Synopsis
It started with a text. It almost ended there too. But some connections refuse to stay small. He is not unkind. Just careful. Not distant. Just selective. And while the world sees discipline and restraint, she sees something softer — something reserved only for those he chooses. She never tried to change him. He never tried to own her. They simply chose each other. This story is about intimacy that builds slowly, heat that lingers, and devotion that does not break when tested. Read carefully. --A

Chapter 1 - The rejection

Ashley's POV:

"So, what did you talked about", Nini asked me, with a wide grin, the one which she makes when there's a gossiping session going on.

"After our introduction chat yesterday, which happened with you next to me, he asked me if I'm the same ASHLEY who's dad is the police commissioner in our district", I let out an exasperated sigh. "Our conversation was going so boring, so, I decided to text something spicy", I chuckled self-depravingly.

"I asked him which school does he attend. Goddamn it!" I screamed a curse. "He replies, 'I don't know'. What the fuck bro, who doesn't know which school they're attending".

Before saying my next words I glanced at Nini from the corner of my eye, to see her reaction, she seemed to be biting back her laugh about my situation. I chose to avoid it and continued, "Then I said 'even a five year old kid even knows this much', then after a while when he didn't replied, I sent another message, 'What happened, gone to mommy for confirmation about your school name', along with three laughing emojis."

"What next?!" She asked impatiently, "Nothing, just... He didn't replied at all, and I realised that he blocked me" I faked a dramatic sob.

"Why the fvck does it always happen to me, Nini" my voice rose. "I like him a lot, he probably got an idea but didn't even gave me a chance to atleast propose him, and even says that he's afraid of women."

"Holy hell, we're women. For god's sake, not witches" she scoffed, "I swear to my pussy, he's gonna regret not being with you, Ash."

She looked at me from head to toe.

"Just. Look. At. You. Babe," she let out a heavy breath "such an unimaginable beauty, how can someone refuse to be with you."

I looked at her with a smirk playing on my lips, amused by her words, "I thought you used to say I'm not pretty."

"Oh, fvck you... Now when I'm complimenting you, you can't even take it, this is why I say that." Her face remained unimpressed.

I smacked her head while laughing. Atleast this one knows how to make things feel lighter.

Her face turned serious again, "So, what are you planning to do now?" She smirked, "After getting rejected by a guy."

"Nini please, you know I'm not that desperate. Just this guy, the first one I took the initiatives with," I rolled my eyes "He seemed to despise me... Whatever, let's see where it goes, I'm not trying again."

"He's damn hot, bro" she said after a beat of silence with a wide grin, "let me try him".

I glared at her with a frown, "Stop being an ass" I shouted, "even if I'm not making any more moves, HE IS MINEEEE... Do you fvcking hear that?"

She burst into laughter, clearly impressed by my outburst, "Just chill...I'm kidding, you know that" she said somewhere between the ugly sound of her laugh. "Jealousy, jealousy... Someone is too possessive about their dream boy."

"Yeah, I am, so what?" I snapped. I looked at my watch, it was already one pm. "Time to go, bye"

"Can't your mom's so called friends wait for a few minutes" she said with a pout, "Stay, they're going to talk shit, anyway."

"You know that aunt Luciana had specially asked for my presence at her birthday party," I said while standing up from the couch, I also didn't liked the idea of going, but I had to, "I can't refuse her, she's pretty sweet to me."

"Go fvck yourself," she snapped "she has a handsome son our age, right?!" She asked, eyes glimmering with hope.

"Hmm" I hummed in response, and we both started moving towards the living room.

"You whore, why didn't you tell me earlier." The truth was, she has been asking the same question for a week now, I didn't really paid much attention to it, I don't even remember telling her about Charles.

"Jesus Christ, Nini, why are you so obsessed with a guy you've never met." I realised that we've already reached the main door.

"Heh... Coming from the one who herself is throwing her heart to an unknown man, she got rejected by." She raised a brow.

"Fine," I said exiting the house, "Do whatever the hell please you", I turned back to look at her one last time, and waved. "Bye"

"See ya," with that, I left.
