Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: A World Set Ablaze

The world didn't panic.

It fucking erupted.

One morning, everything was alright. The sun rose over the Red Line, casting its golden light on the marble spires of the Holy Land as it had for hundreds of years.

The world went about its business, pirates pirating, marines doing whatever they do, bounty hunters rushing for the next meal ticket, kings squabbled, and kingdoms all minding their own business. Then, the greatest explosion anyone had ever heard rang out over the red line.

To those in the Sabaody Archipelago, who were closest to the so-called Holy City, it felt like the heavens themselves had been grabbed by a giant hand and shattered like cheap glass. The sky turned red, as an ear deafening sound exploded. It was so loud that the nearby island heard it.

A spiraling beam of crimson annihilation had descended upon Mary Geoise like true divine judgment, and when the dust finally settled, half of the Holy Land was simply gone. Like a perfect half of the holy land was gone.

Pirates on Sabaody didn't even wait a second, the moment the red light lit up. They ran with a desperation that bordered on insanity, and they weren't the only ones, everyone on the island were all looking for a way out. No one wanted to be here.

Ships scrambled to leave port with such haste that anchors were abandoned, and sails were raised half-torn. No one wanted to be anywhere near the Red Line when the Marines responded because they would.

They always did.

And rush they did. That very day, the island of Sabaody saw the unthinkable, all three Marine Admirals, Akainu, Aokiji, and Kizaru, set foot on it at once. Three walking disasters, each capable of ending a nation, combing every grove for the man that did this.

They were looking for a boy. A single, purple-haired boy who had just shown the Marines that he meant business.

By the next day, the news had traveled the Four Seas, the Grand Line, and the New World. One name was on the lips of every person alive, whispered everywhere a person went, Lucian Lux Raum.

From a barely-known merchant/pirate to the most infamous person in history in a single day. Those who saw the wanted poster couldn't believe their eyes.

It looked like a mistake.

A child.

A mere child with purple hair, a polite smile, and mismatched eyes was responsible for doing what the Pirate King, the Revolutionary Army, and the Yonko combined could never achieve?.

Suddenly, that 1,700,000,000 BERRIES didn't seem that much anymore.

No one was laughing.

The kid had shown the world.

Marine Headquarters: New Marineford

Sengoku slammed his hand on the table with enough force to rattle the windows of the entire fortress.

"HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?!" he yelled, his voice cracking with a mixture of fury and a desperation that bordered on a breakdown.

"Tsuru! Have you been able to get him?!" he turned to his colleague, his face flushed a dangerous shade of purple.

The aged woman didn't even look up from her tea. Her hands, usually steady as stone, as she sipped from her cup. "No. Not a single time, I'm afraid. seems he's not answering calls at the moment."

Sengoku punched the table again, and this time, the wood snapped in half, sending maps and Den Den Mushi flying across the room. He breathed heavily, the anger masking a deeper, more hollow sense of regret that was eating him alive.

How could they have known? When Tsuru first mentioned the call from the "merchant brat," Sengoku hadn't even considered it a threat. Akainu had actually mocked it, as he claimed the boy was just a criminal barking like a dog.

They had treated it like a nuisance, a joke, and nothing more. They had let a deadline pass, not even remembering it until it happened.

Now, Sengoku wished he could trade his rank, his reputation, and his very soul just to go back and take that call seriously. Don't get him wrong, he wasn't saying this to 'save' the dragons. No, he was saying this because of the threat Lucian actually opposed.

Of what that type of power meant in the world.

The Elders had called him immediately after the attack. Sengoku had never heard them talk like that before. If he didn't know better, he would have sworn he heard fear in their voices.

They didn't call to issue orders, no, they called so they could rage and scream, blaming the Navy for the "Security Failure of the century."

They demanded heads, but they didn't know whose head to take because the perpetrator had simply vanished and so far so way to be found.

Now, the entire Marine force was being pressured even more by these old farts to find the brat or else.

They had tried every way to find him.

"Calm down, Sengoku. We'll find the kid," Tsuru said, though her voice lacked its usual conviction. Sengoku took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart. It was nice having someone helpful nearby, he thought, unlike the buffoon sitting on the sofa.

Garp had been laughing since the news broke. a loud, unrestrained burst of joy. Every few minutes, he'd just start again, clutching his stomach. Sengoku was worried his old friend had finally snapped, but he knew the truth, Garp's hatred for the "Gods" was so deep that he found the sight of their palace being sheared in half to be the funniest thing in eighty years.

