The Command Class examination began with the same three phases as everything before it, but Grey could tell almost immediately that the test had stopped caring about memorization alone.
The first material appeared in front of him as a dense black alloy threaded through with silver, and beneath it came the familiar spread of questions asking for its properties, processing limits, compatible materials and the sort of functions it was best suited for.
Grey answered without slowing down.
The next several were the same, only more specialized, materials he had already memorized while building up his knowledge toward Dominus Class appearing one after another. Some needed specific temperatures, others became brittle around particular energies, and more than a few behaved completely differently once paired with certain Nullites or Resins, but Grey had already shoved all of that into his head months ago.
Then the first strange one appeared.
