" Another person shouts with fear in their voice.

I rush over to the window to see what's going on outside; Giant holes seem to be on the outer perimeter of the building. What's worse is, I see the "demons" I've been getting notifications about all day.

It stands about 7 feet tall with giant horns on both sides of its head, giant claws for hands, and has pale skin.

Is the world really about to go up in flames...?

I need to get out of here and back to Alora if that's the case.