"SILENCE, YOU FOOL!" Sengoku roared, throwing a heavy encyclopedia at Garp's head as the hero of the Marines let out another "BWAHAHA!"

Tsuru sighed, her eyes fixed on the silent Den Den Mushi. Her instinct, honed over a lifetime of war, told her that this wasn't the end. He would call again for sure.

Mary Geoise

The Holy City was no longer looking holy at all.

Normally, five figures sat in the Room of Authority. Today, there were only four. The atmosphere was thick, as they all were here to discuss the current problem.

"How could this happen?!" Saint Saturn hissed, his cane tapping a frantic, uneven rhythm on the floor.

Saint Nusjuro grimaced, his hand never leaving the hilt of his blade. "Where did that brat come from? What was that weapon? An Ancient Weapon? Did the scholars of Ohara leave a legacy we missed?"

"No, impossible," Saint Ju Peter replied, his face pale. "Poseidon is a mermaid, Pluton is a ship which we destroyed and whose plans are ash, thanks to that cutty flam, and Uranus is... accounted for. This was something else. Were there any other weapons we don't know about?"

"And not to mention..." Saint Warcury spoke, his voice dropping to a whisper as he glanced at the empty, charred chair in the center of the room. "It killed Mars."

The silence that followed was heavy. But the worst part, the secret that kept their hearts hammering in their chests like trapped birds, was what had happened in the deepest sanctum.

"And worse..." Warcury continued, his voice trembling. "It managed to injure Great Imu."

The entire room went cold just at the mere mention of his name. For the first time in centuries, the ruler of the world was bleeding, and the wounds wouldn't heal. Imu had been forced to sacrifice the remaining life force of the dying Mars just to stop the bleeding, a desperate measure that had left the remaining Elders shaken to their core.

A person existed who could make a God bleed. And that person was still out there. They could not stand for that.

"Curses," Nusjuro muttered. They had already decided that the world would be turned upside down. No cost was too high. The boy had to be found and erased, or the era of the Dragons was over.

DxD World

While the One Piece world panicked, Lucian was sleeping like a baby.

Using Enuma Elish, the Sword of Rupture was not like using a Devil Fruit. It was a metaphysical strain that felt like trying to channel a river through a straw. His magic was practically empty.

It took a full day of deep, dreamless sleep for his magic to return fully.

When he finally woke, he stretched lazily in his bedroom. His home on the outskirts of devil territory greeted him with quiet familiarity. It was simple, warm, and shielded from the prying eyes, which I'd come to like.

He sat on his couch, eating a bowl of grapes and staring at the ceiling. In this world, he was a solid high-mid class devil. He was powerful enough to level a city, and in this small village far away from the main capital of the underworld, he was likely the strongest being for a hundred miles.

Well, in terms of pure power, that is. He was above them all and only lacked skill, but that's why he made the deal after all.

He spent the next three days in his home dimension. He refined his mana control, practiced weaving smaller spells, and planned his future.

Right now, the ultimate goal is reaching High class. But for now, his next step was to become mid class. He had the power, he could probably make some connection, and last have he had the money to take the mid class exams.

He didn't rush back to one piece right at the moment. He spent a bit of time relaxing.

Back to the Grand Line

On the morning of the fourth day, Lucian returned. He appeared on his small, unassuming boat, drifting miles away from the chaos of the Red Line. He pulled out his personal transponder snail and dialed.

The Den Den Mushi rang twice before Tsuru picked up.

"Has my point been made?" Lucian asked immediately. His voice was casual, almost bored, as if he were asking about the weather rather than the destruction of a city.

"Lucian Lux Raum," Tsuru's voice was like dry parchment. "I've been expecting your call."

Lucian didn't answer. He let the silence stretch for a full minute. He knew Sengoku was there, too. He knew the Admirals were likely listening.

"We are ready to discuss terms," Tsuru said finally, her voice cracking. "We will remove the bounty. We just wish to...."

Lucian scoffed, "I have nothing to say to your 'terms.' I gave you your chance, and you mocked me."

"Wait—" Tsuru started.

"If you don't wish to see a repeat," Lucian's voice dropped to a cold whisper, snail's eyes turn black with fear, "then listen carefully. I want sixty Devil Fruits. Twenty Paramecia. Twenty Zoan. Twenty Logia. And my bounty? remove it. Erase it. I want a public apology and a declaration of my neutrality."

Silence. He could practically feel the heart attacks occurring across the ocean.

"You have three days to deliver the chest to Grove 13 on Sabaody."

Click.

The line went dead. Lucian leaned back, watching the drift toward the clouds.
