Jiang Guoqiang stared into his daughter's eyes for a few seconds, then sighed and said no more.
That evening, Jiang Ming returned, bringing a roast chicken and a few side dishes.
"Mom had me bring this. She said you should eat something nice," Jiang Ming said, placing the food on the bedside table.
Jiang Guoqiang glanced at the roast chicken, then at Jiang Ming. "Where's your mother?"
"She's at home. Said she isn't coming tonight and that Sis should go get some rest. I'll be on duty tonight."
Jiang Guoqiang nodded, picked up his chopsticks, and took a piece of chicken. He chewed for a moment. "Hm, not bad."
Jiang Yixia stood up and gathered her things. "Dad, I'm heading out then. I'll be back tomorrow morning to take you home."
"Be careful on your way," Jiang Guoqiang said, glancing at her. He then added, "Text me when you get home."
"I will."
Jiang Yixia left the hospital room, walked to the end of the corridor, and waited for the elevator.
